    Starting to sell

    Hi Everyone,

Just looking for some advice, I am looking to make a few cards to sell on for a bit of 'pocket money'! I was wondering if there are any specific laws etc for using templates/designs seen in magazines?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to get in trouble, i'm not a copy cat!

I think the magazines are normally ok about you selling cards made, they usually have some small print somewhere. In Beautiful Cards its beside the "Meet The Team" section and it says

"You may make cards from this issue of Beautiful Cards and sell your cards (unless otherwise stated) so long as you don't go into mass production"

    good question!!!

i too sell some cards..and i think most of them are totally my own design..I have looked at sites/blogs etc and have never copied anything but do use them for inspiration..

good luck..pocket money comes in handy for replenishing the stash supplies!

Thanks for the advice ladies, I'll be reading the small print in my mags once I'm in tonight! I dont really want to carbon copy the designs more take elements of them and use them in my own style - i guess thats a form of inspiration?!!

Not much chance of mass production i'm afraid, the day job kinda gets in the way. So inconvenient!!

If you are not copying the designs outright, but simply using ideas or one element of the card and incorporating it into your own design, that is totally fine.

You are also allowed to use the designs in magazines to copy for your own personal use and to sell on an individual basis i.e. at a local fair, but you are not allowed to sell that 'design' to any larger companies or mass produce it etc.

    Hope that helps x
