For all the girls involved on this CJ - as you know this is an "anything goes" CJ. This was initially Dyan Reaveleys idea and we must determine our themes so we can set some ideas up for planning.

In this thread - please meet and greet and talk amongst yourselves when you can and dont let this be a failure (most I have been on have flunked!). I know we all have comitments and stop gaps in our lives and of course there are allowances for weird and wonderful things that hold us up now and again.

Please be upfront if you are lagging but also please show respect for your "addressee". Im not Hitler but I dont want any unsightly incidents for me to take the blame either! I want to have fun fun fun and we have a great bunch of girlies on board - who are

Name ..................... Theme

Dyan Reavley................... Basic Grey Papers
Nicky (who workd with Dyan) Quintessentially British
Kirsty Wiseman ................. Anger Management
Jane Dean......................... Dressing up (arty paperdolls)
WakZak (Julia) .................. Things that make you go mmmmmmm (collage)
Scrap_happyuk (Julie)......... Wise Words and Good Advice
SarahH ............................ World on a plate (recipes of the world)
Judith.............................. Things I like
Flo_&_Co (Sarah)............... East v West
Magpie Mum..................... Handbags and Gladrags

Please pm me your addresses and emails and then I will work out itinerarys etc. ALSO - I need to know what themes you are choosing and I will update this post so you can glance from time to time.

I know Dyans book is 8x8 - the size should be either 6x6 or 8x8 bearing in mind anything bigger means bigger enevlopes and heavier postage costs.

Flo
16-02-2006, 01:03 AM
blimey - I didn't realise the company in here was going to be so scary/intimidating/impressive/super talented/downright wow!

:D

Kirsty - I had an 8"x4" book earmarked for this project - would that be ok? if not, I can easily switch to a 6x6, so not a problem....

love the anger management theme LOL

my theme is "East vs West"....some explanation....I was thinking about two of my favourite visual themes - oriental imagery, and cowboys (I looooooooove cowboys) - so I thought, rather than choose one or the other, how about "East vs West"....and let people choose whichever one speaks to them, and then at the end whichever theme has the most entries "wins". I'm not even fussed about how people interpret 'East' and 'West' - East could be geishas, or it could be East Anglia, or it could be the East Coast of America.....West could be the Wild West, or West End nightclubs, or Kanye West....you get the picture!

PMing you my addy straight away....

Sarah

PS I take my CJ commitments VERY seriously, so if anyone's going to be flaking on this one, it sure as billio won't be me.....

16-02-2006, 01:08 AM
8x4 is fine - i love unusual sizes myself - i think no bigger than 8" would be fine - across the board. I bet one of you will now say you have an 8.5" . tee hee xx

Flo
16-02-2006, 01:13 AM
great , 8x4 it is then :)

now I just have to work out whether to go landscape or portrait .....

Hiya all!!

Yay, we are up and running :D

My theme is "Wise Words & Good Advice"... Basically a book of all things you would tell your daughter to look out for/be aware of, or what you were told by your mother about our big wide world! Can be silly or serious, 'sup to you! (I still check that I don't have loo roll stuck to the bottom of my shoes when walking out of a public toilet - thanks Mum!!)

My book is a 7 x 5 - hope this is ok with you girls!

Kirsty - have pm'ed you :)

CAN'T WAIT TO GET STARTED!!

Hi! Just checking in!
Will pm you now with the details, not yet decided on the size or shape, but my theme will be 'World on a Plate'.

Catch up later when not so tired (flew back from the Falklands yesterday and still not too sure which way is up!)

Hi All

WAKZAK here!!!

My GOD!!! Didn't know the CREME DE LA CREME of the craft world would be involved (really scared - but excited at the same time).

I have just spoken to Julie who has enlightened me, as to how this all works. I must, I must, I must catch up.

I would like the theme to be about "Things That Make You go MMMMM" so anything from shoes/handbags/vodka/chocolate/art/paper/paints but no soppy photographs of kids or husbands please. Anything that makes you drool with delight!!!!! Hope this is OK with you all.

By the way will someone reply so that I know I'm doing this right!!! It's my age????

Just re reading the instructions.... can we all post first class RECORDED please? The cj I am currently in has had a few go missing but have all been returned to sender as they were recorded delivery. It is worth the few pennies more! Once these books become bulky and squishy, they become more inviting to the crooked postie too! Unlikely to be touched if they are recorded aswell. Just a thought, hope you all agree......

