Yes Denise, I’ve decoupaged two of the birdhoused and two little birds.
Doesn’t show very well in the photo.
Ellie
The birds must have been fiddly Ellie !
Ok you enablers, I feel the need to use gold on DD’s wedding stationery.
Can you recommend a good gold ink pad for stamping and a nice gold paper for mounting so don’t want it too thick .
I have lots of ideas whirling around in my head but I need to get some stuff out and have a play
What sort of gold paper are you thinking of and how are you going to use it Alison? I had this problem when I was looking for gold mirri card despite the fact that only a tiny bit was going to be seen round the edges. Are you thinking of gold mirri, brushed gold, but most of all where is it going to be used. I used to buy a brushed gold and brushed silver wrapping paper for cards from Paperchase but they don't sell it anymore. However, I found rolls of wrapping paper very similar except not quite as good quality from Amazon. I still use it on cards because for the most part it is covered and I've even die cut with it. So we need to know details.
You can get gold mirri that is a lighter weight and as for the ink pad I would perhaps try Stazon or one of the good brands. I don't use gold very much except for heat embossing. Now if you are heat embossing I'd use WOW metallic gold superfine embossing powder. Google the youtube video's for the inks. I just watched a St videoazon metallic gold which was one you filled yourself but the result was lovely. I'm sure one of the other 'enablers' will help with the ink.;)
Let me know about the card though because I might have some samples for you to look at. I spent ages ringing round trying to find samples of card and the best mirri came from a company whose name I can't remember right now, but bless him, he sent me loads of samples and I think he supplied Hunkydory at the time.
The gold linen I have sent out in the past in die cuts seems to have been discontinued now. That was a sort of brushed gold in a mid-weight card. Also, what are you stamping on to?
Im sure I wrote a reply earlier but it’s not here now, can’t have done the last click !
That’s way too many questions Susie ! I don’t really have a proper plan yet so until I start playing I won’t know exactly what I want. I’m thinking shiny mirror gold but we’ll see. I only want hints of it - mounting the white onto it so don’t want it too thick. I saw some gold tissue on amazon which may be a nice effect too. I must get organised and have a play ......
Lol...she’s so good at ideas isn’t she.
I’ve made a card today..a thank you card for a neighbour for our luncheon party yesterday. I bought the flower stamp (Bithday Bloom, From SU) from a seller on FB and I heat embossed it in gold (yes I agree Wow superfine is the best gold) and then painted on the reverse of the vellum with a very light watercolour. It did curl up rather but I flattened it under my glass cutting mat. (Ish)
Beautiful card Elaine. The vellum flower looks lovely, the curl adds to the effect - lovely stamp too :)
lovely flower vellum Elaine, and nice colours too
Ellie
That is really beautiful Elaine, she will love it. I have so many bits and pieces of cards half made at the moment. I've been running my vellum through the die cutting machine which looks like parchment, so delicate and pretty. It is sad but I have the light box for the dry embossing and all the pergamano but can't use my left index finger properly since I made my niece's wedding invites. It was using the glue tape runner that did it. Remember I got those horrible myxoid cysts on my finger and they kept bursting? Well, the lumps and swelling and pain never did go away which means using an embossing tool would bring the cyst back. Ah we suffer for out art, regular little Van Gogh.
Sorry for jumping the gun Alison, I thought you had ideas in your head and just needed the different papers to see which would work best. The YouTube video of the lady using the Stazon gold ink pad was one where she was stamping on to vellum, nice for a wedding don't you think.:)
I'll see what gold card I have and if I can find what I'm thinking of will send some little samples, they won't be big because I know I won't have much left but it will give you an idea. I must sort out your colour box frames as I'm not having much success with them. It is probably just me but I'll Google them again and see if I can find some different ways to use them. I haven't forgotten I have them Alison.
I've just finished the anniversary card but I won't post it because it's a copy of one already done.
That is such a lovely stamp but then Stampin' Up have so many lovely things. I receive a catalogue and it weighs a ton.
No problem Susie, you’ve helped me think about it a bit more, so thankyou.
I’ll have a look for the video. Yes vellum would be a nice idea too
No rush with the frames, I’m not missing them, in fact it took me a while to realise what you were talking about !
I'm the same Alison, things just go straight out of my head sometimes, but I have tried using them a few ways. How did you use them?
I can't find the lightweight mirri card, it might be that I don't have any left but I'll see what is in my scrap paper box, I have three boxes now, at least.
To be honest I haven’t used them that much. The Stockholm LO I did is my favourite, my initial layouts I did many years ago are veeeery basic.
Beautiful card Elaine love the colours too
Its just finding time to play sometimes isnt Alison it we all know the feeling
A little anniversary card and hubby doesn't particularly like the colours in the heart but I like them. As Al Bundy would say "Ah who cares!" I popped this one in the gallery.

It’s lovely. I’ve left you a comment.
Ellie
Ah thanks Ellie. I like the little heart and it was a freebie, I just put the little banner sentiment across it. Hubby doesn't like all the colours in the heart, he thinks there are too many, that's what I liked about it.
I like all the colours too Susie tell DH he outvoted:D pretty card
My DH would say that too Susie.
He always says “Less is more”
Ellie
Most times I'd agree with your hubby on that Ellie, but I can't understand what my hubby has against all those pretty colours. The freebie came with some other lovely designs which you will see, I've made one into a backing paper, very pretty blues.
Oh Denise, I meant to say, I will definitely tell him he's outvoted.:)
