robo master & inkscape or design master or even another software
Hello
I have been using robomaster and inkscape software for a little time now but i do find if i have welded a word in inkscape and then imported it into the robo software it is slow in cutting.
Therefore my question is what is design master software like for this?
Or does anyone recommand any other software?

I'm new, had my Robo a few weeks so I'm not expert! So far I like to do other graphics in Visio, because I know it, but I do words in Design Master. You can do welded words and shaped words, import fonts and everything, then you cut straight from DM so you're not converting it at all. The few words I've cut came out lovely, and cut smoothly.
I hope that helps!

The Orignal Robo Rebel
I use inkscape and if necessary I create my welded item there and then trace it in the robo master software and it cuts much better
Some people use the export option from Inkscape, convert that into a jpeg and then load that to trace
I prefer another route and use a little free piece of software called Irfanview
To save me repeating myself I have written about using Inkscape and Irfanview here

i still prefer inkscape even though ive got designmaster, which i am trying to use more.
however when i use inkscape i do as nikib said, dont save as dxf do
file>export bitmap
save to the desktop so you can find it with a name.png
open something like paint shop pro or elements etc
then open your .png and do
save as
change the file ext to .jpeg
open robomaster insert the jpeg and autotrace.
sound lobg winded but once you know it it takes seconds
the result will be a very quick, clean none noisey cut.

Interesting, i have a screen capture program too, i will give that a go......
So, if you can use other programs like inkscape etc.. to do the welding, what other big advantages there is to spending the mone on DM....
If you cant tell i am not to sure if the upgrade will be worth the money..... especially with the draw back on the file format...although i understand there are workarounds.

I like coreldraw 12 because as Mary says I know it. I make templates in it both words & graphics I can weld & can cut straight from it which seems to be faster & clearner that RM. I can save as dxf if I want or jpeg.

I use good old bog standard MS Publisher to create a lot of my designs. I then copy and paste into MS Paint and convert to either .jpg or bitmap from there. I love its natty nudge feature especially for welded words.
The other program I use is Corel Presentations. I can convert to jpg or bitmap directly from this program.
In fact the Graphtec chaps said that I didn't need Designmaster as the programs I use were good enough - very honest of them I thought!

Please take my credit card away!!!!!!
I was just going to ask a similar question when I saw this thread.
I use Inkscape too but mostly Illustrator. But..I'm wondering whether or not to buy DM. I don't have a problem using different pieces of software, so is it worth me spending money that I possibly don't need to?
I see that some of you are dedicated DM users now, but what do you really think? To buy or not to buy...that is the question.

Well I don't know if I'd have gone out and bought it, but it came with my Robo, so I use it.

Does anyone else use Serif Draw Plus? I find it versatile and intuitive, considering the number of features it has. Aligning and positioning shapes accurately is simple, and text is really easy to manipulate - each letter can be individually dragged and rotated. Mats are also a doddle.
Working with paths is very straightforward, and there is an 'undo' function with plenty of levels (even for me!). You can cut directly from the programme, or export as dxf, jpeg, bitmap or whatever.
Cheers,
Carol
