    'Setting' glitter

    Hi

I have been trying to use glitter more, usually with a glue pen. I am finding that the glitter sheds an awful lot. I got away with it on one card by doing an acetate cover but don't want to do this always.

I do press it in and also tap furiously. Can anyone advise please?

    thanks.

The ultra fine ones, though not the poshest brand, the one in test tubes, but proper craft ultra fine glitter nonetheless.

i think most glitters will loss a bit,but if it bothers you that much it might be worth trying the other ones i think they are well worth spending that bit more, and they just look so much better if you ask me and coz they are so fine they do go a long way

I stopped using glitter for that reason. I now use Stickles glitter glue and just pipe on where I want it - they have a really fine nozzle so OK for smaller bits. Probably doesn't help you but at least they don't shed...

Hiya, have you tried using diamondglaze over the glittered area once the glue pen has dried with the glitter on it, this will stop it from shedding, and looks like an epoxy sticker when dried, hope you know what i mean., don't know if i'm explaining it very well

Thanks everyone. I do have loads of glitter glues but trying to use my plain glitters but actually will try to remember about the glues as an alternative. the diamon glaze idea is well worth a try and what i was hoping would be possible, something to coat the glitter. I just get used to glitter everywhere but people who get my cards may not be so keen and it feels a bit annoying when it sheds. Thanks for thoughts, will try them all.

I was told that if you spray hairspray over the glitter when it is dry that works, but I have never got round to trying it out, so really not much help

Maybe try a different glue? the glue pen might not be strong enough for the glitter to adhere properly.

I thought that was the whole idea of glitter - the idea of someone else trying to get rid of the sparkle just amuses me!

I have used haiespray on mine and it workd quite well, i use a template to shield the rest of the card from the hairsparay. i suppose it deponda on how many cards you put glitter on and how much trouble you want to go to !!

i dont use mauch glitter for this reason , but come krissymas time and im busy with cards out come the stickles , quick easy and no mess and the variety of colouirs is fab , so thinking along the lines of why these work well ,,,,,its maybe because they are wet glue rather than a dry stick , so i would be tempted to try that , but be careful its not too wet a glue as it might buckle the card
