Spell checker
Okay, I realise that I may be spelling things incorrectly sometimes, but I think there is a US spell check on this site as every time I try to spell something the UK way it gives me an error. Given that it is UK scrappers, why would it have an American English spell check? Or is it my computer set up that needs changing
-
The funniest thing, I find, is when it tells me I can't spell my own name:lol:
-
Most computers are set up for American English!! I use a programme called 'Wordweb', you highlight the word and wordweb checks the spelling, gives you alternatives and will replace it too!!
-
But my mac is set up for UK English.
-
have you tried using language options to select "English UK" ?
-
MY Mac is set up for UK english too but I find that it sometimes slips into US English - I can't figure out WHY it does that, maybe some combo of keys I am hitting in error, I don't know. But so far as I know a spell check active on UKS it would only be a UK English one.
-
It's odd, because my mac is most definitely set up for UK English and yet here it highlights colour, for example, as incorrect, but color is fine. Very strange.
-
I must be the only one then who gets a US English spell check here - I will double check all my settings.

According to America, there is no such thing as UK English!! Your computer will be set up for what they think is English...
-
I think the spelling and grammar settings on UKS are actually governed by your computer, not the site. This is because something changed on my computer and I suddenly got the red wavy lines on UKS that I had never had before, this convinced me it was down to my computer.

My mac is set up for what it calls British English. Same with my browser settings. I have checked everywhere I can think of and all my default languages are British English so I am really confused. It may well be my computer, especially as nobody else seems to have the same issue, but where it is then has left me stumped.

My pc is also set up for English but sometimes it wants to spell the American way. Maybe it's the browser that's being used I use Firefox

Firefox has it's own spell checker and that is independent of the PC settings.
There is no spelling checker on UKS at all.
