i know this is dead weird - i sort of know you and jaines helped me loads last week so i sort of know her and then, as above, the person i really do know as a proper real person - and i bypassed her!!! this should be great!! just need a them. Favourite recipes crossed my mind but Elllie's doing that so now i don't know. Off to have a think

humbug
19-12-2005, 01:10 PM
been thinking this morning and at the moment i think my theme will be quotes and poems. But this could be subject to change ask ellie she'll tell you. i did fancy recipes but if ellie is doing that we don't want another one, so i'll save that for another time

3 more people Joined now... one place left. *waves* to everyone who joined today :)

I have been having a think about my theme and if nobody minds I would like to do a CJ that I could give to my two boys. So as long as your LO is child related such as childrens recipes, nursery rhymes, short storys, funny poems etc anything like thats can go in mine. Would that be okay with everyone... bit of a funny theme but I really want a CJ I can use. Please let me know if anyones not hapy with this as I understand not everyone likes scrapping for children :)

Just wondered if anyone had any ideas what they want to have a go at? Some things I want to try are my TH inks. I only every dab a little round the edge of paper, and also sewing on LO. Have loads more things I want to try as well.

Hi everyone,

I'm going to make my cj between Chrisrtmas and the new year. It's usually a bit quieter then and I'm not opening my stall again til 9th January so I should have loads of time. I'm really looking forward to trying a few new ideas. I have been scrapping for a few years now but there are always new things coming out and you don't always have time to try them out. Plus I think you often get stuck in your own scrapping comfort zone. First thing I am going to try is adding sewing to my layouts!!

I am struggling with techniques to do that I dont or havent used already, but thought about 're visiting' some for this journal :D :D

FlossieD
22-12-2005, 10:47 PM
I'm thinking of ABC's of Me as my theme (but knowing me this could change a number of times before we actually send the first round out!)

How's everyong doing today?

Fiona

Janice
22-12-2005, 10:52 PM
The last CJ I did - one of them was titled "10 things you didnt know about me" - I quite fancy that as a topic. It was one that I enjoyed the most :D Might make it "six things" though :o

Nearly ready for Christmas, just got the fresh veggies/fruit/salad and dairy produce to get tomorrow then I am DONE. Just making half a dozen cards for our neighbours - am ashamed to say these are the only ones Ive made this year! Normally make about 75 but have been concentrating on making gifts this year :D

jainethepain
22-12-2005, 11:05 PM
Just finished wrapping the presents - driving over to Northants to deliver tomorrow. Made all my cards this year, usually only make for the select few.

For The CJ I would like to try distressing, aging, sewing and mybe paper weaving but that looks a bit too much like "fiddly" !

DanityDoll
22-12-2005, 11:12 PM
i'm leaving Northants tomorrow :D I'll see you all soon!!!

Fiona and Janice, I love both Ideas for themes.

Im nearly ready for chistmas now, got most of the presents wrapped today until i ran out of paper. Got all my cards made and out... although most were shop cards I did make a few. And got the stuffing ready to take on Sunday to my parents.

Janice - Have fun shopping tomorrow, I could get near our super market today.

I've chosen a favourite view for a theme - feel free to interpret that as broadly as you like. It could be your home, chocolate( ), what you see when you open the curtains in the morning, a happy child.....you get the drift....I'm looking forward to seeing the results :D

i've been busy doing mine today and i've been trying out making my own rub ons (a first) on mountboard (another first) painted with acrylic paints (another first) and then i'm going to chalk them (you guessed it!!!!) but there was a mistake on the transparency so i mucked it up. then i wiped the sheet off and it all went manky!!

so i have to wait til the shop opens and then get some more and can finish my layout.

but i've made my own book done the inside covers and almost the layout, just need to finish the outside bit!! i'm well chuffed!!

Just to update a wee bit on my theme - having had time to have a good think about it!!! It's still Breathe in Life and it's about inspiration - tell your story, (you only have to share as much as you want - please don't feel forced to share too much), any part of your life where something has inspired you and you've gotten through things. I hope that makes sense. You don't even have to share what happened at that time of your life, just say what inspired you and why, maybe it was a song, or a person or several things. I have several things that inspire me so I'll write a bit about each one :D

Janice
03-01-2006, 10:47 AM
Thats a great and interesting theme Vicki - a nice challenge :D :D

humbug
03-01-2006, 12:26 PM
well i've been very busy over the weekend - i've made my cj, done ti inside covers and the entries except for one element, but i need some transparencies so i had to wait until i get some more today!! so i just need to do the outside cover and one thing on my entry and that's me done!!! I've also just bought a couple of books on the market place, one of which is just full of techniques so i should be buzzing with more ideas when it comes - my head can't cope!!!!

