I missed out on the Feb one so I subscribed to her mailing list and got her message today about the new kit - went to check it out and she's already sold out.:( I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'm quick enough for the April one.
I was disappointed that you cant pay with paypal anymore :(

thats strange emma as its not showing up as sold out - the feb one was but the march one was only put up yesterday.
The mailing list option seemed to be only there when the feb kit was sold out

I subbed to this kit last month and the Feb kit is totally gorgeous. I have loved using it. I'm so looking forward to getting March's ... it looks even more gorgeous!!

I did manage to order the March kit, tried to get through onto the site loads of times on the 1st March, eventually it let me into the shopping cart, so I quickly placed the order. Couldn't believe my luck when I realised how quickly they sold out. I emailed to check they received the payment and everything was Ok and they confirmed I would be getting it, really pleased and hope it is as nice as it looks. Didn't sub, just thought I would try it as a one-off.

Oh Shirley, you make me feel very guilty, did I sway you in any way to buy this kit??
I got Febs, and love it, I subbed for three months, and am so pleased I did.
If you want to see what you get in a kit, this is Feb's here. (http://jensworld.typepad.com/jens_world/) and scroll down right to the bottom, and click on the image to enlarge it. I adored the Heidi Swapp Chipboard alphabets:wub:

The Feb kit is fab. I've signed up for 3 months, plus the March project kit...I'm glad some other UKS'ers have found it too :D
Has anyone actually USED the FEb kit yet, and posted in their gallery?? I've got some snow photos from last week, which should I should be able to pick up by the end of this....hoping to use those...lots of red , pinks and blues.

Has anyone actually USED the FEb kit yet, and posted in their gallery??
Umm no actually!! Much prefer to show others and taunt them with it, especially Shirley!! I have kept the whole kit together and stroked it lots!! I need to do at least one LO, and then it can fend for it'self, but not this week, maybe next week.

Kathy, I've done 2 LOs with it, but not uploaded them to my gallery. Will try and do it later. :)

kathyb
16-03-2006, 08:52 PM
Papermad - Personally I think the kit is fab. Jenni has a real eye for co-ordination of colours and its great that not only her, but also other US big names create gallery entries each month for inspiration. So far I've had Feb and now March and I have to say I love it....lots of Heidi Swapp and Lil' Davis products. It works out about £22 for the papercrafting kit which includes the postage. The kits ship on the 10th, and mine has arrived today ( 16th ) from the US. I would suspect the same kit from the UK would cost much more.
Have you had a good look at the site??
www.jennibowlin.com
lalamuppet - hope yours comes tomorrow. My Feb kit took much longer to arrive - 16 days in all.I think its a bit hit and miss depending on customs etc. Jenni did tell me then that 3 weeks was not uncommon due to this.
papermad
16-03-2006, 08:59 PM
Thanks KathyB, have you got hit by customs? I think about £18 is supposed to be the limit, so I suppose the kits are a tad over.
gismo
16-03-2006, 09:06 PM
no worry with customs as she doesnt put the value on the forms! I wasnt too keen on mine this month until I opened the goodie tin and am loving it sooooooooooooooo much...cant wait for the next now
Jennie
17-03-2006, 05:12 PM
Ooh, I haven't got mine yet, I hope it's here tomorrow when I am at home.
kathyb
17-03-2006, 05:25 PM
No I've had no probs...I would assume that the £18 would be the value of the goods....its probably just about that as the £22 includes the postage.
I've done a couple of Lo's today using the March kit. They are in my gallery, if anyone would like to see them.

papermad
20-03-2006, 12:08 AM
Just subscribed too. Been watching for a while and thought i'd try and pick up a one off kit by logging on continuoulsy on 01 April. However, just realised that I'm away for over a week from 31 March. So there was only one solution - i'd have to subscribe. I like the fact that you subscribe in 3 month blocks. It takes the pressure off if you don't want to sub all the time. Can't wait to see what April's kit is like and being away I won't be able to log on to see - aargh! By the time I get back the kit will be about ready for shipping. Still it'll be more of a suprise.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'm signed up for the April kit. I emailed to double check but have had no reply. Just a bit worried as I placed an order with a UK site that seemed to have gone through ok but apparently hadn't. Oh well, will have to wait and see if we get billed on the 5th I guess. Seems a bit strange not to get an automatic confirmation.

There was a problem at one point with the e-mail link on Jenni's site, not going through.
She has her e-mail address posted in her blog, so I would suggest resending. I've e-mailed her a few times and she is very prompt to reply, so I would assume if she hasn't responded to you it it likely she has not received your message. Hope this helps.

