Fabulous Izzy - I'm still trying to make a journal that I like :D

HI Izzy,
Great to have our own thread. I have got a pink pig journal ready to decorate, still trying to decide upon a title/theme. Has anyone else thought about theirs yet ??? I like the idea of doing Favourite Colours, Emma Jane suggested that, or Things that make you smile! will make my mind up over the next couple of days and get decorating dont want to be doing to much over Christmas!!
Exactly Laura! Thats why I thought we would start after the new year and people can have the choice of when they want to do it and get it ready for posting by the date! :)
I am stilll waiting for a couple of folk to send me their details (UKS ID, real name, address telephone number and email addy) - which I must hold to comply with the rules for CJs. Naturally, these will not be posted or given to anyone else ( - they are only for my records so that I can contact you if there are any problems!)
OK folks - can anyone do blinkies? If so, would you like to make one for us? if not, I wil see if I can get some other kindly soul to do one for us! :P

I was going to do things that make you smile ... but if you really want to do it laura you can . i am sure i will find some other use for the goodies I ahve bought to decorate the journal
I used to make blinkies .. i could have a go if nobody else comes forward.but it won'r be until tonight or tomorrow as I am out all day today.
what would you like ?

Hi peeps! My theme is going to be favourite smells. Better get my thinking cap on for the words of wisdom! Just out of curiosity, do we decide what we're doing for each theme and post it on the thread, so that there's no overlapping, so to speak!
joanne ward
04-12-2005, 06:57 PM
don't worry Lucy, Words Of Wisdom won't be as high brow as it sounds. its just a book to write down things you've learned during your life that you'd like to pass on to future generations.for example ...'you can only try your best!' or' Patience is a virtue'
just generally things you've had to learn...hope this helps!

Hi All,
Jane i had not definately decided to do 'things that make you smile' so you can, i just tried to think of a theme that i could do a page on!!!
Izzy can you put me down for 'Favourite colour please'. I think eberyone has a favourite dont they?? it does not matter if someone else has chosen your colour either as you may have a different reason for it being your favourite. Hope that makes sense!!!
Hi Tenderfooters!!!
Hope everyone is well and had a great weekend - I went to a crop on Saturday and looked at some other people's CJ's - gave me some great ideas!!
I think my theme is going to be 'music'
Music is a big part of my life and I look forward to seeing everyone els'e thoughts!
Take care everyone, enjoy your day!

ok then my theme is " things that make you smile".... and it would be great if those of us with children could avoid using them as your "thing"
and I've just relaized that the finishing date for this is my birthday so that will be a great birthday present:D

Hi everyone, its great that we have our own thread it makes it all official. WE ARE UP AND RUNNING......................... I am still struggling to come up with a theme. I need a little more time. Love the themes that have already been chosen. Can a cj be made out of anything and just remind me of the size?
Have a great day, chat later.
Hi Nicki - there is no hurry to choose as we have plenty of time! If you pop back to my first post on this thread, there is a link there called "a guide to cjs" - if you clidk on it, it will take you to a couple of interesting articles by Maryanne which will answer all your questions and also gives a list of suggested topics! :) It is worth a browse just to consider them!
Glad to see more of you over here! Does anyone know Claire8074? She doesnt have enough posts to get any pms and she hasnt been on the Calling newbies thread for a while!
Unfortunately, Kapcrafts is having problems with pc/internet access and has decided to drop out of our group! Perhpas she wil be able to join another in the future! I will let Caz know that we are looking for another body to join us and I hope we hear from Claire soon that everything is ok!
if any of you change your mind about your themes, just let me know and I wil change the first post!

