It depends on a few things, size of card, amount of time taken, embellishments used etc.

Must admit I normally make it then just charge enough to cover cost of materials.

it'll have to depend on what the method was ! iyswim!!

the only card i've been paid for was a specail birthday,it was a parchment one for our headteacher to give to a friend, she asked how much i wanted and i said i didn't kknow......so she gave me £4!!! i was well pleased with that

I tend to charge £2 if there's very little making in the card - up to £3.50 if it's a fancy card. I sell at to friends, and also to local offices etc, and at art shows here on the Island and people seem happy with my prices - as they keep on coming back!!

I think people always know a handmade card is special - and can see the amount of time that's gone into it and should be happy to pay for that time. I don't make a lot - it just feeds my addiction to buying more stuff really - but makes me very happy doing it and then when someone praises your card it's a lovely feeling.

I'm moving into wedding stationery now - and have three weddings on the go at the moment! Wish me luck x

Don't be tempted to undersell yourself. I used to think it was better to sell more cards for a pound or two than to overprice them and put people off. What I found was the opposite - people don't want to buy a cheap card because then they don't think they are getting anything special IYKWIM?

Account for time, effort and what you have used, usually from £1.50 to £3.50, don't make it over fussy it needs to look clean and professional even though it is hand made. Good luck.

I've just been asked to make six cards for the director of a local am dram company. She's paying me £2.50 for each one!

I generally charge £2.50 for a card, but more if it is a particularly involved one.
I would only give a discount if I was doing a bulk of the same card, like for a party invitation or wedding stationery.

I have only just started making cards (Im an avid scrapbooker but had not made cards as wouldn't be sure I could 'let them go' iykwim. I paid my neighbour 3.99 each for my christmas cards last year. That is what made me decide to have a go myself, and I am really enjoying it.

There is a non-sponsor site which sells embellies etc, but has a really useful section called, I think, 'Really Useful Stuff' with sections on things like which glue to use, copyright issues and how much to charge for your cards - it doesn't give a price, but very good thoughts on how to go about pricing them. If you'd like the website addie please PM me.

I used to make cards for workmates which were tailored for a particular person and I used to charge £2 to £3. Folks just do not want to pay more than that. I tried selling on EBay but sales were very low as I think most crafters that use the craft section on EBay make their own. You need to find your own level on what you feel is acceptable for your work, but let's face it, crafters will never be paid what they are worth !!
