    Does The Cricut Cut Chipboard/mountboard?

    Hi,

I was just wondering if the cricut cuts out chipboard/mountboard as I want to use it to make some chipboard alphabets. I've got a feeling it doesn't as my craft robo doesn't.

    Thanks
    Tara

You can - but there is a knack to it, and you have to use thin chipboard rather than the thick stuff.
Here's how - put your chipboard onto the carrier sheet (this'll need to be quite sticky still).
    Load, make the cut.
Then, WITHOUT UNLOADING THE CARD, press Load again, and repeat the cut. You can repeat as often as you need to - 2 or 3 times should be enough though.
Doing it this way, instead of unloading and reloading, means the card always goes back into the same position so that the blade overcuts it accurately.
Works best with simple letters/shapes - you'll get the hang of it once you've experimented a bit

If you purchased the cricut expression you can press multi cut & it cuts various times it is factory set at twice but you can change this in settings.
I use this to cut the papermill 300grm card.

But its good to know the original cricut will do it as well.
I know a few people who have craft robo preferred the cricut.

You can get the same effect by layering 3 / 4 / 5 pieces of cut card. I usually cut whatever I want 4 times and then layer it up. Looks great on layouts and cards.

I can't get my Craft Robo to cut Bazzill even with multiple cuts! So I'd love to be able to cut even thin chipboard.

Maybe your blade is blunt as my Craft Robo cuts bazzill fine, and with multi cuts cuts glitter card too!!

I do have a cricut expression, but find with the multi cut option on thicker chipboard it leaves really rough edges, so I use thin chipboard and layer it too, about 3 layers, and it looks great, you would never know, and so much easier too!!
