Deleting unwanted fonts
I understand that there are some fonts that one shouldn't delete, does anyone know what they are? I have a Mac and would dearly like to get rid of some but, other than the ones I've added myself, I'm not sure if it's safe to do so. Be grateful if anyone can throw some light on the subject.

Sorry Shirley I don't know anything about Mac's have you tried Googling

Thanks Doreen, I'll try that but not sure if it's more of a hardware or software issue. I just remember reading some years ago that one should be careful about deleting fonts as some were essential for programmes to work, but that was for Windows PCs.

I expect they are for a Mac too but have no idea which ones

Have a look through your Mac Font book. Keep the basic ones that are common standard ones and just right click on the ones you don't want and right click and select "disable" . Its stops them working without removing them from your computer. If they are needed you can always enable them again. If you know they won;t cause any problems then just select "remove" and that will delete it.
