Hi Katrina, looking forward to seeing you too (and trying your Austrian Gluhwein). I've amended the food list. Didn't want everyone to think it was just common old mulled wine, but the proper stuff   I bet it's lush.

I'm starting to feel Christmassy now :) Have been into town today to get a few bits and pieces and Louise has her Christmas piano concert on Saturday. It is candlelit. After the concert we have mulled wine and mince pies.

Has anyone else started to prepare for Christmas yet?

My old car is no more:( It would cost more to repair than its worth. We had to go and buy a new car(well not new but new to us) as we need one. Its only just over 2 weeks since we paid to have a new exchaust and the brakes done. Just what we need before xmas and to top it all i've had to come early from work with a really bad stomach.

Sorry to hear that Carroll :( That's really bad luck before Christmas.

I hope you feel better soon. You're best off tucked up at home 'cos it's not nice out today.

Good Luck Boo, rather you than me !!!! We're off to our friends for the weekend, don't think it will be a relaxing one though as they have 3 children between 3 and 12 !! But it will be good to see them as we haven't met up since March. Naomi is a friend from College and my other friend Helen lives just down the road in Chedder so we will see her too on Sunday. So as you can imagin lots to catch up on.

Hope you're all having a great weekend? :)

Christmas has arrived at our house in that DH has been up to the loft and brought down the 'boxes'. As I type DH and the kids are putting the tree together :D And "Frosty The Snowman" is playing  Ahhhhhhhhhhh LOL

Boo, hope you've recovered from your shopping trip and Katrina you had a lovely weekend with your DH and friends.

Bye for now.

Hi everyone

Michelle - I'll happily bring some food along. What would you like me to bring? I could bring some nice crisps e.g. Kettle. Would that be OK?

I don't know if I could cook something as Lily has just learnt to climb the furniture, so I got a lot less done in a day now

I'm getting quite excited about Christmas now, but I'm even more excited about this Wednesday. We're off to see A-ha at Wembley :D

Am trying to get into Xmas spirit too but hubby keeps hiding it from me  Ok, very feeble old joke I know but worth a shot - oops, doing it again somebody stop me!

No but really, I did put up the our teeny retro xmas tree with pastel coloured balls last night and advent calender went up yesterday too - 4 days late!

But we are off, en famille, to Westonbirt for the REAL tree this Sunday preceded by a nice sunday lunch at a pub nearby - looking forward to it and the chance of getting some nice photos :D

Cheers, Mandy

I'm feeling Christmasy too, we went to Sam's, our friends middle Son and our God Son, school Christmas fair on Saturday and in the church next door they had a festival of trees. There were 15 christmas trees all decorated with a different theme depending on who did them,eg the Youth Club did a friendship tree, the cricket club a cricket tree. One group did one made from wood as the stem and then CDs to make the platforms for the branched called it a ceedee tree. You had then to vote for your fav which for me was a tree done by the mother and toddler group, a nice traditional tree with hand made decorations like gingerbread men and popcorn strings, they even had the good old standby for toddlers, dried pasta threaded on string !! But it looked beautifull.

I did have a major problem at the weekend though, my voice has dissapeared !! Still hasn't come back so Andrew is very happy !! :D

We went to Westonbirt year before last for the light show. It was a cold and wet night but well worth the trip. The trees looked fantastic all lit up, quite magical.
Still no xmas shopping done!!!! I'm really looking forward to xmas shopping with my mum, it should be great fun.

Hope your voice returns soon Katrina!

The office tree was put up today, but the peeps who put it up had a few problems. They could'nt find it's legs or stand for ages. You who know me understand my rather dark/warped sense of humour. I thought it rather appropriate as the office I work in deals with adults with learning disabilities. So, being totally P.C. ;) I called it a "Mobility Challenged Tree". At least people got the joke

Christmas is a coming!

Well we didn't make it to the A-ha concert :( Lily has had her first cold and if we went it would have meant driving to London to stay with Chris's relatives which would have been at bit much for her. Oh well!

On the plus side it does mean we are at home this weekend and we can put up our Christmas tree. I think Lily is going to love tinsel

Such a shame you missed the concert Emy but I hope Lily is feeling better soon. Her first cold? Aww poor wee mite.

I haven't got a Christmas Tree yet. I wasn't going to bother last year but Ami and Matt went and bought us a tiny one because they said it just wasn't right not having one.

Vikki left home last May (when I was at Bonanza ... not sure of the significance there) so this will be our first year without either of the girls at home. :o But, of course, next year will be very different. :D

Looking forward to next week ... I shall think about what to bring grub-wise Michelle and will hunt for a peculiar hat. Or will an ordinary hat on a peculiar person be as good?

Boodles, come as you like. It'll be great to see you. I haven't made a hat yet, but I know it will be peculiar  I'm no expert hat maker

Don't forget to bring a mug 'cos Katrina's bringing some Mulled Wine from Austria. So, even if you're having trouble eating (teef wise), you can still get happy and forget your troubles :D

I need to get organised and sort out something to do on the day.

Hi everyone, I thought I better pop on before Saturday. Been unwell over the weekend.

It will be great to meet up with everyone at the Christmas Crop. I haven't thought about my hat yet.

I have read January's Scrap Magic and Emy is it you that has produced that lovely baby quilt of your niece which is illustrated in it?

Sorry about your car Carroll and just before Christmas. In the last couple of months my washing machine, tumbledrier, dishwasher, hoover and lawnmower have all had to be replaced. They usually say it comes in threes but not for me. Hows that for being unlucky!

Happy Christmas one and all.

Emy
13-12-2005, 11:59 AM
