    Best card for taking colour

In my quest to find the perfect card for colouring in with Copics and Promarkers and for taking inkjet printer ink vibrantly and true. I have done a test on the current card I use against my new find! I was using the Concord record cards and it was fine but my colours never looked vibrant enough. My son works for a paper company so I asked him for some samples and have found the coated poster paper is far superior as the colour stays on 'top' and is much more vibrant. He got me a 30m roll so I will be ok for a while, but obviously it is not available to the general public so I searched around with some advice from 'Paddywhite' and found the next best thing is Duo-Matte 220gsm coated on both sides inkjet photo paper from Tonik.

    These are my results.

The top picture is pink petticoat papers in the cream background - the normal paper on the left and the new one on the right and you can clearly see that the cream background colour doesn't show as well on the ordinary high quality inkjet paper and that the brown is less vibrant.

The middle picture is comparing with promarkers and the bottom is copics, the paper on the bottom is the new coated card and the one on the top is the ordinary Concord card, you can see the difference in the vibrancy of the colours.

I wouldn't have thought the vibrancy would have been so different but it is strikingly so.

    Thanks for sharing the info.

It is so worthwhile getting the right card isnt it. I tried all sorts and was quite disappointed with the pens I was using until I used Stampin Up Whisper White and it made such a difference, now thats the only one for me.

Yes I have the whisper white too it is lovely card but look at the difference between the whisper white on the left and the new card on the right! The copic red pen on the SU whisper white looks orange compared to the other one. It may be different with different mediums i.e. prismas, watercolours etc. but with the alcohol based pens and printer ink the coated paper definitely holds the colour much brighter.

I received some tonik paper in the post today so gave my promarkers a go but oh dear my results are awful!
Dont know what I'm doing wrong if anything because I can acheive good results on other card with the same pen but as soon as I start using them on the Tonic the pens just seem to dry up The result is a very stratchy streaky looking uneven colour. The ivoryand other light colours actually seemed to be seperating in some way (or possibly its the coating lifting off as I put ithe pen on the surfaceand move itabout). I tried a few different colours but got the same result each time I have tried the pens on other card in case they had somehow dried out but they are fine on the concord card. Haven't tried it in the printer yet but hopefully it wil be ok so will keep the paper for inket printing but will continue to use the concord card for colouring with promarkers.
Has anyone else tried it yet?

Oh goodness! It is fine with Copics. You will love it for inkjet printing anyway!