Checked yesterday and nothing, so must go and check it out now. I've just printed all the stuff off for last month's project, and although it doesn't look that fantastic, I am really spurred on to do it this weekend and display it in my scraproom, it looks so cool irl. I took out a 3 month sub starting with the March kit. I think it then should guarantee a kit each time as when the sub is due to end you get the option of re-subscribing.
It's obviously a very popular kit. I'm not sure of the time difference with here and the US. I was up in the night and at 5a.m here the site was still showing the March stuff.

I love the look of the April kit and the colours are yummy. I wasn't too fussed about the project kit though. Apparently there is a gallery just for members? Does anyone know how to access it or where it is?
kathyb
01-04-2006, 02:39 PM
The inspiration gallery for the main paper goes live on the 10th of each month which shows Jennis work and her guest designer - Heidi Swapp for April.
The project gallery seems to go live later. In March I'd signed up for the project kit, expecting a password in with the kit to access the instructions etc, but then found out from Jenni that it wasn't password protected for March, though is meant to be from April. My kit arrived on 16th MArch, and this gallery seemed to appear about the same time.
There was talk of a "members" gallery on her blog for those who buy the kits to upload to, though I think this is still work in progress as she was talking about loads of changes to the website which were taking place from March through to May.
A lot of people seem to upload to 2peas - if you search under Jenni or Jenni Bowlin you come across quite a few pages.
Might have to go and look at April's project kit again....you girls are tempting me

Naughty, Naughty Hannah - hope I didn't persuade you into buying this kit did I? Glad you got it though, it sold out v.quickly again. :o Shirley - You are SO naughty!!!! :o I didn't really need too much persuading to get this kit - all the others have been soooooo lovely, especially when the gallery is live & I'll get scrummy ideas from all the fab designs in there! The gallery really helps, I also look on two peas and do a search, they did some lovely ones with the March kit, as did Bex and some of the others on here. Again not quite so sure about the papers this month, but I am sure good 'ol Heidi will do something fantastic with them!!

Janee i contacted Jenni about the confirmation email and apparently she doesn't send them out anymore automatic...as soon as you have signed up and given all your card details you will get 3 kits from then on.
At least that is what Jenni wrote to me
Bex - Trust me you will LOVE those papers. The taster page does not show you how amazing those papers are. I so love Scenic Route and the good thing is that they are double sided, so if you don't like one side just flip em over :P

There's another sneek peek up on Jennis blog.
I've used the Heidi Swapp stencils - theres a few LO's in my gallery. The trick I've found is to be sure they make good contact at all points with your card / photos. I've used mine with acrylics ( handpainted ). Again it helps to keep your brush loaded with paint, paint smoothly in one direction, and do the whole mask in one go ( about 20mins ), removing it before the paint is dry. Patience is the key, if you rush then you'll probably bodge it up. Practice on a bit of scrap first.
The link on Heidi's blog shows loads of other techniques with the masks - really inspiring.
Here is one link
http://www.scrapfriends.us/heidi_swapp_masks.html
and the bit on Heidi's blog is on the Jan 28th 2006 entry

The April inspiration gallery is now up.
I have to say I now feel much more inspired, and love the April colours :)

Hmm, I'll be honest, this isn't looking my favourite kit this month. But I shall reserve my judgement until I receive it. I think I like the colours, they are certainly more summery than April, very mediterreanen (Sp!!) I have just been so in awe when I have received the other two kits, maybe my expectations are too high. Looks like we might get a taster of May and June soon, which I will need to see (as will others) before we renew our three month sub.
I did a LO with the March kit, last week, I'll put it up on my blog (http://jensworld.typepad.com/jens_world/)so you can have a peek today. I really loved the earth browns and greens.

Not got my April kit yet as Jenni couldn't get my bank to accept payment -- worried me somewhat. Had two emails from her to ask me to re input. Then today got a letter to call them as they were concerned about a transaction that might be fraudulent... and yes you guessed right it was hers!!
Looks like someone has been using other peoples card numbers on her site - so they were doing checks. So if anyone else is having the same problem call your bank up.
Hope its not too late....
Jennie
16-04-2006, 01:50 AM
Explain more Janee, I'm not quite understanding what you are saying. Did someone try to use your card on her site, or she thought you were trying to use someone elses card!! However I am glad to hear they have been doing checks.
janee
16-04-2006, 01:51 PM
Someone has been using other peoples cards on her site -- ie fraudulently - so the bank were checking that the transaction on my account was ok.
Does that make sense?

Yup it was my first kit....was waiting for me at home when I just went for lunch. But if I am honest - I don't like it at all. HUGELY disappointed and I think I was caught up in all the hype about this Kit.
I will ask her if I can cancel my sub.
Don't get me wrong - the papers and tin and everything is nice but that's it. Just nice, I expected to be blown away but £24.00 for just nice is a bit much IMHO
Off I am to find another kit *sigh*
Marja
19-04-2006, 02:22 PM
LOL I got mine this morning as well and it's pretty but I was looking in the box like "where's the rest of the kit". Not the greatest value for money but at least I like what I did get (other than the glitter). I think I only subbed for 3 months so will give it a try for 2 more month and see what I think. It might just've been this month that wasn't great as last months kit pic looked awesome (it's what got me to sign up in the first place).

