I use word. Initially had problems but nothing that couldn't be sorted.

    My friend uses DTP.

    Hope this helps.

I use word, go a long way round really. I'd love to know of a programme that is good for positioning the text though.

I use Word too. I usually print it in draft mode once or twice before I get it lined up right, then I print it in high quality.

I use word. Go to file-page set up and make the page size exactly the size of your insert (i do 1cm off width and height of card). For a portrait card, change page to landscape. Make all borders zero. When you have the page displayed on your screen, go to Format-columns and make 2 coumns with 0cm space between them. This divides your insert into two equal sides, and you can then centre your text easily on the right hand side. Ask me if this isn't clear. I have loads of these insert and cards documents saved as templates on word so they now take seconds to create.

I dont generally do inserts... but set my mother up with some templates as she uses them.
I set her up in Word. Adjust the paper size to the size of the insert. Add 2 columns, start typing in the second column.

You may need to print out a couple of drafts to make sure your columns are in the right place, but it is pretty simple once set up. (If my mother can do it, anyone can!)

Once set up for one size card, you can set up a few different size card inserts and reuse them over and over.

I do exactly the same as Annette and have them saved as different size templates

I also do the same for when I want to print text directly onto the front of a card too

A little tip though, if you want to print fancy text and dont want to put the card through the printer for some reasong - use clear address labels. Avery do them and you can get them from most stationers I use them a lot!

Thanks for the tips on inserts I'm going to use the set up in word as it sounds easier than I've done before.

Another way to get text onto card is to use safmat from letraset, its a really good way of getting exactly what you want when you can't find the right rubber stamp words.

I use powerpoint for my inserts.

To get accurate placing use CTRL and the arrow keys for a SUPER NUDGE which moves it a fraction at a time.

When printing make sure you change the paper size to custom setting - I normally cut a scrap piece of paper to size to check the placement anyway.

    Hope this helps

hello ladies, (first post, please be gentle on me )

If I have to do anything on the inside of the card, I usually just make it into a rub on, it's much easier and no worrying about positioning and margins.
