Doesn't seem to be many new cj's starting up. No idea how to host one otherwise I would have a go plus the ones I have been in have had fandabidozy excel type graphs to work out who has what, and I dont have excel. any volunteers out there?
some thoughts:
Murder Mysteries.
Doodling/Flowers - carrying on from Kirstys fabbo challenge. Imagine having a whole book of peoples work. wow.
Favourite childhood mags:
or anything really. any thoughts.

I would like to take part in another one too. I don't feel confident enough host one - I have thought about it.
I missed the Christmas one, so that would be one of my themes, or colours of you, or the year you were born. Can't think of more at the mo.

i would love to join in with a doodling one (caught the doodling bug) but with a 5 month ond I would not want to host one. I can easily whip up a table though.:)

I agree, the doodling one sounds good. I was thinking about hosting one but will need to finish off a couple of the ones I am in first. So maybe in the summer I will have time to host one.

Whats a CJ?
InspireSpirit
16-03-2006, 09:55 PM
It stands for Circle Journal. It is where you have a little book 6 x 6 or 8 x 8 approx. You choose a theme, and then it is passed around the other members of the circle and each member does a double page on your theme. So when it gets back to you, you have a bookful of peoples work. they are really good fun. You also get to do a page in everybody elses book.

I fancy a doodle one too.
I've been trying to start a cj but the one I'm in (which is my first) has ground to a halt and until that's finished and I'm 'rated' apparently I can't start one off:wacko: :( It's really frustrating
But I'm definatly up for a doodle :)

Oh No. Niki. wot a shame. A volunteer and you can't do it. couldn't you ask (is it Lily my Lovely you have to ask), cos its not your fault if its ground to a halt. These things happen sometimes.

I did PM Lily yesterday but have not heard back yet.
It sort of put me off cjs but talking to other people it seems quite unusual for them to end like this. I am lucky as my cj has come back to me but other people have theirs stuck further back in the circle.
I run crops in my village hall and we realised that we've been going a year next month so we're going to do one there to celebrate which will be nice.

Noticed you are from wiltshire Niki. We have a monthly crop in Swindon.
don't be put off cj's. I have been in four and apart from a slight hiccup in one, they all went quite well. Great to get your finished book back as well.

Are they the crops that Del and Sarah go to?
Niki
yup they are :)
I'd be well up for joining in a KSM CJ Niki :)
when's the next crop by the way? Connor doesn't have any parties for a while now so I should be able to make the next one....Sal you should come along, they are always good fun (good cakes too!)
oops - sorry - hijacked your thread there for a second....
(by the way, hosting a CJ is a piece of cake - you don't need Excel - I do use a spreadsheet to keep track of mine, but you could just as easily use a notebook)

There are 4 places left on the next newbie cj - see here (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=77694) and there are always new ones starting up. These cjs are set up specifically for people who have never done a cj before and are a great way of meeting new people and having someone who is an old hand at cjs, hosting and being around to answer any questions.

Oh Ali, fab. thanks v. much. It looks as if there is definitely some interest. Over to you.............................lol. Let me know if you want me to do anything though. Just that never having hosted a cj, I have no idea what the next step would be.
Sarah, ooooo I'd like to go to one of their crops, when is the next one, maybe we could share lifts.
i have just asked lily to authorise a Terry Pratchett - Discworld (DWTPCJ) but we will only have 4 places left once its oked

i think i get it now... also had a word with my Foster Scrapper mum (humbug) lol.. and she thinks i should go for a beginners CJ first... seeing as i am a newbie who is still finding her feet in this mad world of scrapping LOL. i think i get it though... everyone picks a theme for thier albums and sends it to the next person in circle who does a page on the album owners theme?
AliTS
20-03-2006, 03:47 PM
Exactly that, then at the end you get back your book with lots of lovely entries from everyone.

I'm not sure if it is still Lily or not as Chrismicbritt seems to have taken over swaps. I'm hoping Lily will pass it on if she is no longer doing the organising. I know she is often not well. I'm away for a few days next week so if it goes up feel free to discuss format etc on the thread and I'll join in when I can.
