There's information on how to sort this out in a recent post (I think by Sandy) - have a wade through the Designmaster posts, or try a search.

To cut in Landscape mode, you need to go to Cut>Plotting Defaults and check the box next to Axis Swap. Then click on Save Default and OK. Also, if you check the box next to Page (instead of Sign Blank), it will move your objects to the Origin for cutting rather than where you have them on the Sign Blank. Practice with these settings until you fully understand how they work.

    Designmaster arghhhhh!!!!

I can get the sign blank to look like landscape but it doesn't draw the way I intended - doing my head in so going to have some dinner now I think.

First picture is what I drew and second is what came out of robo!

Thanks Josieanne, I'll put a message on the other group later. Sandy did respond yesterday about the landscape and portrait problem - cut>plotting defaults>and to tick the Access Swap button but I'm still having problems with it.

Go back to Inkscape I think lol.

I'm sorry! I must have missed your post. It was a bit insane yesterday.

When you check Axis Swap in Cut>Plotting Defaults then make sure you click on Save Defaults before you click on OK or your change will be lost. This has always annoyed me, but CADLink hasn't changed it yet, so we users have to remember to do that EVERY time. Once you have Axis Swap turned on, then your image will be cut landscape, like you're used to seeing in RM... but note that it will be along the right side, not the left if you have your image near the bottom of your Sign Blank.

    Orientation

    Hi NannyJan
I was playing around last night with the software which has been dring me mad.
I have my sign blank set up for landscape.
When setting up, I have my word set approx. 1'' in from the edge and approx. 1/2'' down from the top on the left hand edge looking at the screen.

When it comes out it should be printed or cut on the bottom left, portrait style.

Don't know if this makes any sense, but I spent ages playing around with a pen in my cutter last night and that is what I come up with.

I am used to the robo cutting top left if my screen shows the image top left, is that now NOT the way it works?

I read what Sandy and Purplewillie say as meaning that if the image is top left the it cuts (landscape) bottom right.

    Is that it?

I will do some screen shots and photos and get them uploaded. We'll need this for the manual anyhow!

Are you writing a manual Sandy

  15. #15
Thanks Sandy. I haven't got a problem if I want to just make diecuts it is only when I want to cut cards with the word down the edge. I use this a lot in Inkscape do make personal named cards but having difficulty in Designmaster.

I usually use the export bitmap option in Inkscape and open in PaintShopPro and save as jpeg then autotrace in Robomaster which gives a better cut but it is so long winded. That was one of the reason I bought Designmaster.
