I would like them to be decorated with a theme of HERBS....Decorating one side with a favourite, so that I can then put info of growing and use etc on the other side of each of your art works...thank you:D.....I can then add further cards later on....

EDITED TO ADD INSTRUCTIONS: I have punched my cards at the top in the middle so I can turn them into tags. I would like both sides decorated. My theme is friendship quotes and I would like you to use colours that are burgendies/creams (with perhaps toning colours to your theme). I am hoping to use the tags in a mini-book to make a small friendship book for a friend.

Mine are now having a theme A Little Tin Of Advice, hope that is ok.

You can use any colour, design and/or technique(?) that you want to try out, so just go for it. :lol: The idea is to have some words or a word of advice for life in general. Please leave the backs blank as I would like to add important photos and milestones to them over the years. I am going to find a suitable tin decorate it then I will give it to Ria when she is 18 or she leaves home! Please just include a piece of paper saying which card is yours so that I can write a letter to accompany the cards and let her know who has made each contribution. I've attached a pic of mine to give you an idea in advance. Thanks

reverse doesn't have to be blank, but you can leave it undecorated if you'd like.

Ok, now everyone has placed an idea of what they want!! (Which we can edit as we improve our idea's)....Now you should have the cards, you need to decorate a side, as per instructions, and post it on to that person, so you'll post 8 cards out by the end:D.....Kirsti, for the birthdays I would suggest we each let you know which month we're doing, or perhaps you could have a general birthday theme, and you put the months on the bit you put on???......what would you prefer??

Becca...as this isnt an actual ATC swap as such I don't think we need too....we COULD initial our decorated side so others don't forget who did which one???

I intend to use mine as either a birthday reminder book or as pages included with others in a mini BOM so i definitely need a blank side;)

I have received playing cards from Joy, now I need to decorate each one according to the themes we have each given (scheduled to be one card completed in time for each posting date) then ..this is where I get a bit lost...do I post one individual card to whoever it is for...or do I post all cards on to the next person so it goes round like a CJ?

ok.....think of the cards as a mini CJ page. Decorate "ONE SIDE" in some way or another....fancy papers- images-rubber stamping-inks-paint etc etc etc on the other side...cover with a plain piece of card for the recipient to write on, either as a BOM mini journal or birthday date reminder list...so something paleish, cream, beige, white.

One thing I think we need to ascertain is how each of us is going to attach the cards together. I was going to use book rings....so holes need to be punched - either one in the top left corner...or 2 evenly down the left side (I haven't decided which yet!).

Decorating will need to be done "around" any fixing holes - would hate to have to punch through a gorgeous piece of design when it gets back to me!;)

There was an article in Scrapbook Mag about a mini BOM using playing cards...remind me later (when kids gone!) and i will look for it and scan it in if anyone hasn't seen it;)

As for the posting out bit....not quite sussed that yet....I'm working on it! :lol:

Are we going to do as we did the tags? Decorate 1 in you own theme and then pass the cards on to the next person? (If so.. then fixing holes could be punched first) Or shall we work our way through the list and post 1 card to a different person (card in their theme) each month?

Good idea Michele. Sorry my love, I was meaning that you, or anyone else had made it difficult it is just that I want to get it right for people and sometimes it is so easy to misinterpret something when you aren't actually speaking to the person directly. The cards seem so small and I was just wondering how much information you would want on there. For instance - Composers - were you meaning information on the Composer, where he was born and when, when he died, well known pieces of music he composed. I suppose like those cards kids used to collect where they are just full of information.

The cards are very small Val, and I was wondering how to get information on them myself. I think I'd just do something 'arty' with mine, if that makes sense? I'll do something at the weekend and see what I can come up with. If it's too difficult, I'll change the subject. That ok??? :unsure:

I would never do that chuck. It is hard coming up with ideas on what we can do and trying out new things. I think I take it too seriously and it ends up being more like taking an exam rather than being something new to try.

You lot must have the patience of saints to put up with me and my mood swings :lol:

Just a thought... am taking part in an altered jigsaw swop - each member has a theme and we have to decorate their piece however we want to according to their theme.... would it help if I photograph what I have done so far along with each theme so you all might get some ideas? ATC are basically the same.....

