View Full Version : Checkbook/chequebook covers

I have seen some altered chequebook covers - clear vinyl ones you can put card etc into to create a decorated cover, like this one (http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/pg.asp?cmd=display&layout_id=686012) I would love to do some of these but I am not sure if you can get any that fit British chequebooks as I am pretty sure that the American ones have their spine along the long side of the book whereas ours are along the short end and we have that little strip to slip the back cover through. (IYSWIM)
Has anyone found any that fit our books OR can anyone think of a way I can customise the American ones to fit ours into (assuming both types are about the same length)
I would love to make them with my craft club at school as we are going to have a stall at the summer fair to raise funds for the club. I know its a long way off, but we only meet once a week and then there is holidays...... :rolleyes:

ooh katie, that looks lovely.........I wouldn't mind having something like that for my cheque book, it's so dull as it is and maybe i wouldn't keep losing it if i had a lovely cover for it..........let me know how you get on :D

Ooo that's a lovely idea!
However, American chequebooks are slightly shorter than British ones, if i remember correctly :(
I'll keep my eye on the thread though, as I'd love to know how you get on! :)

Oh I have fallen in love with thise chequebook covers over a year ago when they have been all the range on the US boards and I was VERY tempted to buy a couple of them to try the altering bit myself. But unfortunately they do not fit our British cheque books. So if anyone finds similar ones that fit our books, let me know :)

Mmmm, we could do. The beauty of the vinyl ones is that your art work is protected. Will keep looking, or mount a campaign with the UK banks to change the size of our chequebooks! :lol:

My friend in the US makes these and sells them at craft fairs for $10 each! When we were over there she made £1700 in one day on these and luggage tags.
I can get some blanks but they only fit the US cheques, the do fit ours if you tear them off the counterfoil though

Very interesting Jane! Do you think I can persuade my parents at school to do this? Mind you, if I tear off the counterfoil, then my cheques won't be attached to anything, will they? (Off to check (sorry!) my book now.

Spoke to DH and he said he could probably find somewhere to make them for us, but the minimum order would be about 10,000! So if there are either 10 of us who would like to buy 1,000, or 100 of us who would like to buy 100, we could have a goer!!! :lol:

I was hoping on making 10....I think 100 is a bit too much, seeing that I hardly know anyone who uses cheques...LOLOLOLOL

OHH thats lovely i went off and had a hunt and found a site that sells them and they sell book covers too in clear vynl and this is what they say about the cheque book covers.

"We custom manufacture these in a range of sizes and formats and utilise a variety of different materials."