Morning all,
I have made a start on my journal, i have replaced the spiral ring bind with book rings to make it a bit easier to decorate the pages. Are we doing a double lo? i am assuming we are, my journal is only a little 6x6.
How are the rest of you getting on?? Still thinking about themes. I think i am happy with mine, until i see another theme and think oh i like that idea!! Maybe i will save them for next time.
Take Care
Hi everyone {{{{{{{{big waves}}}}}}}}}
I think I am going to make my journal.... I am really going for it big style! brave or foolish?? which one???? lol
I cant wait to get started on it... at the moment I am finishing a snowy paper bag book off them am going to get started on my CJ!!!
Oh oh nearly forgot.... I am a finalist in the November photo competition.... check it out
http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=85625
Take care everyone,
Deb
x
Debs- you go for it!! This is all about having fun and trying things out! If you want you could make a paper bag for your journal too?
Izzy, I have been to a couple of crops recently and picked up some great ideas and tips. The paper bag i have done is great but really thick and its only 3 bags in total so I think I m going to stick with a more 'traditional' style journal - Am hoping that i can make it so it has 3 or 4 rings in the side so i can hang lots of fancy fibres off it!!!
No problem! Was just throwing in another idea for you!
Please remember that you can upload the covers, intro pages and sign in pages but after that,( to keep everything secret so that the owner gets more pleasure when it arrives home), please dont upload any piccies! In fact, try to be discreet about what you are doing and give only clues! :P
Just now tho, anything goes - the secret service mode only begins to operate once we begin the posting! It does make it even more fun!
As I said before, I am waiting on one coming home in mid January and I am really looking forward to seeing it! :D
i have read lots of comments about it by the other members of my group and my imagination is running riot!! :)
Mark you, I too, have made some "loaded" comments about other journals that everyone but the owner understands at the moment!! :P
I personally can't wait... sounds real fun!
Hi Folks
have heard from jamie Girl and she would like to take Kapcrafts place in our cj! I hope to see her on this thread soon and she can introduce herself and join in the fun! :)
Remember, any problems or questions, just ask!

07-12-2005, 02:11 PM
can i change my theme ... i was thinking about what I want to put in it and relaized a better title would be " Lifes Little Blessings"
I'm off to get started now
Course you can - it is changed!! Nothing is set in stone until you decide that is what you want to do! It is dead easy to change on the post - that is why we keep the first post for all the info, changes etc and you dont have to trawl thro umpteen posts to find out any changes!! :P
Would you still prefer it not to refer to children? If so, it might be a good idea to include that in your introduction page. this is where you express your preferences.

Aah, lunchtime.
My theme is Exploring. "???" I hear you cry. Well, I'd like it to be about exploring in a very wide sense, so whatever you make of it basically, from actual explorers like Scott of the Antarctic to toddlers exploring the world, via maps, charts, journeys and travelling. And anything else anyone can think of. I even thought of the Famous Five - they were always going off on their bikes weren't they. Lashings of ginger beer, anyone?

Hi girls, ive come up with my theme " I FEEL GOOD " ( not children centered) , their must be other things in our lives that make us feel good. Nows the time to reflect on us for a change. I hope everyones happy with my choice. Im off to look at my stash for ideas.
Joanne, you can toss about ideas but once you see the first dlo in the cj, it all seems to make more sense! :) Sometimes they sound harder than they actually are, but on the other hand, if you are down the chain, someone else may have thought of your idea first! Thast when you really have to start thinking!! Sometimes, when looking at the other pages, one can set off an idea that you hadnt thought of!
i know that, just like my SB, I often start out with an idea and it takes on a life of its own and ends up being completely different!! But then that is why we are addicted, isnt it? :)

"20 things to do before...." you can fill in a special age / date whatever and its dreams or ambitions or things you've always wanted to try
:D
??? what does everyone think ??

OOhh some really exciting themes, i think mine sounds a little dull now!! Jane 130, great idea, are we limited to one thing, sorry im sure you will explain more in you r intro but i am trying to have a think of what i would do for all these themes!!
Exploring is a good one too, i loved the famous five when i was little!!
My journal is all ready to decorate, just deciding how to do the covers.

