Help - my stamp is too sticky!

I have just had a couple of new Bam Pop acrylic stamps delivered, and I love them. However...

The first one has stamped perfectly first time onto white card with stayz-on. The second one is too sticky, i.e. when I stamp I have to then peel the stamp back of the card and it's not leaving a 'clean' stamped image.

I have read somewhere about using sellotape over it to get rid of some of the stickiness, but that hasn't helped. Has anyone got any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

I've got a few Bampop stamps, I think it's just the newness maybe? Just ink it up and stamp it a few times and give it a wipe with a baby wipe and it should be ok, it just needs breaking in. I know one of my robot ones is still sticky and I have to peel bits of card and fluff off it all the time but it prints fine

Not heard the sticky tape thing but to me putting sticky on sticky would just make it stickier? I don't know though

All I do when I buy new stamps and they are sticky is to give them a rub over with the staz on cleaner, this seems to take some of the stickiness away. I agree rubbing with sellotape will only make it stickier wont it??

maybe, thought I had read somewhere that it took away some of the stickiness but probably dreamt it!

Haven't actually got any stayz-on cleaner but will definately keep an eye out for some next time i'm out and about. Thanks!

All you have to do is rub an eraser over the entire image, it will work perfectly after that

Using sellotape is meant for using on rubber stamps to remove the 'film' left after they have been made.

It works. Sometimes the same thing works on acrylic stamps, and it certainly doesn't sticky them anymore.

I would do as Monica has said ... rub them with a rubber all over the image and then wipe with a baby wipe.

If you still have probs, try using versafine ink if you have some (and if you haven't then you need some!) It will help get a good impression if nothing else

Thanks, that's exactly what I have done and seems to have done the trick. It's stamping perfectly now!

I admit to doing the sellotape thing on some new stamps. Tim Holtz, though, says it isn't necessary. When he gets new stamps he 'seasons' them. He covers the stamp with the Archival ink pad and heats it up. Next, he leaves it to 'set'. He gave a demo of this and the seasoned stamp gave a far superiour image.