Yeh....you start it off, punch holes, decorate 1st page for your theme, front if you want one, and then post it on to the person below you on the first page.....:D....the tag book we did, I didn't do the cover til I got them all back, so up to you....as far as reciepts go, I didn't do the signiture bit, and as it's standard post, I think it should be ok...

I have a problem...what I wanted to do was a useful collection of info cards for my witchy bit's, and I thought trees would be good, but as I've looked into it tonight and there is not as much as I thought there may be, at the same time that may be something that comes as I study more.....therefore I am thinking of changing my theme to herbs, as that I feel is going to be more informative at this stage of eveything....both growing and using:)....I can also add to it at a later stage...yep I like this more as I type.....I'm going to change the post:P...sorry if you'd already decided what your doing...

From what I understand the cards that Joy has sent us now become our own so we decorate the first one with our own chosen theme and punch the holes in all the cards where we are going to fix them together, then we post all of the cards on to the next person who decorates in our theme like the cj and I think the order for posting is the order that we signed into this thread. I'm sure someone will correct me if I've got it wrong but I hope this helps.

What are we lot like :lol: I thought we were using the cards that Joy sent to us, so we decorate the first persons and then post that one on, then that person decorates one and then posts two to the next person. Then again I don't think that makes sense :blink:

Whoever posts to me, will have to post to work again, as if we need to sign for it I won't be happy if I have to go to the Sorting Office on Saturday to collect it. Can we not just post them out 1st class, they are only small and it isn't like the work that went into the CJ's, or are we not allowed.

If we do have to get a signature can you put my name and personal in very big letters. Sorry to be a real nuisance but because our returns department is in our office we get sack loads of post so it can be sat there for days if they don't notice it is personal when they go through it in the morning.

Yes, fine Michele, just feel sort of quiet at the mo which is why I haven't been saying much. Plus John is using his laptop to actually do work on which is annoying me, not the fact that I can't use the laptop but the fact that we haven't been anywhere for weeks and weeks as he seems to keep getting calls and things at weekend and ends up having to work. I really, really need to have a day out. I am off a week though w/c 13th March so am hoping to be able to get out for a couple of good walks/days out.

OK ;) here's mine - front and back. Nothing fancy - cute and VERY simple. Used BG paper - inked edges - stamped with clear versamark pad and chalked over. Few stick on button letters to spell month and Bob's ur aunty!;)

I will be using mine as a monthly birthday reminder - so you just pick a month and away you go. Decorate in ANYWAY you like!!! ;)

Me as well Sharon, I literally sat there with my chin in my hands for about an hour and couldn't think of anything to do. Eventually I did it yesterday and it took me ages, I mean they are so small so what is the problem, but glad it isn't just me. If its okay with everyone I would finally like to give my cards a theme. I had also been sat for ages trying to decide what to do and how to do it then suddenly it fell into place and as I finished it I had another idea! I would like to make my cards into a keepsake for Ria and call it a 'little tin of advice' to give to her when she is 18 or leaves home (which ever comes first) I'll put more details in my first post ~ hope this is okay.

Thanks Tracey, in the end I was quite pleased with how i turned out. Funnily enough I wasn't keen on that paper but think it looked nice in just small pieces, especially with the stamped/chalked flower. It has made me want a 12 x 12 piece now to stamp/chalk.

ok, we have a slight hitch with Becca (excuse me talking about her while she's not here)...as Terri didn't send hers at all, she has my set as the first, therefore she won't have a month's grace!..a bit concerned...I take it she's ok to continue, and when she returns she'll be ok, but I think what she'll have to do is two cards, one asap and then the second one for the next post...otherwise we are all going to be out a month!!....I know it was designed that way, but will she be ok with this, the other option would be retain a card off mine and do both at same time, and eventually it'll return to the 'pack'.....I've probably confused you even more now..ok, ignore this message, and I'll sort it with Becca when she returns....

think I've solved the mystery of the disappearing atc's. a wee lady came to my door earlier with a card posted through her letterbox on Tuesday...adressed to me... 2 packages left at sorting office.

Oh :o The last one's I did were Michelle's I think - Music theme. I sent them on just before I went on holiday.