Help please everyone! I'm going to buy a journal, but does size matter - in this case, lol. I mean, should it be of a size which takes ready-sized papers, or doesn't that matter? Also, when covering a journal, how would you attach papers?
Thanks for help. I'm really enjoying thinking about all the themes. It's good to have something interesting to think about in queues etc!
anne, if you read my guide to cjs on the first post, Mary anne gives some advice about cj in her third post!
Remember it will get heavier and dearer to post as it goes round! They are normally paper bag books, or smaller journals - the largest i have worked on was about 7 by 7 but most of them are about 6 x 6 or 7 x 5! have fun!
Hi everyone - just checking in and saying hello to all the faces I have not said hi to before!!!!

 hi everyone, if you don't hear from me for a while i'm having a few computer difficulties.but don't worry i'm still ok and rearing to go on our CJ, i've had a word with izzy and if she doesn't see me round for a while when it's time to start she''ll contact me with the details. just loving all the themes everyone!!! they're really getting the brain matter working overtime!
Thank you Joanne for stating your possible problem so early - give yourself a pat on the back for good communication!! I think this is going to be a terrific group cos you have alll been so easy to work with so far! :P
I find that when people are told what is happening - or may be happening, they are usually quite happy to go with the flow and give the others some leeway! The problems really begin when we dont know what is happening and then we all start to worry about things!
Keep our communications open I say!!
Hi..... people say i am good at communicating.... think its because i can talk the legs of a donkey!!!! ha ha
Personally I take it as a compliment.... ha ha ha
Izzy, are we any closer to getting a blinkie?
Not yet, cos no one came back and said they would try and do one! Are you offering or just inquiring? :P
I am afraid I cant do them but I know a couple of folk who can and probably one of them would make us something but I wanted to let the group have a chance firts! Didnt want to step on any toes! :P

 Hello my fellow CJ ers
Ive just pm'd Izzy and she suggested asking the team for options.
I may have a problem next year with one of the posting dates 15may this is cause I am actually getting married in Cyprus on 09may  and will be away from 03-22may meaning I will miss the post......Izzy has suggested the following
1 I am late posting therefore holding up the person b4 and after me
or
2 I miss this post and do it at the end however this means that one persons journal will be late arriving home
Does anyone else have any suggestions as i really dont know  ...out of lizzy's suggestions I prefere the 2nd as will give me more time and i wont need to rush and spoil what will be a wonderful journal :)
lauralaura
13-12-2005, 12:09 AM
Jaime, i understand what you will need all your time to concentrate on your wedding, i got married in June this year, so if it meant my journal would be late back so be it, just enjoy your wedding, and then have time for the journal after. XX
teekay
13-12-2005, 04:05 AM
I'd like to confirm my theme as "By the Sea". Just realised that I'd mentioned it at the start but hadn't confirmed !
I'm putting together a 6x6 book - how many pages should there be minimum for a group this size ? I'd rather add extra than have anyone run short.
joanne ward
13-12-2005, 11:36 AM
Jaime , i personally wouldn't mind my journal being a little late...you just enjoy the run-up to your wedding, the big day and definately the honeymoon after.
Hi
I dont mind things being a little late - I am personally on holiday from the 24th April for two weeks, so without checking on dates, I too may be in the same position.
I think everyone understands that things happen... as long as we communicate i dont think anyone will have a problem with it.

13-12-2005, 12:52 PM
Hi everyone, yes I'm happy too to go with the flow and get something late ... scrapping on honeymoon would be a step too far. (This is when I hear different from somebody ...)
Great themes. Think I'll have to get a journal for the journal, lol, so I can note down my "brilliant" ideas instead of feeling smug and then forgetting them.
I'm off work today, but I'm off sick, so no fun there! Haven't even felt like putting on the tv. Just a bug, nothing serious at all, but there's not even anybody at home to moan to. DD is upstairs working on her art and design stuff for college. BTW, am currently finishing a skatepark layout, couldn't find a graffiti style font I liked, and Holly (DD) drew a brilliant one for me freehand. Thanks, Hol!

