Storing Ribbon Lengths
I've got literally hundreds of ribbon lengths that are too short to be put on a roll but are long enough to snuggle in their box and do all sorts of naughty things when I'm not there and get all entangled. I also can't see what I've got....any good ideas for ribbon storage please? Thanks!

I put mine in those nice coffee jars with the glass stoppers in. I sort them by colour and they look really pretty on the shelves and I can see the contents too.

I use embroidery thread storage boxes and wind the ribboons onto card. I store them in colours blocks so can see at a glance what I have. Not as pretty as in jars but very practical.

I haven't actually used this method, but apparently for short lengths of ribbon. TicTac boxes with the label peeled off are a good method. I have had a look on the internet and it seems a really good way to store them, especially because with the label peeled off you can see each ribbon. HTH Cath xxxx

I had exactly the same problem and invested in ribbon rings/tags recently. I'm totally converted - they are brilliant! Perfect for the lengths you describe, you can organise by colour, and you can pack loads onto each ring. I hang mine from the curtain pole so they aren't taking up any space at all.

i wrap mine round the old fashuioned wooden dolly pegs and secure with a pin and keep them in Ikea forvar jars and keep them on top of my expedit

It's funny - I've just recovered a monster bag of book rings and having googled ribbon ring storage I note that I could make a tag using my trusty Robo..... Marvellous.
Thanks for all your suggestions, ladies, I'm going to adopt bits from all of your ideas going forward as I accumulate jars and the like. HLxx

I loop mine onto a wired half-body frame here and the really short bits I stick in a tall kilner type jar from Ikea, I have four now, rik-rak, lace, ribbon bits and fibres and they are just the job:D

Ooooh, I've seen a heart that is all swirly - would look lovely in my room....great idea! Thanks x

I use the ribbon tags and ring method but then I put the rings onto coat hangers and keep them protected and clean in a garment bag.

I have a pulleze but also these
They are kitchen toll holders and I use tiny zip lock bags and book rings. Stores them beautifully and looks pretty

sadly they are a lot fuller than this now

I'm too messy - take 1 large clear plastic drawer from a storage tower, dump all ribbons in, hope for best. Perfect.

Goodness, so many great solutions (including dump in bag which is very me...) thanks ladies! I will get around to adopting one of them at some point soon as my recent move back from a studio to home has proved that I'm rather overstocked on the ribbon front. Oops B)

Lisa, thanks for showing is your wired dress form. So strange I should see that today as last night I was only just considering using one I have in the bedroom for just that ! I thought it would look like a fabulous dress when fully adorned !

I have a small wicker basket and i put holes in the side and thread one end of the ribbon through about an inch so i can see what colours i have got. It looks really nice and you don't see all the messy bit inside, which is a bonus :P
