jainethepain
07-02-2006, 06:21 PM
can we have some details please - I haven't a clue what's involved :)

nejxr25
07-02-2006, 08:24 PM
jaine i have pm'd you

All you need to do it pick a theme and make/buy a CJ big enough for a ATC to go on a layout, so about 4x4 , 6x6 would be good sizes ,nothing bigger than 6x6 .
i will need your address , telephone number and email address

there have been a lot of problems in the passed with CJ's ,so i will be keeping a very close eye on the posting and recieveing of everyone's CJ's.To this end i will be keeping a log of where the CJ's are and will try to make sure that no one ends up posting to someone who already has 1 cj in there hands still .
that way i hope that if the worst happens only 1 CJ would be involved n going missing , soory this is long winded and sounds a bit strict but we all know what sort of things happen

ok so if you still want to sign up , go ahead

Jane

I think given the size of the CJ and the fact there's only one ATC on a page, we shouldn't have any problems with this!

Jane
07-02-2006, 10:33 PM
I would just like to do colours in mine please

jainethepain
07-02-2006, 10:36 PM
I'd like my theme to be "I Love The Sound Of"..... and the first person that does "Breaking Glass" gets a booby prize :)

SuzieR
07-02-2006, 10:51 PM
Hi, I'm interested in this, but worried as I've never done any ATCs before - do you think 'I'll be out of my depth? Be honest! :) I have completed 4 CJs so far.

jainethepain
07-02-2006, 10:56 PM
Hi Suzie - you already know the hard bit, that's the CJ! Go and have a look in the ATC section of the altered forum. I'm sure you'll see that there's nothing to be afeared of :)

KatieM
07-02-2006, 11:01 PM
I'd like to join if that is ok. I have a CJ finishing on Thursday, so will be below the 3 limit. If I am allowed to please could my theme be 'My AlterEgo' (don't cringe at the pun!)
Thanks Jean,

Kathryn :)

(Oh, am I also sad to have noticed that the names of the people who have signed up have the initials J, K, L? Could be because I did a lesson about dictionaries with my class today!)

SuzieR
07-02-2006, 11:20 PM
Ok, put me down please, if that's ok :D

(No J,K or L here Katie! :) )

Clare
07-02-2006, 11:26 PM
ooh I said no more but I cant resist this one  please can I sign up jean? :)

and I have a theme already!

'a work of art' - your page and atc must include an image of a painting/drawing. (ie a FAMOUS and expensive one :P )

great theme Clare - just as long as I'm not expected to paint/draw it myself!!! :D

Lovely theme Clare. I just put a great pic of an art deco painting in my art journal the other day. I will ponder on the thought of a theme as the only thing I can think of at the mo is flowers which would probably be too boring for a ATC CJ (it sounds boring to me!!)

SuzieR
07-02-2006, 11:59 PM
I'm getting into this idea now! Been checking out the ATC thread :)

My theme will be 'Self Portrait' ... doesn't have to be an actual self portrait  but something that defines who you are! :)

Clare
08-02-2006, 12:08 AM
rofl.... Ive just done a set of 4 ATC's with a degas painting and I LOVED doing it - thats why Id love to see everyone else can do with the theme LOL - you can download from the internet LOADS of art - all the 'poster' sites and the art sites have images that are detailed enough to be printed out atc size.... just dont tell anyone else I said to do that

I actually bought a book on the impressionists (artists rather than funny guys) in borders just last week as it had a LOT of nice atc sized pics in....it was only £1 in the sale bin!

oh - and I LOVE art deco best in all the world LOL (and was my second choice theme..... :D )

i was interested in this idea when it was mentioned in atc chat - am in 3 cjs already though......would you rather i wait till next one is started. :)

Clare
08-02-2006, 03:58 PM
I can show you my example of 'a work of art' atc's now that kirsty has received them :D

I used a pic of Degas dancers cut from a book, and because it was quite large I made it over 4 atcs so each one is like a piece of a puzzle.

KatieM
08-02-2006, 05:24 PM
Oh Clare they are stunning! How fantastic. I had this picture on some soaps I had when I was younger (I collected them!)

Kathryn :)

I adore those ATC's Clare, you talented lady!

Clare
09-02-2006, 01:26 AM
*blush* glad you like them!

Ive been looking through my stash and I think I might use a square sarabook for my book - the pages are a little less than 6x6 and just a nice size.

Jean are we doing a single side for each person or a double spread? and if its a double - is that an atc on EACH page or one atc and one page to compliment?

KatieM
09-02-2006, 09:45 AM

Very good questions! I am looking forward to being part of this CJ. I'm hoping that I will learn to think 'outside the box' and be a little more artistic, so please pack some of your talent into the envelopes for me ladies!