13-12-2005, 03:52 PM
Wow, that's gorgeous! What a clever friend. And at last I have something to belong to ... sob!
Teekay - you will need a double page for each person taking part, plus a page for your intro telling us about it and a page for any rules you want to make. Then you have to decide if you want sign in pages or people to sign the bottom of their layout! Some people like you to sign as you do it, others prefer to have tags or file folders or something on separate pages! It is your cj, so do whatever you prefer! :)
Glad you all realise that things wil happen to hold up your cj as it goes round! We all have families who can have problems, children cna become ill,d work situations can be stressful and time consuming! In my first one, the person sending on to me was leaving for 3 weeks in the states 2 days before our first posting!! What happened was that she pm's me and then sent me her own one early. When she came back , it took her a couple of days to recover from jet lag, receive the new cj which she had asked to be sent for her coming home, and then she completed it and sent it to me. Cos I knew what was happening and we had discussed it all by pm, I was able to get it done in a couple of days and got us back on track by managing to send in time for the next posting! Again, all about communicating!
Sorry girls, I know that I keep hammering this, but I have been on the t'other side of wondering what on earth was going on!! Will step off my soap box now! :P
This is our cj and we can create the rules and/or alter them as we go along! :P The main thing is to have fun and enjoy ourselves!!
I hope you all remember to upload your cover, sign in page etc etc before you post it on its way! This is the only time we all get to see what is hapening and what we are doing! :)
Will be sending out the addresses soon but will tell you when I do it!

OOh our own blinkie thingy!!! Thanks to your friend Izzy. Its great now we have all decided on our themes, now i just need to get my thinking cap on!!!
How is everyone else getting on with the others themes???
Debs - went into your gallery to see if you had uploaded your paper bag book and saw your pages on Egypt - when were you there? We went in Nov last year - sailed up the Nile for a week and then stayed in Luxor for a week! one of the best holidays I have ever had!! :P

hi everyone, the blinkie is so cool. ive not had time to upload it yet. Ive had my thinking cap on thinking of ideas for our themes, its so exciting i seem to be thinking about our cj more and more, every where i go i see things that i could use or buy it seems that ive forgotten about xmas. Good job im already.
Have a good day everyone.
Izzy... I didn't get time last night to scan it in, am at work today and out this evening so it will probably be tomorrow now!
I was in Eqypt October 2004 - we have another trip there in April next year (not long now) - in 2004 we sailed up the Nile from Luxor to Aswan on the Ra II for a week and then stayed at Le Meridian Hotel in Luxor for the week - it was simply the most amazing trip I have even been on in my life. Unless you have been to Egypt, I dont think you can understand how truely amazing it really is.
On our next trip there are 12 of us going and this time I am planning to go up in a hot air balloon....there are rides that start around 4am and fly over the valley of the kings - will be amazing to see the sunrise over the tombs.... x

I go away for a few days, come back and I feel like I've been away for an eternity. Before you all ask, I haven't been anywhere, I've just not been on-line as my mum has been over organising a christmas tree for my dd (17mths). This involved me running errands as she doesn't drive, anyhow I can now 'rest' as she's gone back home until next week!!
Wow, love the blinkie.
I'm ok with what people want to do about dates etc. At the end of the day, it doesn't create a major problem and as long as the cj's get finished that's the important thing. Oh except for the getting married bit, that's important too! It's my wedding anniversary on the 11th May, so you've chosen a good month to get married in. I hope you have fabbie weather, we did, although when I got up at 5am (couldn't sleep) it was chucking it down and I kept thinking what a miserable day it was, but as the day got on it got better and when we were saying our vows, sun came streaming in through a stained glass window right upon us! Sorry rambling now, must stop:lol:

Go up to Izzy's entry telling us about the blinkie (post no. 76 I think) then copy the details, go to your own section of User CP and paste it into your signature section. Don't worry - you can preview to see what it looks like and move it if you want. S'easy, no probs etc etc.
Blinkie code is in the very first post at the beginning of this thread - means you dont have to rake for it!!
Just follow the instructions above but remember to remove the asterisk after you have pasted the code into your signature! :P

Hi everyone. Bought an A5 spiral bound sketchbook today for my journal. Paper seems sturdy enough. It's pretty boring to look at though. I've got plenty of ideas to decorate it but not sure if I am brave enough to take out the spiral thingy - am imagining the pages all springing apart, lol. What I would really like to do is de-spiral it, remove quite a lot of the pages, trim and re-punch the remaining ones and then put in book rings. Oh what the heck, I should just have a try - it only cost £2.99 and if nothing else I'd be left with a stack of paper. Here goes nothing ...
Anne.... where did you get it from????

