I needed to tell someone and knew that you'd all share the joy lol. My aunt just found birth and marriage certificates for my great grandparents! I've had no joy searching for them because no-one knew their names and within 5 minutes I've possibly found my GG grandparents, gotta check it all out but it's looking good so far! Also found that my G grandad's brother was called Thomas so my Thomas is chuffed lol.

That's brilliant! It's so exciting when you find another missing bit of your past :)

After getting all excited just tell me how many Isabella Bainbridges would you think wanted to get married at the same time, roughly the same age lol, I can't even tinker about until I get Sam and Isabella's marriage certificate, they were even from the same town! I finally found what I hope is Samuel's birth record, he was put down as Downes not Downs.

I think this is a copying error on ancestry, everywhere I look I'm finding Bainbridge, yet on Ancestry I'm getting a Baindhloge, I can only find 10, all under marriages on ancestry and checking original scans on 1837online.com there is what looks to me like scribble and I haven't a clue what it says. It's more than likely Bainbridge, unless of course some of you have come across Baindhloge before?

hahahahahahahahahahahahaah, Oh I wish! My family is a nightmare to try and find, My Grandma was a Gelson, easy you'd think given it's one of the rarest surnames, but after 6 months I still can't find her mother. My other grandmother was a Tuttle, I can't find anything there and my grandfather on my dads side? A Graham!

Have you tried matching them on Freebmd.org? It allows you to search for all isabella Bainbridges marrying Samuel Downs in a period including soundex on the names. It my tie it down a little more.

Could be worse Jem. My father's family will be "easy" to research - Roberts, Williams and Jones, in North Wales
