another 5x5 here - not fastened to the wall. I have quite a lot on it - and stuff on the top as well. Seems pretty secure.
    Kindest Regards -

If I had one and it was secured to the wall, I'd be afraid of the wall collapsing with all that weight....

We have the 5x5 and 4x4 and neither are secured, thou we did try to secure the bigger one, however because of the skirting board we couldn't get the fixings to reach far enough into the wall so the screws wriggled out!

I have the 4x4 with the 4x2 on top of it in my stockroom and they're not secured. I also forever grab onto them to reach the item on the top shelf that everyone seems to buy until I move it down too.

Thanks ladies. My unit is now constructed and looks fab. It seems very stable so I am not going to bother fastening it to the wall.

Mmmmmmm should I now buy the 4 x 2 to go on top?:lol

I have the biggest one in my craft room and it isn't fixed to the wall. It was so heavy empty that once i put my stash in it there was no way it would get moved or pulled over (and anyway, anyone silly enough to make a grab for my stash deserves to get squashed)
Here is a pic of mine, it is now more full than it is here as I have had a bit of a change around and all my filled magazine files are right on the top.

Try this can you see it now? Can't get a full pic as it takes up the back wall....actually maybe I can. First time I took the pic I couldn't take the right hand side to due spoiling kits coming up.

Yep can see it now thanks Rebecca. In fact, I think I might have got the idea from yourself about having the 4x2 one sat on top of my 4x4 one from when I was asking about storage last year. Have to say that every shelf is now full though... ho hum!
