You need to post a thread in Inspiration and challenges or in Team chat and ask if anyone is looking for new team members. Also look at the threads in those forums as there may be one for soemone needing team mebers.
Then - every piece of work you do in a month earns you points for your team.

ok folks i'm confused. i've re-read the stickies re the house system and on both it says "email points to house leader" now, i did this and my house leader very kindly pointed out it should go to team leaders as always..
So, has this changed? am i reading the posts wrong, where should i be sending points, and if nothing has changed, could i suggest the stickies are amended just in case anyone else might misunderstand?
thanks girls!

Hi Kathryn,
As a co- house leader, my understanding is that team members email their point to the team Leader and the team leader collates them and email total Team points to the house leader.
As I said this is my understand but I may be wrong, If still unsure PM Scrapdolly.

Hi Sorry if it is ambiguous
My fault
You send points to team leaders as normal and it is the team leaders who send the points to the house leaders instead of to me
Hope that helps

I am doing the points for my team this month as our team leader is offline and I am a bit stuck.
Do altered items like paint cans earn points and if so under which category please? I have tag books, handmade books, journals etc all listed on the spreadsheet but no reference to other items and no indication of the number of points they earn.
So far I have just left them off but if they do earn points I will add them on :)
Many thanks

Hi everyone, how many points are coffee filter books worth?
scrapdolly
04-01-2006, 06:07 PM
I think you would need to count it perhaps as the same as a tag book maybe (Not seen one but it sounds fascinating)
Hi sorry to trouble you all - what do paper bag albums count as as regards to points please.
Thanks in advance x
scrapdolly
07-01-2006, 02:09 PM
I would count it as a mini book
Thanks Karen (fellow Poole person!), I thought it would fall into that category but wanted to make sure. I really appreciate you letting me know
are we still zero points for ATCs do you know Karen?
and how about the 6x4 mini LOs we are making for altered address books?
scrapdolly
07-01-2006, 03:07 PM
For layouts to count as layouts the rules say 6 x 6 I'm afraid - and no points for ATC's - just the pleasure of making them and trading them
coreysmum
07-01-2006, 03:11 PM
Do you get points for decorated Paintcans??
scrapdolly
07-01-2006, 03:17 PM
Sorry - no points for paintcans either.
I know - I'm gonna get flamed, but I accepted when I took it on that I would not please everyone!

No problems Karen :)
Is it the same for Canvases?
scrapdolly
07-01-2006, 03:28 PM
I think a canvas could be called a layout I recon.
no worries - thought it was worth asking the question - seems a bit of inconsistency though seeing as cardmaking counts, etc. But who said life was consistent?! LOL
(just a pity that all the stuff I'm doing won't contribute to my team's points...)
scrapdolly
07-01-2006, 03:42 PM
I always thought it was odd that cardmaking was on there - but now it has been on there since the team thing started it needs to remain. Looking at your sig line though you still have plenty that does count
I know - just not as much as I used to :)
Just a quick question. When recording points when does week 1 start? Is it from the first of the month or from the first Thursday when the challenge starts?
lukasmummy
11-01-2006, 03:01 AM
We have a quick question apparently sparked off by another thread. For the weekly challenges do you count the points available plus the points for a SLO/DLO?
I have always just counted the 30 for the challenge criteria.
Chrism
11-01-2006, 09:06 AM
You count the points for dlo or slo as well so in effect you would be getting 40 pts for the challenge slo or 50 for the dlo - you put the slo and dlo points in the normal columns and the points for the challenge where they go as well - hth. :)
hugs xx
Chrism
11-01-2006, 09:08 AM
Sam week one starts from the Thursday when the challenge starts and ends at midnight the following wednesday - hth :)

hi i hope you can help
i'm thinking of making a journal to do layouts of a recent rip to london and i'm getting a bit confused as to points
as my album will be made such as an altered journal and decorated up to 4 pages i'm thinking i can claim 25 pts when i've done that and then also 10 points for each single lo within it as it will be 8 x 8. could you please just tell me if this would be correct and if not how should i award my points
thank you very much
scrapdolly
24-01-2006, 03:05 PM
Sorry - I am a bit confused but if I have understood your post yes - 25 points and then any single LO's counted but each page would only count once - as either part of the journal or as a single LO
humbug
24-01-2006, 03:11 PM
sorry - just let me clarify - i'm good at confusing folk!!
i'm going to make my own journal instead of buying an 8 x 8 album. so my album will be a like a homemade cj (but not a cj) as i'm going to cover and decorate it and then fill it with it single and double layouts of our trip. so i get 25 points for making the album? and a further 10pts for each slo i do within it?
Chrism
24-01-2006, 06:27 PM
Amanda that sounds right to me am sure Karen will be along to confirm but thats what we would do - after all its a homemade album with LO's in. :)
We have a lady in the team that makes wedding and christening invites. Can she claim team points for these? Would they score the same as a card?
Thanks
scrapdolly
29-01-2006, 09:55 PM
Yes - same as cards
Karen, it's been brought to my attention that if these are made to sell, they won't count, is that right?
scrapdolly
30-01-2006, 10:21 AM
I am sorry I don't see why that would be relevant. If they have been made then they have been made.
I am sure there are others who make cards to sell - judging by the number of cards some people make. Either that or they have an awfully big family/friends circle

