View Full Version : Anyone like to start a new team?

Hello,
I would like to start a new team, I'm a newbie to scrapbooking myself (just completed my first Layout - Woohoo!). I would like a team that doesn't necessarily count points, and is more focused on Chat, Friendship and Encouragement. We could do Scrapbooking Layouts, ATC's, Circle Journals and anything else you fancy. We can leave positive comments on each others work, and generally encourage each other to do more, providing Inspiration and Help to fellow members. Just a friendly, relaxed team! :D
Anyone fancy that? If so, plse post a message about yourself below, and we can start to put a team together. I'll start us off:
"I'm Angela, I'm 23, I've just started getting into scrapbooking, I've made a couple of greeting cards, and started to make and trade ATC's - Artist Trading Cards. You can see what I've done in my members gallery, please take a peek!
I would like to start the team to make some new scrapbooking buddies, exchange help and advice, and possibly do some swaps - but not have any rules that there has to be so many per month, just that if you promise to swap with someone, you both send each other what you've promised. I also quite fancy the idea that Flo and Co posted, about an Altered Address Book from a 6x4 photo album, each person scraps/decorates a 6x4 piece of card, put their name, address and UKScrappers ID on the back, to put together an altered address book. Plse find her Altered Address Book Posting here: Altered Address Book (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=87120) "
If you like the sound of this team, and you are interested in joining, plse post below!

Hi Angela, I would like to join please!!!! I am a relative newbie, tho I actually think that I may have to lose that classification soon - done the advent swap and doing a cj, so getting the hang of all this now! I havent joined a team tho as the points business doesnt really appeal as I lack that certain commodity - time!! But, I love the spound of your team and I love the idea of an altered address book- read Flo's idea and sounds fab, and not too arduous as you an take as long as u need to do the cards!
I have been scrapping since last Feb, so almost a year and at the moment I scrap in all sorts of styles and love all sorts of embellies, espec ribbons and fibres. Bit addicted to BG too!!
Let me know if this is gonna happen - i do hope so!!

Welcome Aboard Sally!
I know exactly what you mean about the points system - and time! I wouldn't want to commit to doing something then let anyone down because I ran out if time! At least this way we can have fun and work at our own pace!
Keep watching this thread!

Oo oo. Can I join please please ? Sally I am in Hants too.
This is me. I am Jenny. I am 30, I have one dd who is 2 and a bit. I live in Southampton. I have been scrapping for about two years but I have only been on this site for a few months so I surpose you could call me a newbie. I have done a couple of swaps and just signed up for a newbie CJ (V.Scary) I am gradually putting my dd book in my gallery. There are a few bit to have a peek at if you wish. I am learnign new stuff all the time. I run a local crop night, last night was our first one and it wen't really well, so I am chuffed at the moment
I admit that I do not really know how teams work, but as usual I will dive right in and see what happens. At the moment I only really chat on the thread for the retreat I am going to so I will be homeless when that is over :(
Can't wait to get to know you all.

Welcome Jenny! Of course you can join too!
I am also learning how teams work, but once we reach 10 members, we can choose a name for our team - My suggestions are Scrapping Bunnies (as Easter is approaching), or Scrappy Snails (as we could be considered slower than other teams, as we don't set deadlines for when pieces need to be done, it's up to you if you want to do them and how long you want to take on them). Then I'll get us a new thread set up in Team Chat (don't worry I'll PM you the new link), then we'll start from there!
How's that sound?
(P.S. If you can think of any names for our team, plse feel free to suggest them!)

As for choosing a Team Name, I quite like Scrapping Snails.
Does anyone else like this? If not, plse suggest any ideas you might have that. Does anyone like the logo I've created for it below? Plse post your comments!
Hi there,
Can I join too? I really like the idea of a no pressure team as I would hate to feel I was letting people doen due to too many other commitments.
I am Linda, I have only been scrapping about 6 months and have done mainly 12x12 and thought I was adventurous doing 8x8 - till I found this site that is :P
I fancy trying other things but haven't had the courage/confidence as yet.
I am still getting round to putting things in the gallery, again due to lack of time recently.
Hope there is still a space left, but even if there isn't I really like the name 'scrapping snails' and the logo is cute - you are very talented.

Welcome Linda,
I'd be glad to have you join (especially as you've just said I'm talented  )! Wanting to join a no pressure team is exactly why I started this one - hence Snails in the title, as we don't want to rush to get pages out! We take our time :D

Hello, I'd like to join too - if that's ok.
I like the idea of no pressure. I'm not really that new to scrapbooking and I've been registered on here for quite a while now. However, I tend to buy more than I actually use. I do very little scrapbooking and have only uploaded my first LO in the gallery. I will tray and upload some other stuff though. I've also just completed my first cj, which was great to do.
So, now we've met the baby I'm probably the mother!!!!!!!!I'm 41 2nd time married with 2dds, 1stepdd and 1 stepds. Their ages are 18 & 15 and 12 &13. My 2 are the oldest. I work full time - hence not having much spare time. I'm totally hooked on buying stash. I've been to a couple of local crops - we used each other's houses - but now we've got a room sorted so it's getting bigger all the time.
Hope this info. is ok.
Love the name, btw