Hurrah, mine arrived today and I'm really pleased with it. It's probably not gort £24 worth of stash in it but then do any of the kits actually have the value of the the kit in stash in them? her marketing is certainly very good and tempting! I love Scenic route so I'm really pleased with the paper, although I did get two sheets the same, I'm not sure if that is intentional or not.
Does anyone know how to use the glitter (which I love)? Is it heat embossed or used with glue, in which case, what type of glue?
lalamuppet
19-04-2006, 07:52 PM

Thanks on letting me know about the sheets. How many of the Heidi Swapp stars did you all get? there were meant to be 2 of the credit card stars butI only go the one, not sure about the others will go and check now.
Kate, what is DST?
papermad
20-04-2006, 12:10 AM
In my tin there are:
2 credit card stars - "fast" and "super star"
2 chipboard stars - one larger than the other
one metal star
6 jewel stars - 3 orange 3 blue
handful of sequins
orange ribbon
Am planning on doing a LO tomorrow night using the kit at a friends house. Started to put together bits and pieces and must say that one of the orange cardstock I have at home is a better match than the one included. Do still like the kit. Not sure I'll use many of the stars on LOs but I do cards too, so maybe I can use them on those. I am usually so into muted colours and the distressed look but have been heading for a few brights recently - pink and orange etc and the orange and blue does appeal to me. Can't say I'm over the moon, but not unhappy either.

I totally loved the latest kit. Stars aren't usually what I'd go for, but I try and see what I get as a challenge and I love the colours. I did a layout with it the day after I received it and used the star masks and fuzzy stars and totally love the layout, so I'm really pleased. I find it nice to use new things and I always find Jenni's kit so very well put together and I love getting things like paint, glitter, chipboard alphas ... they're all right up my street!! Has anyone taken a look at her sneak preview of the next kit yet? I love the flowers but I have to admit that lilac is not really a fave colour of mine but I'll reserve judgement until I see the whole kit. I have to admit that with the cyber crop and a CJ that I am in starting soon, I've not actually had a chance to do anything other than stroke April's kit!
Marja
29-04-2006, 11:13 AM
I just went to look at her blog and I agree, purples are NOT my fav colour but I think those are MM papers? I like the combination with the blue though, besides we can't skip kits so doesn't look like there is much choice in the matter . I think this will be kit 2 so I have one more after this one and will see what I think overall. I've not even touched my first kit.
kathyb
29-04-2006, 12:37 PM
Reading Jenni's blog, the lilac flowers are the project kit.
Further back in her blog are some small yellow and orange paper flowers and a cut out, which are from the main papercrafting kit.
I've not used my April kit yet either...just not had the time, though have lots of ideas in my mind. They are seeming to becoming very much of a muchness...May will be my kit 4, though the last of my 3 month sub. I'm hoping there may be a clue to June's before I have to decide, otherwise i'll probably go for the next 3 months then see.

Off to go and have a look.

I bought the papers at a show last month as well and typically I also have the chipboard letters but you can never have too much of either!
I don't think I'll bother with the add on kit. I can't really see the point of it,the little book is great but what do you do with the flowers once you've made them? As you already get a couple of chipboard flowers in the main kit you could just trace round them to make more and cover in your own paper. Or am I missing something?
Edited to say: sorry, I hope I wasn't being insensitive to those who have ordered the add on kit!

Just quick word of caution if you are subbed to this kit (just finished your sub) – Jenni Bowlin has taken over $75 from my Credit Card WITHOUT permission!!!!
I wasn’t due a payment and certainly not for that amount. I did start a sub but cancelled and had her confirmation saying that no further payments will be taken. To actually find out that she took a fat load of money some days ago leaves me gobsmacked.
I know that they had a glitch with their credit card facilities before, so I urge you to check your statements if you can to avoid nasty surprises. I have contacted her but no answer back yet and informed my bank about this too.
I am sure that she didn’t do it on purpose but get kinda funny when someone is not careful with my payment data
Marja
11-05-2006, 02:06 PM
She did it to me too but there is a credit note also on my online credit card statement right after it so maybe go check your statement again, she may have refunded you already (for the full amount cos you cancelled).
KimmyS
11-05-2006, 02:36 PM
Nope, they only credited $30 not the whole amount so there is something seriously wrong with their billing system.
My first Kit was paid in full and received and even if this would have been another amount for the next kit by accident wher ethe heck does she get $75 from and only refund $30???
janee
11-05-2006, 10:38 PM
Hi Kim
Thats crap and you have me worried again as looks like my bank isn't letting her take my cc payment either again. If you remember they stopped it going out last month and said there had been some issues and were checking that the transactions weren't fraudulent.
mmm don't know what to do now - was going to give her a different card number but makes you wonder.
have you spoken to you bank?

