Help! Pot-of-flowers pop up card

It can't be so difficult! I wanted to "adapt" Robert Sabuda's Birthday Cake pop up (found http://robertsabuda.com/popmakesimple.asp), by instead of candles I wanted to do stems and flowers and instead of the cake a flower pot. So I give it a twirl and it doesn't work (properly). Looks great but flops instead of pops. Nevermind!

My question is here, has anyone else made pop-up design using flowers or a bunch of flowers before? And could they kindly show and preferably send pattern?!

I've promised to do one for a friend for Monday. Gulp! Any suggestions most welcome.
