The little girl on the ATCs was among some photos I bought from a car boot sale, there was an album with half a dozen pics in for £1. I asked the man selling them whether they were his ancestors. He said "I dunno, they might be, I was just clearing out the attic". Well I'm glad the poor mite has found someone who appreciates her! :lol: I think she looks a real character, wish she was a relative of mine.

This is a 'free for all' Karen - you ask for the ones you like, and offer the same number in return, either by putting some in the TRADE PICTURES ONLY THREAD for your swappee's to choose from, or some people like a surprise so you can make them as you go. A fairly quick turnaround is expected though, so I tend not to look at the lovely ATCs on offer until I have some to swap cos I'd be disappointed to miss out on some I love if I haven't got any ready to exchange! :lol:

Just to let LME and Jaine know I received their ATCs today. They are all gorgeous, have put in my binder and can't stop looking at them! Have been playing today, and have done another 6, just waiting for them to dry. Will put them up tomorrow, Jainethepain has first choice as I owe her one, and Motherduck has second pick, as I promised. But there will be 4 more up for grabs tomorrow. I only posted my ATCs today (sorry) as my local shop only had 2nd class stamps and I thought it better to wait till I got 1st class stamps. Anyway - mine were posted 1st class today - hopefully they will be with you tomorrow, Jaine, LME and Jay.

Can I ask a question please? I have seen lots of ATCs in the Feb pics that I would love to have, but I haven't asked to trade because - say I asked someone to trade with me, and they didn't like the ones I had put up for trade in the thread. Would that not be a bit embarrassing on both sides? I mean, say for instance I PM'd Jane asking for one of hers (this is just a hypothetical, you know) and then Jane looked at what I had to offer and didn't want them - well, wouldn't we both be a bit embarrassed?

I am dying to ask for some of the ones in the Feb pics, but am so afraid of gettng a "thanks but no thanks" and also don't want to put anyone else in the awkward position of saying they don't want what I've made! As I've only just joined in with this I would really appreciate a bit of advice on this. And apologies to Jane for "taking her name in vain" on the hypothetical question! I guess I would be OK with asking someone to swap, and then they saying no thanks. I understand I'm really new to this, and what I'm doing right now woudn't be to everyone's taste. But what I don't want to do is make someone feel they have to accept my stuff, to save hurting my feelings. Do you know what I'm going on about?! Please be blunt and let me know if you think I should ask to trade, or wait till others ask me.

What I do is pm the person with the ATC I would like and say i wish to trade, I explain that i make them quite regularly and I will let them know each time I upload any new ones. I offer them first refusal of anything I make untill trade is complete.

Oh just meant to say, CC8 - if you put "paperartsy" into a Google search it will take you right there.

But also, on here, Lemon is doing a pre-order for Catslife stamps. I think the deadline is tomorrow (Wednesday). Just do a search for posts by Lemon and you'll find it. The Catslife stamps are gorgeous, and so cheap. (Think I have ordered about £40 worth!)

Hi Kerry,

It is a difficult one especially when you're new to the "group" as I am.

Since joining I've put a couple of sets up and had no interest in them, so I just leave them there till I need the room, then pop them back up later when new people join.

Just remember, we are all different and all have different tastes in ATC's. As long as you would be happy to receive what you make for trade, someone out there will eventually ask for it.

Maybe you could make a few more and get them onto the picture thread, that way you will get a feel for how well you work is going down with folks, and you will probably get some request from people who's ATC you want.

No :lol: no-one ignores you. Usually everyone is happy to trade but if they dont select something from your uploaded images you just keep making more till youve sealed the deal. But remember to tell the people you owe to so they get first dibs!
everyone is really patient and accomodating. x

I think this is one of the best threads on here if you're new. There's always someone around to welcome you, and plenty who will give you good advice if you ask. It's great to find people who want to share their talent and help each others.

If you fancy giving it a go Kerry, you can always join the monthly swap, you don't have to worry there as you just send and receive 2 ATC's a month.

Karen, I think you have mis understood what I was saying.......or else I have mis understood your reply!!! :lol:

Either - you ask someone for one of their ATCs - good idea to do it in a pm so they don't miss it on the thread - then ask if they'd like any of yours that you have put up to trade...... then they will reply to you, saying which one they'd like and you swap addresses by pm once a swap is agreed. If you see one you love and can't bear to miss out on even though you don't have any/many to trade at the time, then you can pm the person asking if they'd like one of the ones you've got, or a surprise in return for the one they send you............. a lot of people don't mind taking a surprise and will say so....... then you swap addresses by pm.

Or..... if you have pictures up of ones you have made to trade them someone will pm you asking for one (or more!) then say to choose from theirs- you choose from theirs, swap addresses.

My binder's filling up(over 4 pages of trades now) and I've only been going a month! I have a look through it most days - it's great :)

Hi, am very new to this - and also knew that I shouldnt really have looked at the threads because no doubt I am now going to get horrendously addicted and I dont do enough housework as it is!!!

Basically dab them onto a piece of felt attached to a handle (did you buy a handle at the same time as the inks?) and then dab it all over the work you are creating. I love Tim's inks so pm me if you want anymore info - also I am going to one of his classes on Saturday (am hoping it will be a bit different from his other classes and involve some metallic inks) - will let you all know how I get on!

Just put some more to trade on the picture thread on page 1. I bought some new pearl embossing powder at the papercraft show on Sunday, so had to have a play with it. I must say, I do like it. :lol: I did the backgrounds with the shaving foam thing out of craft stamper mag. ;)

That is a really lovely card.
What is the shaving foam thing?

It was in a recent issue of craft stamper, you fill a tub with shaving foam and blob some food colouring or acrylic paint on top and then swirl it into the foam, put your card on top and lift off, it gives a marbled effect. I used acrylic paint and wasn't very impressed with most of them I am going to try it again using food colouring next time. :)

Ann - which paperartsy stamps did you get? I just treated myself to some off ebay and they arrived today - I got a words plate, ancestor and sewn art. Can't wait to play with them over the weekend. The words one I got has a little alphabet on it so am looking forward to lining up the letters on the block and making complete words - am thinking it will be easier than using my pixie stamps! Not looking forward to cutting them and the easimount out first though! :rolleyes:

I got Vintage Nudes plate 4, At Home plate 2 and Asian Plate 1, I have also ordered another plate from one of the sponsors on here but she is shipping it with a kit due to go out at the end of the month and I subscribed to Simply Stamping mag where you get 5 packs and some other bits and bobs, so waiting for those to come too. :D

Hi Wombat, I'm not a trading expert, but what I have done is to make a few atcs then post them in the February pictures thread. Then someone will pm you to trade, or you can look through the picture thread and when you see an atc you would like, pm that person and offer a trade. Exchange addresses and post the atcs to each other. I really enjoy getting someone else's work through the post.

Thanks if you dont have any gang tags you can hinge 4 or as many as you like with a strong tape I get a sort of duck tape from wilkinsons as it is cheaper by the time you cover the back you cant see it :)

At last I have posted my ATC's for this month - I hope you like them. They are a bit of a mixture really. I tried to use the Dulux colour cards on some, with acetate or embossing, and a few more pics with alcohol inks around edge.

I agree. ATCs are great for trying out those new techniques without wasting too much stash. And swapping them means you get to see loads of techniques in the flesh as it were.