Marja
11-05-2006, 11:35 PM
I just went to look and I was initially charged $75.95 and then credited $36.90. My total cost for this month's kit was £22.63 which is odd if Shirley got charged £18.50....
Has anyone else been charged £18.50 or did most get charged around £22?
Marja

Kimmy is she charging you a cancellation fee? I know she said she wouldn't charge you but perhaps she did. I think it was $25 to cancel or something...

We did have about 20 people this month who were double billed (we noticed it right away and refunded) do to a billing sequence error. However, we also had about 30 more who were double billed do to the fact that they have signed up for a membership on multiple months (meaning, they have multiple memberships in the system). We actually had about 150+ people who have done this, but we caught most of them before billing. I have had people actually purchase a new membership each month (so they end up with 3 and 4 that we try to catch). Anyhow, we are building a new site, with a log-in membership section, that will solve much of this problem. Please apologize to your friends – hopefully they have e-mailed me by now. If we have not issued a refund for some reason we will do it right away. We are not about taking people’s money. We are literally working night and day to get through this. Thanks so much! Jenni

I had an email yesterday from her as well - and she apologized for the mistake on their part. She admitted that I should have not been been charged ANYTHING as I was taken off her list (no cancellation charge applied as she confirmed in her first email to me when I cancelled my sub) and she was unsure how it came that I was still on there.
She said she has now refunded me the whole oustanding amount and I have alos intructed my bank to ensure no future payments form them can ever be taken off my card again.
It makes me even more determined to only sign up for Kits which can be paid via Paypal. To have someone run silly with your credit card details is so very unprofessional.
I have to say in her defence that she is still shipping me the Kit FOC as a way of saying sorry.

I must have been overcharged last month as I ordered the kit and the project kit and think I got billed for two amounts of postage, guessing they have deducted it from this months. I hope they can get their billing and web issues sorted quickly.

Just checked mine, and I've been charged £40.75, and then refunded £19.78, so I have paid £20.97, less than you Marja, strange don't you think?
On a more positive note, I have done a couple more LOs using firstly the April kit, and one using the May kit, they're on my blog here (http://jensworld.typepad.com/jens_world/)

Wow, what a nightmare. I better go and ask hubbie to check his card statement. I know what new systems can be like as the last company I worked for had similar problems. It depends on the system she uses. We had a world (not world pay but similar) program that would take the money when the card details were entered but sometimes it would charge twice (but not due to the details being entered twice) and we wouldn't know it had happened until a customer contacted us. In the end it was fixed and everyone refunded but I can understand how frustrating it is from both sides of the equation. Let's hope that she gets the new site up and running glitch free soon. Easy for me to say as I'm not sure that it's happened to me yet.
Kimmy, that's brilliant that she has sent you a kit free anyway, very nice of her.

Thankyou.
I just got home, and postie has left a card, so will leave it a couple of hours and then go to PO to pick it up.
I'm sure I will love it, I usually do. Kimmy, are any papers so "yesterday" ? It really depends on how you use them, but I guess everyone has different tastes.:)

Ha ha Shirley. Let's do it the other way round this time. You scrap first, and I'll scrap lift you:P
Actually I have to be honest, I have, as Kimmy says, already received these papers before two months ago in Scrapbook Obsessions kit. I do love the papers, but I haven't used the others yet, so I really need to find a series of photos that match up and get scrapping.
So I might challenge myself to that over this weekend.
I love the kit as usual, but I miss the metal box this month, the plastic one doesn't quite have the same feel about it. But I love all that bling we get.

Hurrah, mine arrived today and i love all the little bits and bobs. I agree about the metal box though, it does have a nice chunky feel to it. I've also already got these papers but I've used mine already on a CJ and love them. I love the fancy edged cardstock, I'll have to take a look at the site and see who makes it as I'd love to get some more.

and if you're cheap like me then you can draw around it and cut out lots of other cardstock in the same shape!!

Kate, hadn't thought of that.
I did a LO today using the white scalloped cardstock, and orange papers. I'm just deciding whether or not to include a title.
My scanner isn 't working today, , but I will upload, after I have taken some photos in the daylight.

Am I going mad or are there meant to be some brads (other than the flower ones) to hold the name plates in place?
hunib
26-05-2006, 03:58 PM
just checked my little box of bits and there are 6 brads in there that match the plates

Ahh, it must be something to do with me as I had something missing from the last one as well. Not sure whether to say anything as I had only one of the credit card stars in the last lot and so she sent me another tin with lots more stars with this kit. If I say anything, she'll just think I'm after more stash.
Were they dotty as well?