Flo

but no soppy photographs of kids or husbands please.

how about photos of men who aren't our husbands? ;)

I'll have to dust off my pic of the Desperate Housewives gardener again Julie - LOL

Flo
24-02-2006, 05:17 PM
I always post recorded anyway, out of pure superstition, not convinced that it makes much difference in reality though....

undelivered mail should be returned anyway, assuming it has an address on the back - but it does get returned quicker if it was sent recorded (the sorting office will keep it for 7 days vs 3 weeks)

Glad to be onboard, just getting the hang of this forum posting!

My theme is 'Things I Like' and the size of my book is 8 x 8. Anything goes into it, except the dreaded peel offs, glitter and fur! So go for it gals!!

Sarah... he IS a scrummy gardener, so young, so fit...(best stop dribbling in my keyboard!! lol)

But I do know what Julia means about the personal stuff...I wouldn't want a book of other peeps' families - just not my thing.

I always post recorded...for the extra pennies I feel better about sending out our precious artwork - I'd be gutted if I ever had my book lost, and would feel sooo guilty and responsible if someone else's book I was posting on went missing too.

Hope you are all well and getting stuck in, DH is out tonight so have already purchased my bottle of red for the evening, a "lazy cow" microwave meal for one, and a packet of Minstrels. Did I mention I am meant to be dieting??? Mwahhhahaha

Dyan send to Nicky, nicky sends to me, I send to jane and so on.

Post your work out Monday please and use recorded delivery when you can. As this is a three week turnaround, it might work out cheaper down the line to send second class recorded.

Im sorry I havent been so active, as you know I have a squillion things to do but Im passionate about this project and I want everyone to enjoy it.

Ill email the addresses of your posting buddy tonight xx

Can't wait to see Jane's CJ it looks amazing after looking at her blog. Still feel there are things missing from mine but will finish it when it gets back to me in September. I have left the back cover a little empty as I want to write something after it is finished (not sure what yet!!!)

Well onward and upward, more like upward to bed I'm shattered, work tomorrow, yuk!!!! Need to keep the wolf from the door and more stash in the cupboards.

Kirsty hope you don't work to late, but I know you'll enjoy. Julie will post tomorrow, hope you're OK!!

glad to see I'm not the only last minute Lizzy!

I'm just putting the finishing touches to mine - I have to print off a little tiny bit to pop in an envelope on my layout, and I'm waiting for Glossy Accents to dry on an accent before I glue it on - but other than that, I'm done, hallelujah!! I didn't think it would ever be finished.

(and I have another CJ starting soon so I'll be going through this all again next weekend - why oh why do we put ourselves through this?! LOL)

Gill I'll be posting tomorrow, so stalk the postie on Tuesday - it'll be going recorded delivery, so I hope he doesn't knock on your door too early...

Kirsty, your CJ arrived safely with my gorgeous young postman this morning, anyway, after we chatted about footie and I lent him the new Goal DVD I came in to open the box. I sat down to stroke the lushessness and do you know what happened? The dog jumped up at me, knocked my cup of hot choccie all over it then grabbed it out of my hand and chewed it all up. But it's allright. I stuck it all back together again and wiped the drink off it and you would never know it happened so please don't worry. I am sure once it's dried nobody will ever know and if there are any marks I can always make another, I'm sure I had an old notebook from Woolies lying round somewhere....

It's gorgeous mate, I'm not going to post it on early so I can stroke it some more, thanks for the little pressie too, it was very kind xxx

Hi Julie

Glad you got my CJ. Just a thought for everyone else really. Would it be possible for you to leave the blank pages seperate from the CJ for the next person on the list as it will be easier for them to decorate and then they can just put them in as they finish. What do you think?

I know I made it difficult for you as I think the holes need to be bigger!!!

Anyway have fun and no dribble marks on my CJ it just all gets too messy.:P

scarily you like LOADS of the same things as me, so I'm going to have to think of a different twist on the "things I like" theme or we're going to end up with two identical pages :) (although I'm not overly keen on the band you mentioned....but my son likes them if that counts)

scarily you like LOADS of the same things as me, so I'm going to have to think of a different twist on the "things I like" theme or we're going to end up with two identical pages :) (although I'm not overly keen on the band you mentioned....but my son likes them if that counts)

Sarah

Glad you like it, I panicked a lot over it! Your son has taste! A good local band for me!!