hi (again!)
i'm just starting to input the points into our spreadsheet
we've earned a bonus for the 50 lo for the team. do you get a further 50pts for a further 50 lo's, if so this is not being registered on the sheet
Chrism
31-01-2006, 07:54 PM
Amanda I think its just the one 50 bonus points you get seeing as the sheet does not calculate it any different - am sure that someone will correct me if I am wrong but thats the way we have been doing it since June :)
scrapdolly
31-01-2006, 07:54 PM
It should total that automatically
I wil e mail you another spreadsheet
Chrism
31-01-2006, 07:55 PM
Karen none of them total any more than one 50pt bonus for the over 50 lo's, which means that no one has ever claimed them, trusting they went over the 100 lo's to get more than one bonus, iykwim :)

I know what you mean Amanda as our team has done over 100 LO's a couple of times now and we thought we would get the 50 for each 50 LO's as thats how it is worded :( never mind :)

hi karen... i just wanted to check what you said about being able to count cards - even if they had been made to sell... i am sure when i first joined (only quite recently) it said you could only count cards made for your own use... not for sale as some people with a business might make 100's a month...
scrapdolly
01-02-2006, 06:36 PM
OK
I can clarify this and it was MY error and I will PM the person concerned and eat humble pie
This is from the original rules when it was all set up
9. Cards – You can earn 5 points for each card you make for family and friends. We do ask, however, that those who run stationery businesses don't count cards made for clients as it's not really fair on those who don't craft for a living.
So cards made for sale cannot count
My error

i came here as a two year cardmaker and believe me you give the things to everyone and anyone... i've even sent cards to people i am sending a rak....! i swear IF we had a milkman i would leave him a card saying two pints today please...!
Karen, have posted this in the other thread, but though I'd better post here just in case. Have gone to download the points sheet for the first time and I don't have excel! Aaagghh!!
Is it available in any other format? Have tried to open it in Microsoft Works Spreadsheet and it told me the file was password protected. Can anyone help me before I let out a scream :D

01-02-2006, 10:00 PM
I am almost certain the spreadsheet is only available in Excel. does any of your team-mates have it? perhaps they could keep track of the points with you? just a suggestion :)
scrapdolly
01-02-2006, 10:28 PM
Sorry it is only available in Excel as Fi rightly said
I know quite a few team leaders get other members to help
It is very simple to use once you have Excel
Chrism
01-02-2006, 10:39 PM
not sure if its of help but you can get an excel type download called flycalc - if you google it you should get the web address - don't know anything about it though as I have excel - just thought I would pass the info on :)

Re point 9 of rules regarding points for cards.( I think it was point 9 ,cant do the clever quote thingy....)..
.i make cards as a hobby and sell some through my DH at his work,in the school office and staffroom etc...I dont class it as a business as I only sell a few there ,and at Christmas I sold them at 2 school functions ,with part of my takings going to their funds...we are talking of probably less than 300 a year...
my takings ?I use them to fund my scrapbooking addiction...
So can i still claim these as points or not..cos I have been doing because I didnt class it as my business???Or must I go and sit on the naughty step till its time for bed...or 1 minute per year of my life?On second thoughts till its bed time ...LOL!!!
Sorry if I dont make sense,Im tired and off to bed now...
Thanks
Chrism
01-02-2006, 11:43 PM
 Ali - we have been doing the same - we do not have a business but again we do cards for people at work etc - probably only a couple a week etc - in fact its less now as there are less employees where I am now..... and at xmas we do one school fair and even then we don't do loads of them and have been counting the points so we may have to join you on the naughty stair and like you that is more preferable for 1 minute per year of life

