I am Jen. I have been scrapping for just over two years. Mostly I have done 12 x 12 but I am now getting into a few other formats, hence giving a cj a try.

I have already bought a book and chosen a theme. Am I surposed to tell or keep it a secret ? I have done the front cover and the sign in sheet. Just need to do the first LO.

Hi I'm Jan, I've been scrapbooking for about 17 months now, started out card making bought loads of kits from QVC but never really got into it - then I discovered Scrapbooking and thats much more my thing. Ive also just got into Altered art and received a parcel of Tim Holtz goodies yesterday - Hav'nt had a chance to play yet :D

I'm Kitty (Kathryn IRL) :D I've only been scrapbooking for a couple of months, but I've been cardmaking, on and off for a few years.

I love anything remotely creative and I have tons of hobbies. For my CJ, I was thinking of having the theme of favourite creative techniques as I love learning new crafty methods and I thought it would be great to see other people's approaches to a subject.

I was wondering, what sort of sizes are people doing their journals? I was thinking of doing it in 6" x 6", but then I noticed that the pink pig journal link goes to an 8" x 8". Ooh, decisions, decisions.

I was at a crop all day today and spent most of it working on my cj. Loads of people were really interested in what it was. Mine is only 4 x 4. Makes a big chance for me as I usually do 12 x 12. Anyway I think I am ready to go on the 13th. Have done front and back cover, first 2 page lo and sign in sheet in back cover. Is that everything ? Just as well as not sure when else I will get tot do it between now and then

Reading this has reminded me that you should include any rules you have on the info page or even as a tag if you wish to remove it. Some common rules to include:

-Please don't smoke, eat or drink over my journal
-Please keep to acid free (or alternatly acid free is not essential)
-I hate orange please don't include it in my journal.
-One of the members on UKS is colourblind and includes something or other about using blue and green on the page together
-No pets near my journal

I think its a good idea to get a list together of what everyone is doing in case we need to buy anything in.

Mine is fave piece of art - eg a picture,painting sculpture etc and anything goes I guess just feel free to interpret your page around what inspires you.

If you right click on the blinky and then scroll down to properties, you should see the URL address for the blinky. Copy the address and then edit your signature to put it in. To put it in, select the image icon (I think it's a yellow box with a mountain view on) and then paste the address into the little box that comes up.

Alternatively you could just put in front of the address and behind the address. I hope that all makes sense? :D

Hi dg is dimond glaze. If you water it down it creates a glaze that protects paper but i think i over watered it.

Ive got a whole range of stamps like that one. They are beautiful in real life

Aaaaah! I haven't put glue to paper yet! I'm almost sure what I'm going to do and I've got lots of ideas, but I've had a bit of a hectic fortnight - putting the house on the market and then selling it yesterday!

Me too!! Theres the weekly challenge, the house challenge, a paperbag book for DH for valentines and I want to start on a mini album for my mum for mothers day!!

How many pages are you girls putting in your cj's, the reason I ask is that this months scrapbook magic has a paper bag cj in it (I love doing paperbag books) but I wouldn't have thought you would get enough pages in one.
they used 4 paperbags, I usually only use 3, that gives you 5 double pages, if you add a 4th bag that gives you 7 double pages, that wont be enough for all of us would it?

Girls I just need to tell you all that communication is key to a happy circle. 2 of the newbie circle journals have gone horribly wrong with people going awol and not posting on the journals they have.

Please, please, please if you have any problems with keeping up post here or pm me straight away and we'll halt the group till you catch up. We all have lives outside of UKS and after you have put in lots of hard work getting a journal made the last thing you want is for it to go missing.

Jackie-n-Cara - I'm in Warrington - better introduce myself properly, hadn't I? I'm Sarah, 33, newbie to scrapping - done 2 LO's so far at my first crop a few weeks ago at Haydock - had a blast. Really excited about doing my first CJ but also very very nervous. Have been cardmaking for 6 years - do this professionally (sell to a few shops in Cheshire) and have my own craft business www.sarahscardsltd.com - slowly building up the Scrapbooking stash.

As I mentioned before - just back from CHA in Las Vegas which was my first and an amazing experience.