FlossieD
03-01-2006, 12:29 PM
Vicki - I love your theme - it's really got me thinking, and i've got some ideas what I'm going to do with this already!

Recieved the papers this morning that i'm going to use to cover my album, just waiting for the album itself to arrive - i've ordered a couple of 8x8 paper bag books from the states (too little spare time to make them myself), that i'm going to bind together to make one big book - enough for everyone to do a double page (and some extra pages if anyone gets carried away!) and an insert page as well. My back up plan is an 8x8 SEI Preservation album if these don't turn up in time.

Anyway, enough ramblings from me (can you tell that my New Years Resolution is to post more on UKS!)- how is everyone today?

Fiona

DanityDoll
03-01-2006, 12:29 PM
my new technique for my CJ is eyelet setting now that I have my setter :D I have ordered my papers etc for mine so I'm just waiting for that to come then I'll make mine :D

DanityDoll
03-01-2006, 12:34 PM
Fiona - ooh i love paperbag books, that sounds great. I've never made my own book before - my other 3 are all sarabooks but I decided since I now have a wee hole punch thing I can do my own :) I think it's going to be 6x6 but haven't decided that for definte yet. I'm glad my theme is something that everyone likes - i wanted something a bit different. Ah well I gotta run, back to work today!!!

Janice
03-01-2006, 12:37 PM
Ive decided on my theme - "5 Things you never knew about me" - and just need to make my CJ now. I'll make it from scratch and insert enough pages for everyone to do double spreads if they want to :D

One technique Ive settled on trying out is using the Zig Scroll and Brush pens that I have! One of you will end up with a total mish mash of my writing I expect and I can only apologise in advance!!!!!!!!!! LOL

FlossieD
03-01-2006, 12:39 PM
That's another great theme idea Janice - you guys are going to know so much about me by the end of this CJ!

Note to self - must keep some secrets to myself!

well everyone sounds very busy. I need to pop into town tomorrow to pick up an album. Not deciede if Im going to make an album myself or a ready made one, will have to see what is in. I have got an air brush and hundreds of stencils so I am going to try and make my own paper for my first layout.

I love the theme Janice, will have to have a think about my LO for that one.

Fiona - paper bag books are great fun to make, I hope it works for u and looking forward to seeing it.

Vicki - Hope your going eyelet mad, my fav tool has to be my silent setter :)

Will get emails out on Thursday once DS has gone back to nursery.

CurlyWiggles
03-01-2006, 10:12 PM
Pip O think the idea was to do a different technique in every CJ, so 10 different techniques. Please Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Calligraphy sounds cool. I have decided to do my cj with the theme 'dream destination'.

03-01-2006, 10:20 PM

humbug
04-01-2006, 06:09 PM
well i'm pleased to tell you that i've finished making my journal, done the intro and the sign in pages and done my layout within it!! Also i seem to have tried something new four times without really trying  but don't worry i've still loads of ideas left over. for my layout i made my own embellishments with mountboard, i chalked them, a made my own rub-ons and covered a slide mount!!

sorry to ask a silly question and i know it weill say somewhere but the posting date - is that the date we actually post??

DanityDoll
04-01-2006, 07:53 PM
you try to post before or around the date stated - it's best to try and get it to it's destination that date or a few days after so it's not too late!!!

humbug
04-01-2006, 07:58 PM
thanks vicki, so post it on thursday 19th then really?

DanityDoll
04-01-2006, 08:02 PM
anytime between then and the 21st - then it'll get there either on the Monday or Tuesday. I always post my CJ's on a Saturday because I don't get paid unti Friday nights. You can generally go a day or 2 eitherside of the sending date, but you have to come on to the thread and say when you've posted (that's the usual rules anyway - correct me if I'm wrong).

HIya all, I'm paying money to Crafty Pastimes tomorrow so my order should come through next week :) I'll be starting my CJ then. At the moment I'm very busy working on my art journal which I'm loving. I'm off sick from work too which is a pain - I have really bad sinusitus, I get it every year around this time - however I'm going to get sudafed or something tomorrow so I can get rid of it - back to work on Monday.

Im going to try and get an email out tonight once the kiddies are in bed with what CJ to expect and when. My DH has just gone away... the start of nearly a year away from home :( So things are a bit hectic here and Im feeling a bit sad.