I think given the size of the pages a double spread wouldn't be difficult. I'd feel too limited by a single page!

SuzieR
10-02-2006, 10:52 AM
Hi everyone
Just wanted to let you know that my computer is broke  so I won't be on here much until it is fixed/replaced. But don't forget me! I will be working on my CJ while I don't have the distraction of the computer! :) Will pop on when I can get to the library (kids permitting!)

Catch up with you all soon I hope :)

Are there any spaces left? I have just sent off the last entry of my first CJ, although it doesn't officially end for another 3 weeks. Would love to join in if there is a space. :)

10-02-2006, 06:00 PM
Double for me too. Thanks for having me. :)

Clare
10-02-2006, 06:26 PM
Im happy with a double page...... is it an atc for each page or ONE atc on one side with a complimentary facing page? or should we just do each one as it comes however we feel is best at the time?

Jay
10-02-2006, 07:12 PM
Double sounds good to me. I would think ATC on each page, but matching/complimenting as you would do a DLO.
Thanks for having me by the way.

Hi everyone! I am back at last after nearly 3 weeks without a pc! (felt like soooo much longer!). Just in time for the site to go down tomorrow!

The good news is I have had time to work on my CJ, although it's still not quite finished of course!

Haven't read through this thread yet, but will do so now to catch up on everything.

Received the email - no problems with publication apart from the fact that no-one would actually want to see my stuff in print!

Jay
28-02-2006, 10:37 PM
Lisa and Suzie I've had a look at your galleries and they are both fab.
Lisa, your Holliwood Glamour ATCs are stunning.

Ok, so I have a stupid question ...

How are you going to attach the ATC to the page? Is it a big nono to stick it in? Or am I missing something glaringly obvious? (entirely likely!)

Well if you are missing it, then so am I Suzie!
I was wondering the same thing. I have made my journal, thought about my entry and I'm hoping to get more done this week.

Kathryn :)

SuzieR
05-03-2006, 01:12 PM
Glad it's not just me! Just a bit confused, as the details of who did the ATC will be on the back, so if it's stuck in how will you see the back?

Must admit though, I was thinking of not doing a sign in page too, as my theme is self portrait I didn't really see the need for one...

nejxr25
05-03-2006, 01:49 PM
i have attached one of the clear trading envelopes to the page and that way the ATC just pops in the top , i will scan it this afternoon/tonght and let you see what i mean

SuzieR
05-03-2006, 05:08 PM
Ah! knew there must be a simple answer! I will check out the links in the ATC forum to track some down! thanks! :D

Clare
05-03-2006, 07:50 PM
you can also make paper pockets, envelopes, cut notches to hold them, use photo corners..... theres lots of ways you can attach them to the pages.... see how many different ones we can all come up with!

nejxr25
05-03-2006, 08:51 PM
that sounds like a challenge to me clare

Jay
05-03-2006, 09:18 PM
I've made little pockets for mine. I have done a sign in page in case anyone wants to stick theirs in, but as Clare says, it will be good to see how many different ideas we can come up with to attatch them.
My CJ is all done and ready to go.

mum2a16yrold
05-03-2006, 11:35 PM
Just a quick question, I know we said 6" x 6" but is 7" x 5" OK, or would this not work as well with the ATC's.

Jay
06-03-2006, 12:04 AM
7 x 5 should be fine Ann. I would think if it was too big the ATCs might get lost, but other than that I don't think it would matter.

nejxr25
06-03-2006, 01:56 PM
i dont see a problem with that size

KatieM
07-03-2006, 07:33 AM

Ooh, thank you, that's very kind of you!

KatieM
07-03-2006, 10:39 PM
I have a couple of questions please!
Although many thanks first to Jaine for the sleeves that arrived today! Let me know what I can give you in return!

Ok, are you allowed to shape the cards - do they have to stay predominantly card shaped? (EG, is it allowed to trim the middle of the card to make it look like a body's waist)
Also, can you attach objects to the cards that stick out from the card or is the size of the card the largest it can be.
Hope they make sense and many thanks for the help with them!

Kathryn :)

Clare
07-03-2006, 10:55 PM
i would say yes to trimming as long as its outside bounadries are still 3 1/2 by 2 1/2 and no to attaching anything that makes the card larger than one of the little plastic sleeves if thats what you are using! in normal circumstances it wouldnt work having bits sticking over the edges, most people store their atcs in poly pockets that are made for a card the right size and extra bits would mean it didnt fit, but as we are storing these atcs in the actual CJ's, then the page will be made for it and it will 'fit' so it should be ok.

did that make any sense? LOL!!

