I have just started researching my family tree, so I am new to all this.
My grandmother was born in Lucan near Dublin. I have found who I think is her father from a cenus entry but do not know how to go about finding birth certificates etc.
can anyone help me?
it depends on which year she was born reistration didn't start in ireland until 1864 and like this country it took a while before every one did register the children My ggrand mother was born1864 and I havent been able to find her I know the church ,Village etc and there was only about 34 families in the village also quite a rare name I have managed to get baptismal records of a brother from 1869 and the actual certificate of one born in 1875 I supose the church will still have the records but its getting a copy without going to ireland thats the problem

Briefly spoke to my mum as she has researched loads here in Ireland and says that you need to contact:-
Births/Deaths/Marriages, Four Courts, Dublin, Ireland
You need to give them as much information as possible and they would do a search. As far as she can remember there is a fee for the search but if you give them all your contact details they will let you know if it is required.
Hope this helps but as eilo says it prob depends on the date!