But for now, if you look at the list on the first page its in order. Amanda - u will recieve EllieS- Fav Reciepe, then mine - book for a child, the Janices etc Hope this makes sense.

I finished my CJ except I can't think what to call my CJ. The theme is just down as 'a book for a child', but cant think of a title to put on the front. Any ideas?

CHild's play sounds great!

I'm half way through getting my CJ sorted - i've been having great fun with this over the weekend, until I found that I didn't have enough of the paper's that I'm using - then had a major panic as I trawled through the sponsor websites trying to find Junkitz Mom papers! Eventually found some, but ended up paying almost double what i wanted to pay! Oh well - will be worth it to get the look I wanted!

Hope everyones OK today!

FlossieD
09-01-2006, 01:35 PM
Vicki - my theme is "Things my mother taught me".

Just to warn everyone - although the paper bag book i've used is 8x8 - when making your pages, they acutally have to be around 8x7 to compensate for the way i've bound it - so sorry ladies - it's custom size pages on this one! Hope nobody minds!

Janice

I am at a crop all day Saturday so if I havent managed to get it done by then, that will be my target for the day :D

DanityDoll
09-01-2006, 02:05 PM
ok that sounds good Fiona :) I haven't decided what size to do mine but as it's home-made you'll be what I do :) - I thought about doing a long one - maybe 10x4, we'll see!!!

FlossieD
09-01-2006, 02:28 PM
I like the sound of that size Vicki - a challenge in itself to do such a totally different size! I remeber a CJ I didn't with an american group of friends, and one of them used a 7 Gypsies album - it was a combination of books - it had a tag section at one end and a 5x5 at the other end - it was so unusual to work with , but really made it fun!

DanityDoll
09-01-2006, 02:31 PM
I've done all my other CJ's in either 5x7 or 6x6 so a change would be good!!! I got a CJ that's very long from Anam, it's gorgeous so it gave me the inspiration to try something a wee bit different :) I'll have a play!!!

I was just about to cook dinner earlier and my husband got called to an emergency at a big development we've just finished, so dinner got put on hold and Ive just sat and cut up the cardstock to make 48 cards! Just got to ink, stamp and stick them now :D

I need to get my skates on then! :o :o :o

My plans to make it at the weekend got disrupted as I had important work to do Saturday so couldnt go to the crop and Ive just been rushed off my feet since.

I have a ready made spiral bound album that I am going to use instead, but will probably take the spiral out and just hold it together with book rings.

I am out all day tomorrow, my friend has booked to take me to see The LIon King in London, belated for my birthday, so that will be a long day, so methinks I had better turn off UKS and get cracking!!

Fiona - ur cj if beautiful. Defently worth a look at anyone who hasnt.

Janice - dont rush with ur cj, just when ur ready. I have a few projects on going as the moment so wont get chance to complete my layout in it till next week.

DH was home for the weekend, and in the nicest way possible I was glad when he went. He house was so organised and clean, and the boys were in a fab routine and he messed it all up. lol... men. Also was wanting to watch a bit of qvc, but everytime he came in the turned over, but i did get a sneaky buy in without he hearing.

Hi Vicki

I am having a good day thank you - Ive been busy with work, getting the accounts upto date, but have still managed to keep popping on to UKS every now and then :D

I like you layout, nice and bright :D Personally I would leave the space blank, but if you really wanted something in there, how about a nice Christmas Charm or embellishment? A Tree or something like that?

You're welcome Vicki.

I had a card saying the PO tried to deliver something, but it needed a signature, so not sure if it was the cj or not, will find out tomorrow.

That's very annoying Alexa I'm not best pleased with the Post Office I was on their step first thing Saturday morning to post it. At least if its gone AWOL it's only my work which will be lost. I have the recorded delivery slip too. Better luck tomorrow I hope.

Just a quicky from me...so busy at the moment.

Thought I would share this.

I pop Janice's CJ on the computer desk out of Allys reach. DH was home for the weekend and asked what the parcel was, I told him a cj and to have a look. He just pushed it to one side and said later (which normally means I dont really care) Went for a bath last night and DH wonders up stairs with J's CJ in his hands with a look of 'wow' on his face. He holds it open to me and said 'ur getting so good at this now arent you... this is the best work ive ever seen of urs!' I had to explain what it was and whos work it was. He called Janice a very talent lady and was very excited that he will get to see 9 more of her LO's. Keep up the good work Janice. hehe
