    Ideas for a retirement card

Just found out that our deputy head is retiring and stuck for ideas to make a retirement card. I'm not sure what his hobbies are. Any suggestions?

I did one back in Jan for a friend who was retiring and I printed out the poem Leisure and then decorated it. Its very girly being pink and flowery, but you could decorate it suitably for a man as well. Theres a piccie in my gallery.

Are we talking school? How about something where you can use old pic of the school, a scrapping style one?

I've done many retirement cards, none of which I've ever got round to uploading! I've used the following quotation on several of them, printed on vellum and layered over a subtle patterned paper. The only embellishment is a strip of ribbon hiding the join.

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and
the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endurethe betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child,a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.

    - Ralph Waldo Emerson"

I think it's a really appropriate quotation for a teacher, and I know my brother loved it when he retired from teaching last year.
