Any London Crops? Infact, what is a crop?!

Hello,

I am desperate to start scrapbooking but have no idea where to start. :unsure:

I am a cardmaker but really want to start a scrapbook about every member of my family to keep at my nannas house but have no clue on what album to get, what special papers i have to use etc. I keep reading about 'crops'.... What on earth is acrop when it's at home?!

I live in central London and i have searched and searched but i can't find 1 craft shop within walking distance, which is bad considering i live 2 minutes away from Oxford Street! Does anyone know where i can find a decent craft shop (not an art shop, i want to find an old fashioned craft shop) and one that has a scrapbooking workshop for beginners would be a bonus!

the nearest craft shop to you is bladerubber near the british museum. THey are not a UKS sponser though-there are lots of sponsers on the London borders-Hertfordshire, Essex etc-have a look at the "go shopping" link at the top of the page.

Lily my lovely (who is one of hte mods on here) runs a crop in Holborn (as well as one in essex and one in Staines) which I think will be in the New Year now. Wendrie runs a crop in Muswell Hill. A crop is basically lots of scrappers making stuff in the same room-but spending more time chatting! Most are fairly casual-but yu will pick up loads of hints and tips!

Thanks for your quick reply. I have emailed Wendrie and i will hopefully be going to her crop in January.

Is there any good websites you would recommend that give a step by step guide to where to start or will all of this be covered in a crop?

Oh, just realised you mentioned a crop in Holburn. That's a heck of a lot closer than Muswell Hill!

Do you have Lilys email? I would love to start scrapbooking ASAP but don't really want to start until i know the basics. I am so bad at starting a new craft and going out and spending hundereds on stuff i'll never use!
