Filling of pi

Ok I am going taking the plunge of sorting my photos
a few questions what catogries do you sort them in?
What pen should i use on the back of the photos for the date ?i have tried a acis and lignin free pen but it does not seem to dry .

when I first started sorting old photos I got those expandable document folder things that have tabs and sorted according to date, with each event, or time period in a new section. So as most of my photos as from when we had kids, I started with the first pregnancy in section 1, then followed with newborn baby pics, spring 1998, summer 1998, the holiday we took that year, autumn 1998, christmas etc etc.

Then as well as those I've got separate sections for themed photos like house rennovations, pets, cars etc. I've also got a huge box with loads all muddled up togerher

same here for filing and I use a cm photo pencil as they do not mark the photo's
