Mini Sewing Machines
Just wondering if anyone has got/tried one of those mini sewing machines? Cost around £20. No way I can afford/store a full sized one at the min.
What do you all think?

I don't think they're all that good from what I've read on here, I sew anyway so I've got a"proper" one. If I were you I'd hang on to your £20 and wait until you have another £20 or so to add to it. You should be able to pick up a fairly decent basic " proper"one for about £40 or £50. Have you tried the famous auction site. Might be worth looking there.

I second Gwyneth. I have a mini machine and it has never been used - not without trying! It does not seem to do what it says on the box at all.
Very dissapointing.

...loves sparkly things...and the colour green!! :)
Don't waste your money (mine went to the tip at the weekend after being stuck in a cupboard for 3 years! LOL!) Buy a cheap/basic normal sewing machine instead. At least they will work My mini one only ruined everything I used it on (and I mean everything - never worked properly).

My BLOG - would love a visit if you have a minute spare (incl free layout classes, maze book, exploding box)

Mine was rubbish too - not even good enough for the kids to sew felt on. But I have seen some reasonable full size ones in Lidl this week - about £35. (hope I don't get in trouble for mentioning the store? )

Yep mine went in the bin too! Total rubbish but I bought a standard one from (can I say name of shop not sure?? clue: every little helps. ...) for £39 which I thought was a bargain, and it seems to be fine!

The mini ones make very good doorstops, or are handy for filling that space at the back of the cupboard under the stairs - they are just hopeless at sewing

My lovely O/H bought me the one from Aldi`s at christmas, its great loads of different stitches and very easy to set up (I don`t sew!!) have been using it a lot...highly recommended by me

awwww, I just inherited one of these from mum when she moved - never been used - was hoping to do my first ever stitching on a lo with it...one day!!!!!
really can't justify buying one, as I'd never use it, or only very rarely on a lo...tried sewing once, on material, and didn't like it at all!!!
Shall have a play then bin it if no good - glad I read this though..shan't expect too much!!!

So much stash - so little room..............
I would say not to buy one of the mini ones as they are pretty pants!!! LOL!
If you are thinking of buying one - keep your eye open for Netto or Lidl. Netto had one in for £20 recently - my sister got one - slightly smaller than standard machine, but has several stitches and works well. Lidl do one for around £40 on a regular basis too I think. Or perhaps try Argos or somewhere to see if they have ones on sale.
