For those of us who are fortunate to have a die cutting machine/tool we dont always have the die shapes we want..
so this swap can help us increase our die cuts..
i thought we could go along the lines of
10 x large
or
15 x medium
or
20 x small...
im basing this on the size of sizzix dies so if yours is another make then we shall have to decide how many ...

Decide on the shape you want to cut and let me know...

Each participant makes relevant number of dies and puts into 5 individual bags posts to me and I will share them into the rest of the group and each person will recieve back 5 bags of different shapes incluing 1 of their own.

sorry to confuse anyone...we are in groups of 10 but just send 5 bags with allocated amout of dies in,(sm,med,or lge)...I will split each bag in half...you will get 10 different shapes back ,more selection just in a smaller quantity than previously stated...

Re colours..i think if we can all use our own judgement..ie..if its a cat maybe yellow isnt quite the right colour..unless its fallen in your acylic paint!!!

please can you all that have signed up so far note that ive changed things slightly and have put peeps into groups of 5...this will reduce the cutting etc and for those who are using the qk they will feel a little relievd Im sure...

Re: colours - thought I would ask people in my group for preferred colours & as tags can really be any colour, and then hopefully you won't end up with colours you hate! I can do QK's Hearts and stars - 20 of each given how small? Or I could do those oh what do you call them, those things you put on hidden journalling that hold em down that you put a brad through but in card rather than metal if you know what I mean. i could also do photo corners.

a question for you all...

Someone has kindly pointed out something I hadnt thought of...do we really want up to 20 of the same dies back again??esp if we are not card makers???

Im going to try to think how we can do this where by you still send same amount of cuts done but then i mix them up a bit???..so you might get 3 of something and 2 of something else etc...etc...
please ,if youve any feed back on this let me know..pref on here unless you really want to pm me ..(some times pm take longer to digest and if 2 peeps send same idea it just more to read.)..

I dont want anyone dropping out cos of changes..and please understand that this a learning curve for me and any help along the way is much appreciated..

I think we can all cope with getting quite a few of each. Alternatives are that we still provide the reduced number of bags (5) but you put one or more groups in together so we more different items with less of each. Hope that makes sense.

Also might be worth not sending us our own bag back but swopping the spares around so we all get back different to what we sent.


Oh dear, have just reread that and doesn't make a lot of sense. Why don't we all just send in our 5 bags and let you split as seems sensible when you get the lot. Probably easiest.

Ok, brain in gear now!

Previous idea does made sense.

We work in groups of 10 but all only send in 5 bags ( they are always even numbers of die cuts so can be split in half so we get twice as many different items and less of each. As minimum cuts are 10 per bag they are all splittable.)

Or to make easier for you we all make up 10 bags with :

5 red die ( large)
8 yellow die ( medium)
10 green die (small)

Hello - just missed all this chat as thought i'd subscribed to thread and hadn't - had been wondering why it's been so quiet!

I think Helen's idea sounds good - personally i'd rather have a bigger variety of stuff than a large quantity of a few, but am happy to go with the flow. I don't think it's really take that long even to do the original quantities in group s of ten....not compared to the alphabet swap I just did with four complete sets for ten people!

Also agree that we don't really need our own shapes sent back as we probably just tend to cut them in colours needed as and when, so may not even use them :)

Ali - you're doing a great job - hope this doesn't become too much of a headache for you. My baby's due in about four weeks....but don't panic, i promise i won't let you down. If it really came to it, dh can manage to operate a sizzix!!!!

the swap will be changed back to groups of 10...
still do 5 bags with either
large die x 10
medium die x16 (or 14?)
small die x 20.....

when Ive recieved yours I will split each bag in half...
and you will get a mix of 10 lots back.....so you will get fewer of the same die ,but more of a selection..

i hope everyone understands that..Im not always able to make myself clear when im typing...

Wow - this sounds like it's all got really confusing!!! Sorry for being thick, but wouldn't it be easier if we cut five lots of ten, but then split them into ten bags for you, so with a large die, i'd put five into each of ten bags. Would then make it a lot easier for you to swap around rather than having to split all the bags?

Carole..I dont think youve confused anyone else..i dont know how big the QK are but have a rough idea of the size of the ellison...
I based the original guide amount by the dies i was familiar with,,,the sizzix ones...so as long as you are also familar with those sizes and yours kinda equal those then thats ok...

only a few places to fill now and then we are full..phewwww...will be sending pms with my addy some time over the weekend...if anyone need before then just ask..

Ive signed up to do traditional bookplates. It is a large red sizzix die but there are 3 size bookplates on it. How many should I do? Do I cut all 3 and count that as 1? Also would you prefer them done in lighter colours or darker colours?

If you get 5 bags..put 16 cuts into each bag,label with your UKS name and group number and send them to me..I will pm you my addy..as for colours..just a couple of common sort of colours will be fine...people can always change with ink or chalks cant they?

Mine are all cut ready to go.

I realised I was doing too few compared to the others, so there are 50 buckles in each bag, which is 10 cuts of a red die.

For each bag, I've done 4 metal sets - 2 gold, 2 silver and 6 cardstock sets 2 holographic, 2 pink and 2 white. Each set has 5 different buckles in it.

That's absolutely fine - i wasn't sure what the other ones were like. I'm afraid the only other one i have which would be worth doing is the scallop tags which I see are already in that group. So it's fine if someone else does it.

and if everyone can enclose postage for the return 'trip' and post their cuts to be in either a jiffy type envelope or something sturdy that will stand me reusing it to post yours back..

I mentioned to my post man who brought 2 swap packages & a PIF this morning..."by the way there will be a few more parcels like this coming over the next few weeks so just push them through the cat flap if you want.." he asked "what, are you collecting something?" I explained what i was doing,sort of ..and he asked .."so how many will you be getting"..i told him over 60 and he almost fell over...!!!cant wait to hear the moans in the post office when I take them in to post back to you all...cos I will be wanting proof of posting on them all...oh happy days!!:D :D

I have made a start on my die cuts after finding some lovely sort embossed card in my box that Id never used on a LO cos its a bit,well,not what I use on LO much...but did a tag cut and thought..'not bad'...so I hope some of you are ok about different patterns etc...i thought id try and do some mixed patterns and colours...you can always cover or colour them if not to your taste...but I hope some will be..

Received my die cuts this morning and they are all great. Janetlinda - you really must have been cutting those buttons in your sleep, lol. Think they'll last me months.

Thanks to all the Group 3 girls for their die cuts and big thanks to Ali for hosting a great swap. This is my first swap that I've taken part in and think it was organised very well, so I will look out for any future swaps you will be hosting Ali.

Then in the next..think its a narrow box..leave a comment,it can only be short,and needs to include the swap,die cut swap, and anything else you want to say...

theres also a big box but you cant/dont need to do anything in that...
then click 'submit feed back' and its all done!!!

i dont think Ive missed anything...if theres a problem just send a pm to Helenpp..as she too has offered to do it...

my die cuts arrived this morning. fantastic thanks for organising the swop. ran like clockwork. can you help me i have some one of which is in a light blue paper with half circle dashes in it. there is a left side and a right side. right hand side has a gash in it as if you tuck something into it. bottom flap. then another piece which seems to sit inside whole thing. Hope you can understand my ramblings. What is this used for and do i tuck one flap inside other or what????
