I sent the birthday card having taken photo's for here and when I checked them they are quite blurry. Anyway, today is her birthday so I'll post it on here as the silver has a greyish look to it. If I can cheat, I will cheat! Thirteen year olds are so grown up now aren't they, I was still wearing long knee high white socks until I was 15!

Love the butterfly. A very pretty girl.
You are right about growing up quickly. Not sure it’s a good thing sometimes either!!

Talking about grow up. This is our niece.
She had a make up lesson for her birthday.
She is only 12 yrs old !!!!!!
Ellie

Wow, they both look very grown up ! My DD looked much older than all the other girls when she was 11/12, she developed early and was tall and shapely, when her friends all still looked like little girls - they caught up with her in a few years !
Lovely card Susie, those flowers down the side are very pretty.
-
Your niece looks about 18 Ellie. Don't they realise in years to come they will want to take years off their age, not add them on. Hasn't she got beautiful eyes.
Thanks both of you, the flowers are just a frame off the internet, you know me and printing, I love playing about.

I am always going on (usually moaning) about paper/card stock for printing and I have the perfect card but still I buy card because I am being told this is the best for printing and stamping etc...
I was trying to print a red dotty paper and the colour just kept fading and I suddenly realised I wasn't using my 'good' card stock and you will see from this photo the difference it makes. One is such a clear, sharp red and the other is faded and dull. Remind me, never to buy any card stock again because I have never found one that prints as beautifully as the one on the left. It even prints detailed photo's perfectly. Lecture over.

Wow, the right card does make all the difference, doesn’t it. Lovely red colour.
I don’t print much, except photos,
Thank you so much for my birthday card, Susie, Elaine, Alison, and especially
to Denise, who made it. It’s lovely. I shall treasure it.
I’m off out for a birthday lunch with DH, so I will photo it later, so you all can see it.
Thank you once again . XX

Happy birthday for yesterday Ellie.. So glad you liked the card!
Wow what a difference it makes to have the right cardstock Susie.
I am going to make some more of those easy tree and washi tape cards shortly as I seem to have missed five cousins..whom we've just seen at the funeral of DHs aunt..and they said they haven't recieved and as I posted mine over a week ago, I knew I have messed up. Sure enough I checked my list..and they weren't on it..so now I have to remedy that! I will be using the black, silver, grey ones I think don't you?
-
Elaine, doesn’t that always happen ? I always forget someone, and I have a list!!
Yes I should go with the silver grey ones. They were nice

Here at two of the grey/ silver cards..I couldn't do black ones after all as I didn't have any of the black punched out bits left. (I had used my friends punch at the crop as I don't own it). I'd punched more than I needed so I only had a couple of blue bits left.
I've also added another one that I made..wrong colour of course but at least it's another card made.
-
The blue looks nice Elaine. I need to sort my cards out tonight, I have the feeling I shall need more :)
Happy Birthday Ellie, hope you had a good day x
Susie, the difference in those two cards is amazing !
-
lovely cards Elaine striking
-
Thanks Alison.
Elaine love the blue cards, and the background on the bottom one is really nice.
As is the bauble

They are gorgeous cards Elaine. Any Christmas cards I make are going away for next year. Just have to make a couple and one of course is for the new baby but won't fit here and it will be a design I've used before.
Yes Alison, I've given up buying and trying other card stock now because it doesn't matter how good everyone else thinks it is, if you haven't tried this one then you don't know what you're missing. The vibrancy of colour is staggering and the images are so clear. I have a bit in stock but will wait for the New Year to order some more. I also used to buy their photo paper but they've stopped making that so I bought the last of the stock which will see me out!
-
Susie, is the cardstock good for stamping on too?
Ellie
-
I'll test it out and let you know.
-
So what card is it exactly Susie?