As for my CJ I've got it ...just a 6X6 book with chipboard cover and back, held with bookrings...still to decorate it tho( may wait
till the really quiet time for us...that few days between xmas and new year...give me something to look forward to doing)

Sorry Debs, only just read this. It's from W.H. Smith, the drawing and painting supplies section.
Thanks Anne
I got my journal yesterday from The Works - it was a bargain. Only £2.99 and its an artists pad with nice thick paper and sturdy front and back which I am going to decorate tomorrow at the Birmingham Crop.

Will be changing that, even though DH says it's fine. He's made a few suggestions (some helpful, some not!), and said, quite pleased with himself, "I'm getting pretty good at this scrapbooking lark!" He always thinks his ideas are better than mine tho. (He is so wrong). Can anyone tell me, do we do a layout in our own journals before we send them off, or just the covers etc?

But...
hopefully we can have a relaxing day on saturday and spend the whole day chillng out....x

Probably, but have you got a glass worktop saver? These are just as good. An old mirror would do the trick too.
An update on my cj - it's not started! I've promised myself some time over christmas when dh or dgp's will look after dd, so that I can have quality time. Ideas are brimming though.
Everyone have a lovely christmas, I hope santa brings all that you wish for and lots more!
yep lucy probably a tile would work as well!
You need to cut out all the little bits first ( the space in the letters e, a and o for example) and you move the tile/glass round as you work and not your blade!
it takes a bit of practice but it is worth it in the end!!
Hope santa is good to all of you and that you manage to fit in some scrapping over the festive season!!

Yay, I've got my cj ready, all set to send off on the 9th January! It's not perfect by any means but I'm pretty pleased with it and I've had fun doing it (instead of all sorts of other things I should have been doing, lol). How are you all doing (cj-wise and in general?)
Well done! A usefull tip I was given was to take piccies of your pages! This is useful for yourself and is even better if (heaven forbid!) a cj goes missing in the post! :nono: At least that way, you can reproduce it if necessary without too much trouble!!
I looked in your gallery but you havent uploaded it yet! I would like to see it and am sure the rest would too! :P
I am in dilema as to how to do my first LO..... oohhhh .... hopefully it will all come together at the weekend.
Thanks for the tip about taking photos.
Izzy, remind me again, what do we upload in here?? the front of our own CJ?
You can upload whatever you want from your own cj - eg your layout, your cover, signing in page, introduction/instructions etc. It is really up to you what you upload and whether you do so or not! :P
sometimes it is encouraging for the other people in the cj - especially when it is your first one - just to get an idea fo what is coming! :)
the only thing that is expected is that you dont upload anything from any of the other cj's you do! Cos that makes it more of a surprise for the owner when it comes home!!
No problem Debs! I was given this advice for my first cj and at one stage, one of the cj's got "lost" for a month! ;) We were all getting ready to do duplicate pages when the PO finally delivered it! :) I was surprised by how much I had forgotten about my entry in that short time! So far, touch wood, I havent needed to use the piccies but I still like having them! One of my friends duplicates her pages and keeps a copy for herself but that sounds like hard work to me!!!
I agree... I think either scanning or photographing sounds much easier.
I am at work this morning but hopefully late afternoon I will start on my CJ. I know this sounds really silly but I am so excited.

Ok, ladies, is anyone else ready to upload anything yet?? You must forgive me for being eager to see them all, but it just seems strange to know that I wont be seeing them as they come round to me! This is the first time I have hosted a cj cos when I have beenin the others I was not the host but a member of the cj! That meant that I got to see some of the work in every one and for the ones I got near the end, I get to see an almost completed one! :P

Thank you so much for the kind comments. I am really looking forward to seeing everybody else's - the themes are so different that the ideas will be really different too. Jane, have you used the pixresizer which you can download from the library? I have been resizing mine to 600 x 600 and ticking the "maintain aspect ratio" box which then usually automatically resizes to 600 x 450. This works okay when uploading. My problem is with layouts. I scan them in 2 halves then stitch together with Arcsoft, but I keep getting a yellow stripe on each side of the finished layout. Wah!

