Each participant to choose a colour and alter 10 bottle tops using that colour, including beads paint, cardstock what ever takes your fancy.

The altered bottle tops should then be sent to kittenglitter for swapping and you will receive one top of each colour back. Please include a label with your name and address and return postage.

I've been so busy responding to PMs that I haven't even read the thread. Someone asked about the availability of bottle tops. Mine are white ones of cheap beer that my father in law collects for me. I have quite a few and will only use ones in good shape. I don't suggest that you go out and buy them, but Wilkinsons do sell a bag of 50 for £1.99. They can be painted with acrylics or coloured with alcolol inks I even think that OHP pens would work. I think I'm going to put fimo in mine. I'll try it anyway and see how it goes. I think inclusions will stick and look good. I'll have play.

Has anyone flattened recycle bottle tops e.g. from J20 etc. ? I am using my Sizzix machine but they are not flattening evenly. The unused ones from scrapbooking supplier are flattening great though.

So, who is doing flattened ? or filled ?

I have flattened and filled, because there is still a small recess. I use a spoon and a hammer on a setting mat. Place the spoon over the bottle top and bang at it. Turn the bottle top and try to hit the spoon in the same place. This results in even splaying. I have used old bottle tops, my father-in-law drinks cheap beer so there are no logos. Don't worry just paint sand or distress until you get what you want. This was intended to be a cheap swap so don't buy be a magpie. :blink:

Have dug out my box of beads and wire and collected togther all things pink, am using s/h bottle tops thanks for the idea of using my sizzix machine to flatten them - when you say fill do you mean with foam tape or what? Hi everyone
RE filling them, Anitas do something called clear gloss finish which is around £3.00 for a 2 fl oz or 59ml bottle. I imagine one of the sponsors sells it. Glossy accents is much more expensive and diamond glaze even more so. I suppose it depends on what you have or how much you have to play with. All of them do the same thing and I think I read in a mag that polyurethane varnish works a treat too. :)

another mag Scrapbook answers has an article on themed bottle tops if anyone has the mag, that's another source of inspiration and the idea behind the swap incidentally. :blink:

Scrapbook inspirations demonstrates how to smash em. Apparently you'll need a lump of wood (and your boyfriend's/husband's head will not do :lol: ) Just joking. No offence intented. The crimpled edge folds onto itself and gives a neat finish to the edge (circumfrence), I use a spoon which results in a larger frill with a rougher edge. You can go the whole hog an flatten them completely. Variety! With bottletops the possibilities are wide and varied. Just have fun, play.

Excuse me for sounding dumb!!!BUT.....

If i am decorating inside the bottle cap, do I just decorate the inside and then maybe paint the outside but not decorate it!! and if flattening them just decorate one side???? (as there is no point if it gets stuck down or do I decorate both sides!!! feeling stupid now but does anybody know what I mean???

I wouldn't go mad on the outside because no-one is going to see it. Yup I know what you mean. Just do what you are doing to the side that will be seen and don't worry about the rest. I have not gone mad with the base. Like you said, no-one will see it. :D

Mmm me too! :D It is much better than th other mag with a free stamp. I think it is called craft stamper. That mag focuses on cardmaking, where this one is about altered art. I read in one of the articles from this months issue that submissions should not include peeloffs. I don't mean to offend, but I really dislike peeloffs :nono: They just make me think of crafting shows on tv. Yeah they have their place, but they are overused in my opinion. I don't mean to be harsh. :D

Feel free to copy the blinkie. :D To do this sucessfully right click on the image. Go to the bottom of the screen and click properties, left click over the url and copy. Hi ladies. Done two layouts today. Wow that is good for me. I really enjoyed doing them. I now have a new album and I have four pics of my youngest (who loves being photographed) and only one of my eldest (because he hates being photographed. What's a scrapper to do? Like everyone here I have been busy too. That's why I haven't been on. Glad everyone seems to be okay. I am still really excited about the swap. Can't wait for the others to arrive. :D (seriously no pressure, just excitement). Like you I have been experimenting. Mica powders, sealing wax, hot melt glue to name but a few things that I've been playing with. Will upload some when I'm happy with the results. But I've been having lots of fun.

Not much been going on in this thread. We are just waiting for one set of bottle tops and we are way ahead of the schedule. I am so pleased with the quality of the bottle tops that have been produced. Everyone is so crafty. The colours and styles are quite varied so there should be something there for everyone. I know that you are going to love all of them.

Anyway off to bed now as I have just returned to work after a long absence and boy has today taken it out of me. :D

I haven't made any more bottle tops either. Plan to do some this weekend. I made 6 ATCs last night. They are themed musical ones. They were made for a swap in my team thread. Only six of us are interested in ATCs at the moment. I cannot post a piccie or it will spoil the surprise. I am really loving them too. What's everyone else been up to?

Hi everyone, i've been busy this week doing my spring tags for a swap and completing a cj entry, also managed to take part in my 1st ever weekly challenge which i really enjoyed doing, it was also my 1st ever completed LO!!!! Also received a lovely journal back from the journal swap so had a good week all in all. Plus we are going to Scotland for a long weekend so hopefully a fab weekend too!!!!

Went to Wilko at the weekend and bought 3 packets of bottletops. They had 4 left but I thought it is considerate to at least leave 1.

I have made a few and have ideas for more. I'll post a photo when I have a nice selection.

Hi Everyone.

There is such a buzz in this thread the moment that I had to join in. I posted them all on Monday. Would have liked to have posted them on Saturday, but I missed the post office. I am so glad that you all love them so much. I really enjoyed hosting the swap. You all seem thrilled with the outcome and that is a bonus as I have 10 great bottle tops to play with. I am so happy that it all went so well.

Thanks Trixiebelle for leaving feedback. I had asked Godiva to do it, but You only get one trader rating per swap so there's no need now. I need to leave trader ratings for you guys so off to do that now.

It's been great. I'm sorry it has come to an end, but I think I will organise another swap. It was so much fun.

There is a new swap. Currently there are three places left. Just thought I'd let you know. I've been at work all day and didn't realise when I posted the new swap request to Chris that it would be set up the following day. She is super rapid. Anyway. Just thought I'd pop in and mention it. I also sent a message to Lily my Lovely to say that the bottle swap was finished. Don't know if this means the end of the thread.