It is from a company called Kernow Coatings. I can only get it from the Isle of Wight now but I came across it at a computer fair in Liverpool years ago. Since then I have tried to find something better, mainly for printing but I truly haven't. I tried stamping onto it last night Ellie and the image is sharper than my other card stocks (note the plural there). I don't know how it is with Promarkers and the like but I can give it a go and if you want to try before you buy (should you want to give it a go) I am happy to send a few sheets out and see how you get on with it because you will probably be using it for different reasons or with different products to me.
I stamped with a Versafine onyx black onto it last night and the other card stock was supposed to be brilliant for stamping but it wasn't as good. I'll try it next with Craftwork cards digital card pack and see how it turns out but I already know it is no good for printing despite the fact that I bought it for that. I sound like a real little pusher don't I!
Ellie, I love that card and particularly love that die cut, what make is it please, it looks so familiar - I may even have it. Love that background paper too and the splash of red really sets it off, just gorgeous.
-
real little pusher Susie :D
I do like craftwork cards thats a shame Susie their digi not good I bought some card from jellybeans at the harrogate fair last time used it all now but that was good too
Yes that die would be useful Ellie can make it into Christmas or birthday as not holly
I just waiting for the kitchen floor to dry so popped in here:comp: it doesnt take long
-
Thanks for trying the stamping Susie.
I will look up that company, and see what I think.
At the moment I’m stamping on cardstock that DD gave me.
I think it stamps ok, but don’t know what it’s called.
I’ve been in bed since 7pm. Not feeling great. Think I’ve got a bug.
Shivering one minute and red hot the next. Got a headache and low down
stomach ache. Hope it goes as quickly as it came.
Ellie

Hope you feel better Ellie (hugs)
-
Oh Ellie, I do hope you are feeling better today. Sometimes these things can go as quickly as they arrive, let's hope so.
-
Thanks Ladies, yes feeling a bit better today.
Ellie
-
Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better today Ellie. I have a 'swimming' head today..feeling a bit woozy but I have to take Mums cat to the vet so I have to crack on.
I've just finished all my wrapping and just need to put everything away..however, DH says he needs the wrapping stuff..so I'll leave it out for now.. How much do we want to bet he wraps his gifts and leaves the papers and bows etc out for me to put away?

Hope everyone with the lurgie has managed to set it free! We've had tummy upsets with the kids, great for end of school!
Not sure you can see the colouring, bunny is inked in grey and black on some shimmery paper, layered up on some silvery paper. The light was a bit naff when I took this. I had a light box thingymagig but seem to have lost in in the move earlier in the year, aka somewhere in the shed buried!

Lovely Sarah. You feel that you can reach out and touch his fur.
Ellie
-
That is really sweet Sarah. Doesn't it make it hard to show the right colours at this time of year with such poor light. Ah well, tomorrow is the shortest day so after that the nights will gradually get lighter. Real little optimist aren't I!
-
Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better Ellie and sorry to hear you're not Elaine. All the stress of Christmas does not help your immune system one bit. Is your mum's cat okay Elaine?

Just wanted to post this card to all on cardmaking challenge, as I won’t get time
tomorrow, as am travelling north. Just cooked sausage rolls and ham is in the oven.
Think I’ve overdone it this year, had to cut it in half and cook two instead of one : lol:
Anyway I wish you all a VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS, and hope you all have a lovely time
whatever you are doing.
Love from Ellie.

Lovely card Sarah. I had a bunny just like that when I was little, although mine looks the worst for wear now !
Happy Christmas to you too Ellie
I have failed in my card sending this year, I really am going to start getting organised for next Christmas in January !!
I’ve finally made a card myself, here....
Attachment 196677
I need to make a couple more for close family who don’t need Royal Mail to deliver :)
-
That's lovely Ellie, thank you very much, great idea!
I've failed in my christmas card making definitely Alison, so I'm hoping to make some and keep them for next year (God willing!).:)
That's a very classy card Alison and I love the pearls. Did you die cut the snowflake twice and offset it, I can't quite make out how you've done that?
-
That’s my plan Susie, get stuff ready now and put it away somewhere where I can find it next December !
Yes, I die cut two snow flakes, the one underneath is cut in the silver/grey card.
It’s another Pinterest scraplift :)