Hi team mates!!!
I am just 37, saying that really quietly. I am married with 2 kids DS 10 & DD 7 (going on 17). I am currently unemployed (lost my job as a scrapbookin tutor, just before xmas  ).
I have been scrappin for just over 2years starting with Dh 40th bday book. Completed my DS 10 years sept gone. I am still learning, although i read about scrappin more than i do :nono: .
I went to a crop last week at Haydock and had a great time, will be uploading the photo of the (only) LO (i am a slow scrapper - so team suits me to a tee   ) i did at it and a canvas i did a short time ago. I totally agree with Bev about buying more than i do <_< but now as no wages hey i will have to use the mountain of stash i have.
Anyway cheers speak soon
Hi to all my new team mates,
Sounds good that :)
I am Linda and am probably the oldest at a very ancient 46! 50 is getting just too close for comfort
I have three children, Mark 26, Michelle 22 and Sean 19. Both Mark and Michelle have daughters, Beth 5 and Katy 1, making me feel even older.
My three kids live in my house with Katy, and I live with my partner, Gordon, otherwise I would probably have gone mad or committed murder, or both. It's an unusual arrangement I know, but one which suits us all most of the time.
I am a primary teacher and I really enjoy my job, although it has it's bad days, like any other.
I have been scrapping since July, mainly 12x12 of my grandaughters. I have been inspired by this site to start a BOM, but only done the intro and 1 LO. I too buy way more than I use, which has resulted in a seriously damaged bank balance and a need for an extension to the house if I buy any more :)
Am looking forward to getting to know everyone better and learning some new skills, starting with uploading some of my stuff, hopefully.
Bevsie

ok here goes..... a little about me  my name is toni-leeann and i am 21 years old, i live in north yorkshire and work in a care home although i do aspire to go to university and do nursing. I started card making in 2001 and then in oct 2004 started scrapbooking, i saw it in the new at the time papercraft magazine, i decided to inquire at my local shop about scrapbooking and the girls told me they did a crop so i went along , and thats it was was hooked, i have completed 2 12x12 albums and have also got another 3 which are about a third full, i have also completed an 8x8 album , a sara book , 2 mini books and a canvas layout. So as you can tell i have been busy, my fav makes are K&co and basicgrey although my stash has many many others. I joined this site looking for inspiration and encouragement as i sometimes feel like i have no idea what to do and also sometimes look back at my work and think :nono:
well i am not really sure what else to say , think i might have babled on for to long already
if any of you want to know anything else then please ask :D

Hello team!
I am Faye aged 34, married to Stewart and have 3 kids, Ellie aged 6, Joshua aged 3 and Millie aged 10 months.
I am new to scrapping and have spent a fortune on stash and the necessary tools and yet still find more to add to my wish list
So far I have done 3 lo's, well say done, they are almost finished and I have a list as long as my arm of ideas in my head! ! Have also done a 6x6 mini kit which was easy to do, I did this for my cousin who has gone back to Australia.
I don't have much time for scrapping during the day so do most of an evening when the kids are in bed. I have a box full of photos and really like getting them printed in black and white, I have through scrapping rediscovered my joy of photography and am totally hooked!! Might even get my dh to get me a new camera for my birthday and mothers day combined (the 2 dates are very close together).
Can't wait to get to know you all :)
Faye :D

Oh and have just read the altered address book thread and it sounds like a great idea, a good way to get to know each other, perhaps we could have an about me theme with either a picture or something that sums the person up, iyswim! Maybe have the contact details on the back.

Hi everyone, hope u all had a good saturday. I have been doing some scrapping today with DD's - might even upload it if I feel brave later! I have got a gallery, but as you can see, I am still a novice, altho I am getting a lot more inventive, but not uploaded them yet!
I mentioned that I have 4 children, I have a DD -9, DD-7, DS-5 and a darling DD aged 10m (nearly) so I have my hands full. I have a wonderful DH who allows me to indulge this hobby pretty much as I want to - only occasionally raises his eyebrows! I work 3 sundays a month as a pharmacist, so that gives me my sane time! My best friend and I love our hobby and regularly scrap together, tho we even more regularly runout of idas, so I am hoping for some constructive ideas from you all ladies!!
Got to work tomorrow, so better go have a bath - back later - oh and I am up for us doing the address book thing like a cj - be good fun!!
Love

Wow, you girls have been busy! Lots of posts!! Glad your all getting introduced! I love the idea of an altered address book as a way of starting our team off, a great introduction! Do we want to do it as in the altered address book thread, each decorates a 6x4 cardstock, or as a CJ? I've never done a Circle Journal, so you'd all have to help me with that one!
Putting together an address book out of a 6x4 photo album might be easier and cheaper on postage, what does anyone think? Up to you guys! :D

I like the address book idea, as its not too much to start off with...
so how do we do it? 10 6x4 cards? so everyone on the team has one? Is that how it works? You can tell I am new to this!!!