hi (again!!)
my team is busy preparing samples for our weekly challenge. (it's not til april but we're keen!!)
it's the first time we've done this so i just have a couple of queries.
1. as they are doing samples now - presumably they can count the 10 points for feb
2. also during the first week in april (which is the week we have been allotted) will we be able to do our own challenge, (i don't know but some may want to do it again- as i said they're keen!! lol) to earn points then too??
thanking you in advance
Charly
02-02-2006, 01:16 PM
I may be wrong but this is how we did it when our team did the challenge a few weeks back:
You can claim the 10/20 points for the sample lo's in the month they are completed as usual
You team can do your own challenge but you can only claim the points for the lo eg 10 for SLO 20 for DLO you can not cliam the bonus 30 points for the challenge part of it as you technically have an unfair advantage over everyone else hope that makes sense
As i said that it correct as far as i know but i am sure Karen will correct me if i am wrong
humbug
02-02-2006, 01:20 PM
that does make sense and seems fair
thanks

Hi a question here!
If a team has a new member, shall we delete the old members poits on the spreadsheet too? does it matter that the yearly total then changes?
also... wondering about minibooks. had a question about tag books, tag mini books, 'normal' minibooks, accordian books etc.... where do they all fall under for points? and tag accordian books?!!
scrapdolly
02-02-2006, 06:08 PM
It needs to be a judgement call wether it falls under tag books or mini books. I would guess most would fall under tag books.
You could just overwrite the new name and not delete the previous totals. That is what I have done when I have had a team member change

hi (again)
i've spent the evening doing an entry in a cj. BUT within the cj i have made a mini book (a mini paperbag book 5 and a half inches by 3 and a half with 23 pages + the covers)
am i able to claim points for doing a mini book in addition to doing the cj entry or not?????
scrapdolly
14-02-2006, 10:02 AM
I would say that counts as a mini book as well

16-02-2006, 05:47 PM
Can I confirm soemthing about the team setting the weekly challenges
The layouts you do as samples get the normal 10 or 20 points HOWEVER if anyone in the team setting the challenge wants to do a LO during that week then they can claim the bonus points as anyone else can.
Maybe they have a slight advantage but titseems churlish for them not to get the bonus points - they have often gone to a lot of trouble to set a good challenge for everyone.
Hope that clarifies this for everyone.
bumpybecky
16-02-2006, 06:18 PM
thanks for that Karen :)
it didn't seem fair to me that the team setting the challenge lost the opportunity to gain 10x30 points if they set a challenge - might put some teams off setting them!

You need to download the spreadsheet that is stickied int he Inspiration forum (it needs Excel) and then collect points from the team for february and send them to the house leaders by the 5th March
You also need to start a new thread fro your team in Team Chat for 1st March
PM me if you get stuck

Hi Karen just had a quick question about the weekly challenge when does it need to be done by for this week because of the upgrade?
scrapdolly
28-02-2006, 09:53 PM
It doesn't make any difference to the timing with the upgrade as layouts don't HAVE to be uploaded to count
The challenge must be done before the end of Wednesday - as is always the case - to count for the bonus points
As ever it works on trust. Hope this helps
x
lukasmummy
28-02-2006, 09:55 PM
So if its done but not uploaded until thursday it will still count? Mark is at work and I cant find the lead for the scanner.
lukasmummy
28-02-2006, 10:03 PM
Cool, The layout is done just need to scan in the pictures to add.
The challenge still finishes on Wed Night for the new one to start Thurs AFAIK - there is no insistence that LOs are uploaded before points are claimed - it's all done on trust.

scrapdolly
04-03-2006, 09:55 PM
That sounds like a substantial mini book
I am a little worried this is a grey area and some people may make very small and very simple mini books
A mini book worth 50 points does need to be quite a few pages

Hi everyone i hope this is the right place to post this question
I am in a new team and was wondering can we claim points for any LO etc etc that we have done in March - even before the team was really up and running.
I know team challenges have to be complete in that same week - so that's a no no. Just wondered about other stuff!
Cheers anyway guys
Chrism
13-03-2006, 11:35 PM
Hi Jani, you can count all your work for March even those before you were a team - am sure if I am wrong someone will correct me but am sure thats what was recently advised to another new team :)
lukasmummy
13-03-2006, 11:37 PM
I cant see why you wouldn't be able to you've done it whether you had a great group of friends around you at the time shouldn't really matter

Hi there - can anyone point me in the direction of where to find the house scores/team scores for each month. I have seen it somewhere last month but now can't find it - it was our first month contributing last month so just wanted to let people know on our team how we did and what house got what points
Thanks
scrapdolly
23-03-2006, 12:55 PM
There is always a copy of each months results in both Challenges and Inspiration and int he Team Chat forum.
I sticky them for the first week or so
If you look through you should find them there - I would look in challenges and inspirations first as there are fewer pages to sift through
buzzybea
23-03-2006, 11:37 PM
Thanks Karen - found it now I obviously didn't scroll down far enough/
Hi, do we get points for a canvas? At first I thought no, but then it is a LO, just on canvas, not in a book! Can anyone clarify please?