I've got the covers, intro and signing in page done...just my LO to do now...Laura, I don't know wether it's right but I've put little mini envelopes for everyone to sign in, add foto, e-mail if wanted etc. but i think you can put tags or just leave blank for everyone to sign...I'm only guessing as this is my first...hope this helps,
fifecat
05-01-2006, 12:15 PM
Joanne, you must have been working fast. Love the sound of the little envelopes. Laura, I don't know if it's the usual thing, but I did decorate my back cover, and I think you would do a double-page layout unless the owner of the circle journal asked for something different, and I would just start it on the back of the previous person's page. Getting excited about the send-off date now!
Yep thats right - you start on the back of the previous persons page!! I normally cut paper/card to size and work on them. Then , if i make a mistake, I havent spoiled anything! This also means that you can use eyelets etc etc and then I just use DST to attach to the cj.
As for signing in, I have seen tags used, mini envelopes, file folders and all sorts of interesting shapes to go with the cj itself! I have had to decorate little doll shapes to show a hobby and I have also done one where we are asked to sign and date the bottom of the pages that we were doing! So as it is YOUR cj, you can do whatever you prefer!!
Yo all sound very organised. This is the really esciting bit isnt it - getting yur first one???
Can you all try to post on or before the agreed date please? It is also a good idea to post here that you have sent a cj so that the recipient knows to look out for it! Obviously if there is a problem in sending on the right date, it makes life easier for everyone if you tell the person waiting that there has been a hold up and keep them up to date! We all have other lives that can interefere with our craft but if we know in advance, then most people are ok and very supporting about it. One of my friends is trying to track down a cj atm cos the person who SHOULD have it is not answereing pm's and has been offline for a while. Naturally, if there is a problem, no one wants to increase hassle but if that person had just said there was a problem....... !!
Remember to put your piccies in your gallery!! :)
Its getting close now!!!

Woo- hoo!!! I've finished!I'm quite pleased with it, very pleased with cover and my LO. made a itsy bitsy mistake on the back as the paper is upside down...i'd been so careful too( obviously not careful enough!). you can only tell, as behind the main pattern is fancy writing, its quite small and my daughter says you don't notice it at all( she may be trying to make me feel better tho as i was annoyed at myself for getting it wrong). It's not my normal style as i usually do really modern, retro, bright things but I thought this needed a bit more of a timeless approach.
will upload a foto when the light here gets better for taking fotos( dont want flash and its really dull here in Wigan!)
OOhhh I am so excited.... I am going to post mine tomorrow so lookout for it Joanne!!!!

Hi guys, ive been trying to upload my cj i have copied it and pasted it into the gallery section then right description then submit and nothing happens it says no images in the file. i have made sure the photos are the correct size help needed please anyone !!!!!!!!!!
Nicky,
The way i do it is that I save the picture on my pc (my docs etc.) then I go to gallery, upload picture and follow the instructions... is that what you have done?

Joanne, love it. The colours are so rich looking (ps your handwriting is a bit like mine - I have to comment because I never seem to see letters formed the same way as I learned at school nowadays!). Looking forward to the cj coming my way - containing lots more words of wisdom.
Nicky I've just been to the gallery to see yours and it's beautiful. Again it's the colours which catch my eye first. Gorgeous colours just make you want to open a journal and dive right in!

Sorry Debs, looks like we were all asleep!
Becky, your "20 things to do" cj has arrived safely and it's absolutely amazing. It's so professional - it wouldn't look out of place on the shelves of a shop. Of course it's better than a shop one because it's completely original. Please tell us how you did it all. The green paper is BG, right? But exactly how did you do the letters and numbers and complete instructions for inked edges please! Also like the way you used different fonts inside. I'm very nervous now about doing my lo - don't worry tho, I will, because that would defeat the object, lol. Really looking forward to seeing all the others now as well.