Sarah, your journal arrived just as I was leaving for work, its gorgeous, I had earmarked the very same paper& stickers to 'Go West' with:lol: as we have them in the shop! never mind I may 'go east' instead  we will see:ph34r: It is gorgeous, I'm really going to enjoy this:D
I think I will give you the shop address & have them sent to work as I'm always there on a Tuesday & my postie doesn't come till late.
I wonder if Dyan got mine safe? I'm at Art From The Heart on the 14th so I will see then!

firstly I picked up the new Simply Cards and Papercraft in Tescos, and you were on the front, and then my Scrapbook Mag subs copy came, and you're on the front of that too!

I reckon it's your subtle way of getting into my subconscious so that I don't forget the next posting date ;)

how's everyone getting on?

I'm working to a slightly less last-minute schedule with my entry in Jude's "Things I Like" CJ than I did when I when I was getting my own book together (thankfully!)

My entry is all done, I just need to decorate my tag

Now I'm worndering what I'm going to do differently when Things That Make You Go Mmmmmm arrives, as essentially it's the same theme....

I might even post on a day or two early, Gill - is that OK? It's a nightmare going to the PO on Mondays because it's pension day!

Hi Julie

Don't feel blue:(

Your DH will be back before you know it!!:D I have to tell you about Harrogate it was fab. Darling Dyan was there with all her new fabuloso stuff (all orange, lime green and yellow + pink blonde moments too) she has also brought out some new paints all lustre in bold colours green, pink, blue etc these look good enough to drink like a thick shake, yummeee:P !!! Next month will ring Art from the Heart and order them can't wait. I will put a photo of the stash I bought, sorry to make you feel even more blue:( but I just had to share. I'm so excited:P . Have also finished my art doll, have had the best time in fact I would like her to stay here in Blackpool (so she may get lost in the post, only kidding) Will post Monday.

Love ya loads and keep your chin up.

having a giggle here as both the CJs I've had so far in this circle have been very adamant that we shouldn't use peeloffs.

I'm half tempted to buy some just to wind you all up LOL

But did you know they're hugely "in" in America with quite artistically minded types? it's really funny how tastes differ across the miles....

Flo
19-04-2006, 01:35 PM
I am sure your mother warned you about boys - didn't she??!!!

you know what? I don't think she ever did! no wonder I made some pretty naff choices.

I am racking my brains trying to think of advice my mum ever gave me....there were plenty of orders and instructions (most of which I ignored!), but not so much advice that I felt I could take or leave

my parents were kind of formal though....not strict as such, just fairly reserved

scrap-happyuk
19-04-2006, 01:38 PM
Well in that case...IF you had a daughter, what is the one bit of advice you would want to arm her with before her first/date/kiss/drink/nightclub/night of passion.... list is endless!! Is there anything you had wish you'd been told??

I must admit I wasn't given advice either - just constantly being told what to do and not to do (Mother STILL tells me now, and I am a Mum...don't get me started!!)....another reason for making this book for my daughter :)

Flo
19-04-2006, 01:45 PM
oh - don't worry - I have made soooo many mistakes over the years, that if I did have a daughter I'd have plenty to warn her about! not anything I'd put in your CJ though, don't want to drag the mood down!

I have an idea of something slightly less serious, don't worry :)

Gill - "things that make you go mmmmmm" is on its way to you

and I have just taken delivery of Jane's art doll CJ - wow! Judith - I especially love your entry!

I'm going to be doing an entry in a slightly different style to the others, I hope that's ok. I've had an idea for this one since I first saw the cover on Jane's blog, and I can't shake it :)

(I think I will need 2 pages though, Jane, and one previous person has also used 2, so you'll be at least 2 pages short...)

Sarah

Glad you liked it, as I was a bit, well scared as I havn't done anything like that, but now I have I am on a roll to do more! Thanks Jane for the subject!!

in that case I'll do everything I can to get it finished tonight Gill - I've been faffing around with it all week! You know when you just don't seem to be able to pull it all together? that's what's happening to me. I just keep moving things around and sighing. LOL.

It's the pressure!

But good - knowing that you need it will kind of force me to pull myself together and get it finished!!

Sarah :)

*edited to add - if despite my best efforts I do end up needing one extra day - could I post it direct to Jane's perhaps?*

I'm putting my hands up here to say I haven't even started mine yet - I thought it was next week and I can't get into my room to scrap because of alterations in the rest of the house. We're trying to get bedrooms finished for Gill & family coming on Wednesday.

