Hi Bernie, you only need the trial version of CDS. I've just downloaded the trial of SCAL and will definitely be buying the full version. I bought the original Cricut when it was first released in the UK, if I'd have known that they were bringing out a bigger version so soon after I would have waited. I'm completely happy with my little bug and can't really justify ugrading to an Expression at the moment but if I was in your position I would definitely go for the Expression.

Well, I might be joining that Cricut club too. DH agreed a while ago that if I could save the first £200 that he would contribute the rest. I will have that £200 in my account on Monday.... so I'm hoping to order this week!

Anyone know who's got deals on at the moment??

    Reviving old thread!

I would like to buy the SCAL software but don't know where to start.

Can you buy a hard copy from somewhere?

Blimey Lesley where did you unearth this old thread from
You have to get Scal ( or Make the cut) both are similar downloaded on-line. If you google Sure Cuts a Lot or Make-the-cut it will show up the website for you. You can either download it and make your own back-up CD or you can also buy a copy of the CD. They're both American though so the CD will be shipped from the US.

    Hope you're keeping well

A gypsy will only cut out carts you have loaded onto it, SCAL will cut any font or dingbat loaded on your computer, will convert jpeg into cutterable files and allows you to design and make your own files when combined with free software called Inkscape.

If you have a laptop its just as portable

SCAL is not in the least bit complicated to use, and if you do get lost there are loads of us on here, and across the net who can help.