KatieM
07-03-2006, 11:17 PM
Perfect sense Clare! That's what I was wondering. As we are putting them into a CJ I wondered about being able to play around a little more. I suppose if anyone didn't mind sticky-out bits they could mention it on their CJ.
Can't wait to get making now!

Kathryn :)

mum2a16yrold
07-03-2006, 11:43 PM
I have made my actual CJ and decorated the cover, ended up doing 6" x 6" after all. Just my pages to do now, I am not doing sign in pages either, as you will all be signing the cards. :)

nejxr25
08-03-2006, 09:27 AM
katie you have me intrigued as to what your ATC's are going to look like

KatieM
08-03-2006, 08:39 PM
Nothing spectacular Jean! I was just thinking about using the ATC in my CJ as part of a whole thing, rather than the whole thing being on the card. May not work, but I'll have a go!

Kathryn :)

Clare
10-03-2006, 11:17 AM

11-03-2006, 09:43 PM
hi girls... just signing in :D you ready for me causing havoc????

ah.. general ejay well, we work well together ;)

on a more serious note: thanks for letting me play girls, it is always a bit strange to come into group at a late date and i was sorry to hear that kirsty had to bow out due to other commitments..

I have been doing atcs for a few years now.. though mine are usually a tad different ;) but ill try and stick to the "norm" whatever that is in atcs ..
My theme is going to be dragons.. any kind of dragon.. fierce, friendly, cute, scary... so long as its a dragon... maybe avoid photos of mothers in laws but if that is your interpretation of a dragon.. cool with me..

Right then, i think i have a journal to knock together.. oh dear.. was it wednesday???

Thanks girls and im sure itll be a laugh

please ignore my prevoiuse message about smurfie joining use on further thinking i realised we did have 11 people in this cj meaning that it woul prabably take well over a year for them to make ther rounds and get back home , so i have desided to stick to just the 10 of use , ive pm'd smurfie to let her know

so could you please just cross out wanna_scrap on the emails i sent and this will mean that Bettine will post to ellejay

Well, I thought that he had spent the night at his girlfriends but she has just rung to say she hasn't seen him since 9.30 last night, so now I am really worried. I really don't know what to do, I have been looking for him, but I can't find him and he's not answering his mobile.

He came back at about half six, still in a foul mood. I despair of him, he is taking his GCSE's this spring, he is really bright, but he just can't be bothered and now he is skipping school to hang around with another lad that has got in with a real bad crowd. I just don't know what to do, school have said they are going to put him on exam leave if he doesn't stop it, but I think that will just make things even worse. Sorry to ramble.

Did you hug him or slap him first!?
My BIL did this when he was 17 - my MIL was despairing and asking me what I thought as I was a Sociology student at the time!
This was about 13 years ago.
Glad he is safe though!

I haven't any older children and I have to say I was a goody goody while I was growing up, but I'm sure he will eventually realise how fab his Mum is and how rotten he was as a teenager and then feel really guilty and treat you to make up for it! Oh, and his GF will probably give him an earbashing too for worrying you all!

Jay

Jay, did you get it, the other CJ I posted at the same time has landed, so fingers crossed.

I think it's waiting at the sorting office. I had a slip through the door to say they had tried to deliver it (I was in all day!). When I went to the sorting office the postman hadn't come back in yet and wouldn't be in before closing time, so I will have to wait until Monday :(
We've had problems with our post recently and the more I complain the worse it gets. They are always putting notes through without ringing the bell. B****y P.O.

mum2a16yrold
19-03-2006, 12:28 PM
Jay, I have exactly the same problem, the other day I was in the dining room, right next to the door, when I heard the letter box, I was busy doing something so left it until I had finished, there on the mat was my mail minus a parcel and a slip to say, they are sorry but I wasn't in. There is no way he rang the bell or even knocked. It is things like this that give RM a bad name.

Jay
19-03-2006, 09:46 PM
It makes you want to spit, doesn't it? Our sorting office isn't far away, but that's not the point, it means an extra journey.

Jean...just a thought but should i post my cj on seeing as how its done? Reason I ask is that our next posting day is Easter Saturday, smack in the middle of two bank holidays and i dont trust royal mail at the best of times, never mind with the easter post/hols:huh: What do you think?:)

nejxr25
01-04-2006, 10:09 PM
you can do for me , i have nearly finished the one i have but that doesn't mean i have to send it to jaine.i think the main thing is always to confirm when it's sent and if it arrives and as long as they go by the date 15th of the month , i dont see a problem

Jean's has arrived today. I'm intrigued and a little flustered by it!
Jean, can I just check with you - is it anything weird AND wonderful, or weird OR wonderful? If you see what I mean! Sorry to ask a daft question but I don't want to get it wrong!

Kathryn :)