Thank you
glad it arrived safely. Yes the paper is BG - Sublime "raspberry blue" the letters on the cover are rub-ons (my latest addiction and ooooh what an addiction lol) and then the numbers are hand cut from the BG paper ..i printed "20" in "stencil" font reversed on photoshop stuck to back of the BG paper and cut it out. i found the inking the edges easiest with one of the little 1" square ink pads that has a sponge pad as my other pad (which is more foam / rubber like) put too much ink on very clumsily and then you literally just run the ink pad along the edges of the paper at an angle (kinda 45 degrees to the paper at a guess???) ..then repeat until it looked how i wanted (v messy fingers lol) it was rather trial and error as its not something ive done much before  hope that helps :) it was a definate experiment in style for me so please dont worry about doing your lo just have fun with it :)
I cant wait till my first one arrives all excited
Your journal looks gorgeous Becky... puts mine to shame

You know I said I was in for a major miracle, well did I say anything about a major catastrophe? No thought not. I am having a really weird power cut. My tv works, as does my pc and broadband connection but my landline telephone, my lights and anything else electrical isn't working on full power. My lights are flickering seductively and so are the digital clocks on the cooker and microwave. I've telephoned Yorkshire Electricity on my mobile (which incidently is now not working either) and a very long message eventually told me that they were 'experiencing problems' in my area and that they would update the message when they had more news. Right this freephone no. that isn't free on a mobile took several minutes to finally tell me that it couldn't tell me what's wrong and now they're asking me to repeat the process again and they still might not have any news! Problem is it's such a dull day, I can't see well enough to scrap and my cj is looking very sorry for itself waiting to be nurtured into life. I can see myself working into the wee small hours to do it for tomorrow, that's if we actually get a normal service back today. BTW I'm not lining up an excuse for tomorrow's posting, just thought I'd tread the boards seeing as I can't scrap:) I wouldn't mind so much but DH is IC DD today so that I can have some 'me time', typical

oh cripes... all hell is breking loose in this house right now ...ds is refusing to eat so dh is getting angry ( ds is 2 next weekend so its not like he really understands) and taking it out on dd(14) accusing her of being lazy becuase he hasn't sene the fact that today while I have been busy cleaning she has washed and dressed ds, made us all lunch , unpacked the shopping bags for me and tidied her bedroom .
If dh carries on like this i can see me scrapping a relationship breakdown soon !!!!

I'm back!! After 3 hours with no electricity at all, it came back on. Thankfully we have a wood burning stove and a gas hob, this kept us warm and supplied with hot food and drinks.
Having major confidence crisis now I've completed cj . DH says it's ok but he's not very artistic, in fact he's the complete opposite, has a degree in engineering. Although earlier on I asked him if he thought something was straight and he said it's meant to be art not precison engineering . Don't know if I've got the confidence to upload this, something doesn't feel right with it, but I don't know what.
Lucy... the best thing about scrapping is that its unique.... please upload your CJ we would all love to see it wouldn't we girlies?!

Hi Teekay, am posting my cj to you this afternoon, so it might arrive tomorrow but more likely Wednesday. It feels strange seeing it set off on its journey! Now I can start on my layout for Becky's cj.
BTW, Becky, thanks for the tips on inking. I tried inking some paper for an altered clipboard yesterday and it really looks effective. Used slightly too much on one side but I'm calling that the hand-made look, lol.
Hi everyone... posted my album to Joanne today... sent by recorded delivery guarenteed tomorrow before 1pm.

Thanks for your comment in my gallery Anne, i wasnt too sure if it would be too much, ribbons etc !! I love ribbon.
I have been looking in all your galleries and am a bit worried. For my sign in page i thought we could all put a little tag in, but i have not provided the tags, like some of you have. I was hoping you lovely ladies would not mind providing a tag, i made a tag in my favourite colour to carry on the theme. DOes that make any sense or am i rambling on as usual!!!!!
Laura, I love making tags and will happily make one for your journal for my signature.... x

Ok after my lack of confidence attack, I've altered my cj cover to something that I'm actually pleased with. However, in doing this, I haven't made today's post :nono: . There are no excuses for this other than I left things too late when I started this. I have learnt my lesson for the next time, start straight away, even if it means changing it several times! I will post it tomorrow Nicky, so you should have it on Wednesday. I'm really sorry to let you down, it's not something I make a habit of. I have uploaded the front cover for you guys to look at, hope you like it:)