Your first thought was right - it counts the same as a single LO

31-03-2006, 08:42 PM
If you are a member of a team you get points for every page you scrap. You can also earn extra points by doing the weekly challenges posted every Thursday.
There is a running competition for the team witht he most points.
Added to that there are house challenges. Every team belongs to one of four houses and they earn house points too.
If you are not the member of a team yet i will be starting another team for newbies on Monday

hi karen, i have a couple of questions.....
we are replacing one member for another this month....do i just mention that in the accompaning email?
because i use the work pc for the spreadsheet, i'm not sure if i can answer this question myself, so asking!!...... is the wk 5 challenge included on the spreadsheet, or is it really aprils wk 1? does that make sense?.
thanks.

01-04-2006, 05:14 PM
i was wondering that too:D :D
humbug
01-04-2006, 08:28 PM
when this happened in a previous month i was advised just to add the thirty points into another weeks points (the spreadsheet allows you to have more than thirty points) .. there are a few months that have five weeks in and so this happens a lot
the challenge issued 6th april will be classed as week one april
hope that helps
jani d
02-04-2006, 06:33 PM
Thanks for that Humbug (~~waves~~). I take it that those who have done it before April will go on last month and those like myself who do it this week goes on April.

02-04-2006, 06:43 PM
yep - when a challenge straddles a month like this time you can do it in either, so long as it's only recorded once!!!

Hi there - I have a problem with the spreadsheet, in the march column - the fifth entry down I have added my team mates points and the total should be 245 but the spreadsheet has a value of 1715 - I have checked that I have enterred the points right - can someone please help - might I have a dodgy spreadsheet (this is only the second month our team has existed so I only downloaded the spreadsheet recently)
Has any other team member found a fault?

Just asking so I don't miss letting my house know.

The new house challenge will be posted on Thursday 4th May as per e mail I sent to house leaders. They are always set on a Thursday and May is a long enough month to do it on 4th

I really enjoyed being part of a team for the cyber crop and would like to join a team here.
I know the challenges are weekly but am I commited to doing at least 4 layouts a month? Obviously I wouldn't want to let my team down if I got on one by not doing much of a quota but if I only managed say 1 or 2 of something a month is it enough? Thanks :)

Gillian if you look in inspiration and challenges and also team chat there is usually one team or anothr looking for a new member and also scrapdolly has a thread specifically to help people who are looking for a team - hth

Thanks Chris, I read through quite a few pages but was unsure as to wether the 4 challenges were generally expected to be done per month. I'd hate to join a group and not be able to do my fair share as I'm moving house very soon. I found the group in the cyber crops really motivated me but also I liked getting to know other members.

Gillian, the whole team thing is for fun and to get to know more ukscrappers on a little bit more of a personal basis - the challenges are for fun and you don't have to do them if you don't want to - its better to produce LO's you like rather than just do one because you think its your duty to do it - primarly you scrap for you not others as in our team we don't put any pressure on anyone to scrap we just like them to come and chat on a regular basis - hope you find a team honey :)

There is no requirement for anyone to do anything at all. Some people may only have a toral of 10 points - one LO - in a month - others may have dozens of layouts. It doesn't matter - the onlything matter is that you enjoy yourself
I am just posting a thread for a new team starting now.

Hiya Scrapdolly (or anyone who replies)
One of my team members needs something clarifying
Can she claim 25 points for the weekly challenge and then another 10 for a SLO? (the same LO)
Thanks in advance

Only little old me again (the pain in the bum  )
One of my team mates is askin'
Why do you only get 50 points for a paperbag book when you can claim 10 points for each 6x6 single LO you do. Are your paperbag book pages not 6x6?

sorry to bother you but we just wanted to confirm something a cj entry thats 6x6 in size is just claimed for as a cj 25 pts not 25pts + 10 for a LO?
scrappybunny

paper bag books are not necessarily 6x6 so we have a points system that tries to cover everything :D
and yep, thats right Crystal :D 25 points not 35
