MM instant setter

Just bought an MM instant setter, and being me have been trying it out straight away. Now done a search on it and I see I need to get the "tension" right. :unsure: Given that it works, is the tension right? How do I know if it could be more "right"? If I have not got it right and carry on using it (given that it works) can I break it? Do I just fiddle and see what happens?

Right if you've got it right one press will set an eyelet..........if you've not it can take more. As for breaking it, I've not heard of it, and it took me ages to get mine right. LOL

OK so I tried a bog standard 1/8" one and it took one press. Then tried a very butch 3/16" one and it took 3. So from this I assume there isn't one "right" tension, just a right tension for the type of eyelet? One of the tiddly 1/16" ones would presumably need less welly than one of the big ones?

It says to turn counter- clockwise for both a firmer and softer stength..........I think someone made a boo boo there. :lol:

Thanks for that - why is it that UKS is always the first place I think of for help on things like this??? Manufacturers site - pssshhhaw - what do they know? ROFL.

So it looks like there isn't really a right or wrong, just what works for you. Off to happily set lots of eyelets. :D I like my new toy - now to convince DD that it is better than beating the hell out of them with a hammer, as she does like doing that!

I've never adjusted the tension on mine... just took it out the box and started using it! LOL