I'll send it on tomorrow so that it doesn't hold anyone up, I've pencilled my name on the two pages to leave them blank then I'll post my entry later to be stuck down (I'll put ds sticky tape on the back of my pages)

I hope that's acceptable? I dont want to dash it off in one evening or make it late and cut down time for others.

if so, then yes, I have no problem with you sending on your entry after the event - just make sure you measure the pages before you post it LOL (oh - and hold back a tag for signing in on)

also - could you please PM me your addy so that I can post the CJ for Gill directly to your house for her attention?

cheers

I went great guns on Jane's CJ last night, and came very close to finishing it - finally I actually managed to get going

I had a very firm idea of what I wanted to do for my entry - I have had ever since I saw Jane's journal on her blog right back at the start - but actually getting the idea in my head down onto paper has been sooooooo difficult. I've started and stopped and scrapped it and gone back to square one three times this week!

I'm still not 100% happy with the way it has turned out :( But it's as close as I can get, I think!

It will be finished off tonight, and posted direct to Jane's tomorrow, first class

Sorry to disappoint the ladies in your shop, Gill :(
But presumably you will be able to show it to them after your trip to Jane's, before its next posting date? (it's a CRACKING journal - it'll blow your socks of - so they'll definitely want to see it!)

yet another apology from me - Gill - the good news is that the CJ is on its way to you c/o Jane's

the bad news is it went today, not yesterday, apologies, but the world was conspiring against me!

I've sent it Special Delivery to make absolutely certain that it reaches you tomorrow, I didn't want to risk any further delay

And I have taken delivery this morning of Kirsty's brilliant Anger Management journal - hilarious - it has been all around my office! (but don't worry, I didn't let anyone look at all your secrets in the back....)

Mortgage - sheesh I'd forgotten (temporarily) about that one!! Long and the short of it is that we need to take out a repayment mortgage and start again...cash in the darling endowment and try not to dwell on the thousands we have lost...our financial advisor (another bloody shark if you ask me) said for us to get back what we can and move on...this little bit of advice cost us £250

Post on when you're ready...I'm in on Mondays to sign for the post (love this post, don't you??!)

Scrapcamp sounds fun...but Bristol - how long is that drive gonna take you??!!

Wakzak
08-07-2006, 12:44 AM
Hi Julie

Sorry so late. Drive will take about 5 hours but it will be worth it, Elsie is going to be there from AMERICA. If not sure who she is look at Kirsty's blog. At the moment I need some inspiration, don't seem to be able to find my style, its all over the place.

that was Julie's - she was only joking! She didn't dare put it in the book, I think she should have done!

I'm just putting finishing touches to my entry in Kirsty's

It SHOULD definitely go in the post tomorrow, but I know I have meetings at work almost wall to wall tomorrow and there's a slim chance I might miss the post office - if that's the case it will definitely go out Tuesday (and I can post to your home address in that case if need be Gill, as I don't think you're at the shop on Wednesdays are you?)

Jane, can I be horribly cheeky and ask if you have had a chance yet to complete the page for my East vs West CJ that you were going to send on separately?

It was the fact that you (along with Kirsty and Dyan, and of course all the other obscenely talented people!) were on board that made up my mind I had to join in with this CJ (not name dropping you Gill as you weren't signed up at the time :)), despite having zero free time to fit it into LOL

I'd hate to end up with my page from you getting overlooked forever :(

(so sorry to be a nag!)

Have a great holiday

Sarah :)

Jane
17-07-2006, 09:39 AM
I'm sorry you feel the need to ask :(
I think you will find when you get your book back that EVERY person in the CJ has completed stunning entries, no matter who they are.
It will be done by the end of the circle.

Flo
17-07-2006, 10:27 AM
indeed - because they are all obscenely talented! I've been blown away by everything I've seen going around, this is definitely the best CJ I've ever had the pleasure of playing in :)

Hi all, hope you are all enjoying this glorious weather! Just checking in to say that I am currently planning the handbags cj and will be able to post out on time to you Jude.

Looking ahead, the last round of this cj is going to be AFTER my baby is here and with a CSection booked and two others to look after as well as my new bundle, I may be a little pushed for time!!

Could either Jude (it will be her entry) or Julia (who has Judes book at the mo) pm me with the dimensions and the brief for the entry plus any other info I may need? I would like to get this done asap so I don't let anyone down. I can give my entry to Julie to put in after hers.
