New altered art forum

I have started to copy threads over to our new altered art forum. I would love some help please in pointing out what you would like copying across,

We have the following options:
Move thread over completely
Move thread and leave a re-direct in this forum
Copy thread and have a copy in each forum

If you can reply here with any suggestions I will check in as much as i can and get it up and running the way we ALL want it, not just what I think

For the monthly ATC tracker, do you want a new one each month? Should I move the current one and rename it december then start a new one for January?

Pesonally, I would like to see new threads starting so that everyone is starting afresh.

It can be hard to join well establised threads - So, I would say leave the old threads with a re-direction.

I have started moving stuff, if I do anything that you don't agree with then please let me know, I don't want to bulldoze over everything and upset people. I'm just the moderator, it's YOUR forum and I am open to ALL suggestions and happy to discuss changes.

I would like to see the threads more accessable to newcomers, I found it difficult to join in before, hopefully this new forum will make things more approachable. Any suggestions please?

is there a thread specifically for people new to altered things to chat to people on ?? for instance i would like to know more about atc's and how to start etc but got totally lost in all the threads as they seemed to be for more experienced atc makers to arrange swaps on and i dont think im upto that yet ?? i could be wrong about that but i got all of a muddle !! im a bit hopeless like that :blink: :)

Everyone is welcome to chat on the monthly ATC thread - but I think it would be a great idea for Jane to set up a newbie thread too. Hopefully you will find that confidence grows very quickly with ATCs

I'm happy to semi moderate a noob thread if you like? Seeing as I'm pretty new myself (although have now learnt a lot by reading everything ever ever ever written in the whole world about ATCs!) - we can all learn together :) and I'm online 23 hours a day so can pick up questions quickly...

Perhaps we could have some beginners guides to altered art, like we do in the main scrapbooking library? You could have guides to specific items, eg ATCs, tins, etc and a FAQ section for queries like what glue/paint do I use, etc? :)

good idea - even if at first it is just links to good intros on other (non commercial) sites - like the resources in the ATC sticky....

Jane, I think having a copy in two different forums would be very confusing - would a person's replies automatically appear on both copies or will the two threads diverge as new posts are added?

I like the idea of beginners guides separated out to help people looking for a specific item, perhaps jane you'd be able to set up a list of resources like Sarah-jane did andb Laura continued when she took the reins from S-J.

I can't say that I would ever get into altered art the way I am into my scrapping, but it is great to know what to do and how to do it, even if I am not interested in reproducing it myself!

Those dominoes are lovely, Janice! I suppose you print text out on the computer, and stick them to the top of the domino?

It does need sorting - I am still a bit confused with the different ATC threads too. Can they be clearly labelled eg
Post Picture thread, postage/received thread, chat thread, tutorial thread....etc

Also need the same for Lunch boxes, accordian books, canvases, paint cans etc. There needs to be a clear thread name for them all, so newbies can find them.Maybe a tutorial forum for altered items, and they each have their own thread... A Resources thread....

hey does this mean the creations in the gallery under bits and pieces...or altered things will be moved too? It would be so nice if there where better gallery names for the altered arts. :)

Well if we make a list here of how we want it then we can ask for it to be set out that way.
I thought Altered Art main gallery with sections inside for ATCs and ???
