    Question Questions about downloadable images

I was wondering what kind of paper or card people print onto when using downloadable images and how you colour them in - would the ink run if you used water colours? Is it better to print on a laser printer than an inkjet or doesn't it matter? Also - can anyone recommend good websites for downloadable images - I only know of the Dottie and George and the Pink Petticoat ones so far.

All hints and tips about how to use downloadable images, and sentiments etc most welcome!

    Vicki

Hi vicky. I have used downloadables and love them. I print them onto anythng, I have used bazzill, plain papaer and heavy weight card. Regarding water colouring you 'can' but only on certain printer inks or if you buy some ghiant spray it makes the ink waterproof. However I have used watercolours but I have used them from the tip of the pencil with very little water so infact you could call them paints. I generally use pencil crayons/glitter pens for my images, oh and I have also 'painted' one using microsoft pant and printed it and used it directly. If you look on my blog there are a few dottie and george images used on cards.

When I made my downloadable images I made the lines very light so if they do run when you're water colouring it won't make a muddy mess on your card. When I print them out I print them on normal card and just leave them about 10-15 mins so I know they're dry and then colour them in. I've not had a problem so far with the edges running.

If you have a peek on the Crafty Templates blog I've made a set to print off and try for free, www.craftytemplates.blogspot.com Or you can get them from the site here

I'm working on a new set at the mo with lots of cute designs with and without polka dots and Deb has created a fun new character too for Debs Designs.

I'm sure I saw some downloadable sentiments somewhere. Circular ones and the like. I'm sure it was a sponsor, but I can't remember who...

one fun thing to try is print on acetate and colour with alcohol inks. Use a waterbrush filled with blending solution to paint with, and it turns out great!
