I have just set up a new forum for the North Meols Family History Society here is the link
NMFHS Southport (http://nmfhssouthport.myfreeforum.org/)

If you are researching in this area please do register on the site and add requests or whatever. It's only been available to the public from today so there's no much on yet.

The North Meols Family History Society website is

NMFHS Southport (www.nmfhssouthport.co.uk)

I am the webmaster for the site as well as a card maker cum scrapbooker. :)

Ooh, I shall definitely be registering - not least cos it will shut Colin's constant whinging of 'never mind about YOUR family tree, what about MINE' ...

Come on then and post. Lol

I'm sure it'll soon pick up after all its the first day.

Do I take it he's from Southport?

Yep, he's a Crossens boy.

I nearly got as far as posting, but then got distracted by the TV ... I'm going to have a proper look tomorrow (cos I'm supposed to be finishing packing orders now and if I start looking now I will never get to bed).

I'm from Ainsdale but now live in Maghull (near Aintree Racecourse). I know Crossens well. LOL

I think I have a vague idea of where Maghull is ... I can get from the motorway to Col's Mum's house, and from there to his sister in Banks or to his Dad in Tarleton, but other than that I can't even find my way into town ... oh, apart from getting to the front ... that bit is easy even for me!

Thats not bad I wouldn't have a clue about going to Birmingham knowing me I'd end up in Scotland with my sense of direction! LOL

Hi Lynn
Well earlier on tonight I was really P**d off because I spent ages trying to enter one name onto the site - came back a few hours later and no problems at all. So hopefully loads of people were trying to access the site at the same time - just goes to show how popular it is already! Unfortunately because of my impatience (and using my 'refresh' once too often!) I seem to have entered one post (Marshall) twice. Will try to do better next time and not be so impatient!

No probs. If you have you can delete one. On the right hand side near edit there is a delete button with a cross.

I've done the same as you myself. LOL

Thanks Lynn
I added a few more names to the site last night - hope people don't start thinking "oh no - another post from GardenAngel"! One of my distant cousins in Australia has just registered on the site - I only found her while researching my tree and we have been in touch a few times but I hadn't got round to letting her know about this site. So good to know that people as far away as that have started looking at the site!

I hope lots of people join, the site is really easy to use.

(And I really must get along to a meeting soon, it's ages since I went to one! )

Hey you post all you want thats what its there for.

Not doing too bad seeing as its our first week.

I must add more of my own when I get a chance. I've been snowed under with order people are going mad for Primas. Just wait until thier new stock arrives soon - oh boy!!!

I hope we'll meet at one of the meetings. I went to one last week about the Southport Shrimpers it was very interesting although I didn't think it would be.

Best wishes

Lynn
