:stop: No it's not random Ann, you start from where you are on the list and send to those below you. If you're at the bottom of the list or reach it,you start from the top again.

Ann you haven't offended me at all. I was more worried I would offend you by saying No it's not random.

Because it's just a post saying No, you can't see a face or hear the tone of the voice so it can be taken in different ways.

Your more than welcome to join, you've fulfilled the swap requirement on the new trade thread.

I've not done it before either. I've run a fibre swap and a couple of CJ's, so thought as nobody else had offered to take over from Laura, I would step in to save what was great system from going under. I had just asked to join up as laura retired from running the swap.

Anyway, full instructions of how it works are in the first post of this thread, it's basically the post laura did for the old one.

I was waiting to see how many people joined up and giving chance for the original members to move over to the new list. After all it's their swap, I'm just taking over the running from Laura.

I need to get everyones contact details and pop them on spreadsheet. Also set up a sheet to keep track of who send's to who and who's not sent.

You can start making your ATC's to send now and just have them ready.

Ive only been trading for a couple of weeks but I think ive fulfilled all my trades.

Are there any other 'rules' I t hink I understand how it works, ie feb post to person No.1 and no.2 below you on list, March no.3 and no.4 etc....is that right. do you have to make 1 particular ltd card ie. 1 of 1 for each person or can you make a batch and send them as you need to......so many questions but dont want to get it wrong and fluff it up for everyone. :blink:

That's about it, but you could check on people likes n dislikes to theme a card just for them.

Not sure on the uniques or series idea, maybe an old member could say how they used to do it. Maybe if a series is ok, it should be limited to 3 max on a theme and not identical.

:stop: For everyone:-

I guess the rule is, If you wouldn't want it sent to you, don't send it to someone else.

That's how I look at the ones I've made so far, and if people haven't wanted them I just pop them in my file.

Does that sound fair??

Hi Mike I used to just make them and send them.
I never looked at likes or dislikes as I used to make a few on a subject then send to next on list.
I always thought as I was doing the artwork it was up to me but you can do it whatever way you feel best :)

Mike... re "your file" - you should upload to the trading thread every so often cos there's lots of newbies like me joining all the time who would love some of your work (I'm lucky enough to have two of your cards already) :)

LOL, I did with the last few batchs, the advent ones were re-posts as were the stamp ones. I've been lucky and had a good response to the ones I've done, though a couple of sets have gone untraded.

I just enjoy making them, so it's nice to have some of my own work to look at and show friends what I get upto in my little room. :blink:

How long till sign-ups are closed?

If we start swapping in Feb, then sign-up closes 7th of Feb. If we wait till march for a few more sign-ups then 7th March. If you sign up after the deadline, you just go onto the list next month.

Posting is then 8th to the 21st of the month

Admin (me checking whats gone where and if anyone is behind for any reason) 22nd onwards.

Once we are up and running the dates may become more flexible, it's just to help me get into a routine.

Again, comments or advice always welcome

Hi is there a junior swap as my kids are loving doing their atcs (bethanymischief and connormischief) along with their friend cbrat5z they make them every monday and are learning different techniques each time, it was marbled background this week! they are only 4, 6 and 8 years but they make sure i put their pictures on gallery every week and keep asking when they could do a swap with someone.
Please let me know or if even if anyone has any children of their own who they might like to start doing swaps with

Mike, are we putting our monthly swaps on here now, or do we still put them on the Monthly ATC Thread Tracker? Sorry, I still keep getting in a muddle with the different ATC threads. It's good to have your guide though, I'm always refering to it, but I'm sure I still get it wrong sometimes.

My undertanding of the way it worked before, going by the first post from Laura. You actually post pics of what you receive, not what you send and they go in either your own gallery or on this thread when you do your thank you. I'll create a new tracker thread and you just update the one post saying who you sent to and who you received from.

You still use the other threads for the normal trades, which Jane will create each month.

Mike, you can start your threads however you want them and I can pin them for you, I only started the last one when we were trying to organise the forum. It's not set in stone and you are welcome to change anything if it makes things easier for you to keep track

There are a few magazines with atc articles in them, if you want to read about them or look at some examples there is a sticky thread with links HERE (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=91659) . There is a lovely book by Somerset Studio called An Anthology of ATCs, it's quite pricey but definitely eye candy. I got mine second hand in the market place.

Would you like a mothers and daughters thread for swaps in the atc section? if mothers organise and make sure the kids post them put then they shouldnt need to go in the kids forum

Just putting in my 2p's worth as regards posting pictures of ATCs - we used to do it so that the person receiving the ATC on the monthly swap posted the picture, so that it was a surprise when they received it. If the person sending them had already posted a picture it wouldn't be a surprise........... having said that though, I often scanned mine and kept a picture stored on my computer, as a record for me and just in case the person I sent to wasn't able to upload a picture for some reason. :)

Well I think we have enough people to make a start this month. I don't think I'm gonna be able to get everyone a full member addy list out in time, as I don't think this site will allow me to do it via PM's. It's either down to e-mails which I only have a couple or snail mail. If you need someones addy, either PM them direct or me and I'll pass it on. Should be better organised with the list by next month.

The list closes tomorrow, and any sign-ups after then will be added to next months.

:stop: DON'T forget to post when you send and recieve so I can keep track of what's what.

Right sorry to be dim again, but can someone please clarify for me who I send to, do I send 2 cards to one person and if so is it the one after me on the list or do I send 1 card each to 2 people and if so is it the 2 after me on the list or one before and one after? I thought I had understood how this works, but now it comes to sending them, I find myself floundering again.

Just a Quick Point

Please try to avoid sending extras each month, the idea is that everyone should get 2 surprises a month and send 2. Anything over that is up to you but doesn't actually count as part of the swap, unless there are circumstances that allow no other option.

By all means, make you ATC's early if you are gonna be strapped for time, but then pop them to one side ready to just go in an envelope. I think most of us pop past a post box at least once a month.

New members get added onto the bottom of the list, so if you post too many you could end up having to send extra if you next ones are near the bottom. ie, if you send to the last 2 on the list and then to the top 2 as well in the same month, Then new members join the following month, it's actually you that sends to them. Did that Make Sense?
