50th Birthday Verse ??

Hello

Does anyone have a suitable verse for a 50th Birthday card, that they would be willing to share with me please.

The card is made from the Arty Farty Cocktail Glass, so perhaps something about Party, celebration etc (although I am not fussy, all will be gratefully recvd)

Trawled through all my verses and just can not find one I like.

I've just made a 50th card for a friend who was extremely unhappy about the whole 50 thing and didn't want 50 on it anywhere - so I contented myself with finding as many things about ageing and getting older that I could find and putting them in. Luckily she saw the funny side of it.

So if you want some funny ones let me know (my favourite was "You know you're getting older when you light the candles on your birthday cake and a group of campers form a circle and start to sing Kumbaya")

However, a couple of the slightly nicer ones were:

"A birthday is just the first day of another 365-day journey around the sun. Enjoy the trip!" (Anon)

"Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that the people who have the most, live the longest" (Larry Lorenzoni)

"There is no pleasure worth forgoing just for an extra three years in the geriatric ward" (John Mortimer) which might go quite nicely with the eat, drink and be merry theme of the card!

"Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional" (Chili Davis)

"We are young only once, after that we need some other excuse" (Anon)

Like I say, let me know if you want the rest - I found quite a few but they may not be the kind of thing you are looking for!

I have done a card in the pas which took the birth year and listed some of the highlights from that year - a historical record. He wasn't that happy about being 50 (said he was no way old enough to be THAT old !!!!) but liked hisotry and facts.

Or .... go the confrontation route ....

50? Make sure with that many candles on the cake that the fire brigade is on stand-by!