Sarah the only issue i have with tieing the cj is it isn't flexible ie the journal can't grow! I would use bookrings and when it comes home you can bind with ribbon. But of course this is just my opinion :)

I've just finished the front cover of my CJ. I'm hoping to get the rest of it done tonight as I've got the evening to my self as OH is away on a boys' night out :P

I've used ribbon in place of bookrings, because the theme of my book would probably require it to be pretty expandable. I'm not sure how practical this is though. What do you think?

ooh very nice. I think the way you have tied the ribbon makes it more flexible then tieing it tight so it should be fine :)

:o ok I have messed up a bit! Sorry!!! I forgot that it was posting day on Monday and I am currently at my brothers house, 1.5hrs drive from mine and I am there until Tuesday night as we are clearing the last remaining things out of my parents house (both have died) as we have sold it. My CJ is complete just 80 miles away!!! ARGH!!! Is it ok if I post it on Wednesday?! I could try and get my neighbour to post it, but it would mean packaging it up and I don't think she would be as careful as I would :unsure:

Hi Pink

To upload a picture you need to save it on your computer, but you need to make sure that it's less than 250K otherwise it will be rejected. Then just click browse and find the image on your computer.

Personally I'd upload it to Circle journals, that way you can get feedback from people looking for CJs and it's helpful to others looking for CJs. I don't think there are any hard and fast rules, but I don't think you can upload to 2 galleries at the same time. I imagine you'd have to do it twice :unsure:

Pink - good luck with the Ofsted visit. Do they check regularly when you're a childminder?? I'm thinking of doing childminding - is there anything you need to do, courses or anything?? I used to work with disabled adults before I had DD and want to do childcare now.

Jackie this is my second inspection the first one was pre-registration to see if I was suitable and my house was suitable. The second one is done within 6 months of registering, but only once you have a child to mind as they come to see how you perform with the child(ren).
You do need to do a minimum of 2 courses, one being the Introduction to Childminding and the other being Peadiatric First Aid. Also have an Ofsted inspection (obviously), Health Checks, CRB checks and do lots and lots and lots of paperwork! eek! We're working on a 3 week posting schedule to start with. If at any point the group want to up it to 2 weeks we can discuss it, like wise over holidays etc, we can lengthen it to 4 weeks. There is a list of posting dates on the first page of the thread :)

Yay! Did my LO today - am really pleased with it now - was a bit daunted by the "no girly pink" as that's what I mainly work with & having a nephew & no nieces I am already somewhat restricted lol. Used my new BG Urban Couture papers - had palpetations getting them out of the packing but after all, "they're there to be used" lol.

Am uploading the pics into my gallery in a bit so if you don't want to see the pages before you get the journal, DON'T LOOK AT MY GALLERY!!!!! You've been warned ;)

I'm almost done, I've got most of my bits together, I've just got to print out a couple of journalling bits and then I'm sorted.

Erm, I've just got one small problem. We put our house on the market just after I joined the cj and I thought it would take months to sell and move. As it was, we got an offer within 11 days and we had an offer accepted within another 10.... and now the people we are buying from want to complete in 28 days :blink:

I'm planning ahead and buying in supplies for my next 2 or 3 LOs, but depending on timings, there may be a delay in when I can post and receive. I promise I'll try to keep it at a minimum, but I hope it doesn't cause too many problems :wub:

PLEASE PLEASE dont put any of the pictures of my cj on the gallery as i want it to be a big surprise, i didnt think we were allowed to put photos on until they were finished anyway. I will take photos of any lo i do but will save them until very end!

:lol: The original was too tall, so I've shrunk it, not sure if it will work, but here goes..... Ooh, looks like it might have worked! It's a bit small, but perfectly formed :lol:

WOW its great! Did you use mountboard!? I want to be something similar for my sister's birthday and do the first few pages with pics of her DD's (aged 6 and 4yrs) and leave the rest for her to finish off. So I may have to pinch a few of your ideas ;)

P.S. do you still have that money off code for your website of has it expired!? I still haven't bought my BG papers, to busy having arguments with solicitors, hmm I must get my priorities right SCRAPBOOKING WINS!!! :D
