    paperbag album spine?

help i am attempting my own paperbag album ~ at last however my old paperbag album maker no longer makes them. She made them stitched and then pre holed/eyelet ready for creating. However due to her not making them any longer i have had to buy some from a sponser... however they are only stitched ... now i have no cropadile or an eyelet machine... so how can i add some 'holes' to be able to thread ribbon and or fibres through the spine i find that if you have a plain spine you have to make it look perfect and perfect isnt my thing

any ideas? thanks in advance ~ natasha

Sound like you need a cropodile on your christmas wish list You canuse it for muc more than just the holes for bags.

Could you staple ribbons or fibres on? Or do you have an A4 paper hole punch?

You could use a hand crank drill from the DIY store or something like the Craft Drill that they sell at Hobby Craft (on sale occasionally and something like £20) as well. I would only worry about a hand punch if it is many thicknesses - and if you can get far enough in from the edge to make sure they don't rip through. If they were not already sewn you could punch each one individually, rather than try to go thru 8 layers (10? 6?) in one go!

I always stitch my spines together using a thick carpet yarn and then you can thread ribbons and fancy threads thru the stitches. Sounds vague. I will find a pic somewhere as i culled my paper bag books from my gallery

I never hole punch the spine - I just sew it together using fancy fibres - I put the ribbons on pull out card inserts

Example of one I made for a CJhere

Im making a paperbag album at the moment...have made 4 signatures, sewed them to some interfacing and added a rug canvas as a spine(hooking rags and fibres through the canvas), this was then all stapled to chipboard covers...

I have been making them forever, I always used the plain old hole punch, actually mine weren't stitched always ofen just the punched holes and ribbons threaded and they have lasted for 3-4 yrs already so am sure they are fine. They should punch through all the layers as long as you have a strudy puncher.
