Help me identify this beach...

This is my brother on a beach, with my Grandma in the background, but Mum cannot remember where it is. This would have been 1965 and we lived in Wiltshire then, but sometimes visited back up north to Grandma's, so could be North or South! Quite a significant monument in the background.

Any ideas?

Do you have any aunts, uncles, cousins who may know the area?
It's nice to have the photo even if you can't find out where it is .

Thanks. It's not a brilliant photo and I don't think I will scrap it, but it is just so annoying that we don't know where it is. Dad was in the RAF so we travelled around the UK a bit.

Doesn't look like anywhere in the South that I know of - the monument I mean - sand looks the same anywhere!!!!

It is a lovely picture, and could be "cleaned" up nicely by paint shop.

Sorry I don't know where it is either, not somewhere I have been that I know.

you'd think that monument would be pretty recognisable...it wouldn't be in Norfolk would it, seem to have some vague recollection of a beach there with a big statue...Lowestoft?

I've Googled and done an Alamy search and I can't find it. You'd think it wouldn't be too difficult to find it with that memorial in the background.

You could try a bit of a trawl at http://www.goodbeachguide.co.uk/search.php#

If you choose the area it comes up with a list if you then click on the name it comes up with a piccy so you could try likely candidates on there

My 1st thought was Weymouth on the Dorset coast, but the monument there is the clock???

I was born and bred in Wiltshire & my adults sons also were & they still live down there, I will have a scoot through my old beach photo's and see what I can come up with for you, if it is up North, then I won't be able to hep
