Well I'll be there.... :)
Been waiting for a chance to try the TH embossing powders before I invest my hard-earned pennies on them! And I do like to pinch pennies by making my own embellies
So who else is going? :)

Me, me , me! And maybe my Molly for a bit. I'm hardly ever at the shop so it will make a nice change for me! J

Nina, I cannot believe you're so new to scrapping cos you are soooo good at it. I'm going to have to quiz you very closely on the 10th to see how you do it ;)

well done Hils & Nina !

I will be teaching the star book class at the crop. You won't need to bring any photos because we will just be making the basic book which you can decorate at your leisure. I will post a photo of the project once I've found the perfect ribbon  ;) You will need to bring a glue stick, I use Power Pritt, you will probably use a whole stick on this project. :)

scrapJ
30-11-2005, 10:51 PM
I'm looking forward to it Ellie, I made half a star book at camp, Jack has made a whole one but not sure now if I gave him the right instructions!
Will remember to bring glue stick! J

Oop! that is rather a BIG one  I'll get Alice to downsize you tonight Nina!!

Ellie has finished her star book, but as she says she is still fussing over the perfect ribbon to complete it  Katrina is working on her little christmas traditions/recipes book and it's going to be packed with the Timmy type techniques; distress embossing, inking and embellishing etc.. I'm sure both girls will turn out fab projects for you all.

I had a note from MaryAnne asking me to shrink it  So I have done - Nina, just go to your Photobucket account, choose your image (which if you're the same with me is the only one!), click on edit and then resize it. This one below is at 50% of the original size.... :)

Ellie and Mandy, please could you give me a rough idea of photo (or page) sizes for the Xmas traditions tag book and the star book? I know I can stick them in later but I want to get them ready so I can do them at the crop - easy to keep them a surprise from DH then! ;)
Thanks :)

Hi All,

Ellie says she will pop in this evening to give more details re the star book and Katrina has finished her project and will also give photo size requirements later today :D

Still working on my layout  it's using Basic Grey Vagabond papers with matching Bazzill and a with a wee bit of the old bleaching technique thrown in.

Catch up later, Mandy

Nina, yes I will but you have to bring in your LOs and your new Blitzen stuff :D

Ooo yes - let's have a lovely show n tell session - I love looking at other people's work and don't get much chance to see it irl. Course it'll mean lugging more stuff in.....
Glad my kids don't go to that school - sounds like the parents get more homework than the kids! ;)

Hils
05-12-2005, 02:55 PM
Yes, I can tell Julia loves it by her panic-ridden pleas on UKS for homework help!! I am very firmly of the belief that homework is for kids - been there, done it, don't want to do it again! My poor kids - do you feel sorry for them yet?!!

Modern Scrapper

Sniff, sniff - I can dry my tears now  At least someone has noticed my window display! My little seasonal effort (it took hours of faffing around!) went unnoticed by both Ellie and Julia today <_< What does a girl have to do to draw attention to her window display, eh?

Mandy

05-12-2005, 11:42 PM
Nina, go to the top of the class for spotting Mandy's window display! :D Mandy I'm sure you will wow all of your customers once you get your *fabulous* tree in the window!! :P

I've spent ages faffing about photographing the star book (in between watching IACGMOOH) and I can't get them to load on here, will have to get DH to look at it tomorrow, sorry!

Katrina's xmas traditions book just arrived at the shop and it's fab :D I'll TRY and describe it!

It has 5 sections: Christmas Traditions, Decorations, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Recipes. It is held together at one end with 2 book rings and has 2 blank cardstock pages (so 4 sides for photos/journalling) in each section with a harboard section cover. Each section measures 2cm longer than the previous one but all pages are 11.5cm wide. So the first section measures 11.5cm x 11.5cm, next set of pages is 11.5cm x 13.5cm and so on, adding 2cm length to each subsequent section - is that detailed enough without scanning a photo?!!

Flair Designs papers have a traditional/old world feel to them in muted greens/reds and Katrina has also used vintagey xmas postcards. Very lovely indeed :)

Hope this all helps you to choose your photos.

See ya all on Sat :D

Glad it got to you safely Mandy :) Like Ellies class I don't think you will have time to add photos etc, we will just make the album. You will need a paper trimmer, hole punch, glue, like pritt and if you have some small alphabet stamps then it will save you hanging around for mine, there unmounted ones so it could take a time for people to use them. They need to be the small pixi ones to fit :)

Hils
06-12-2005, 04:20 PM
I'll bring my little alpha stamps then - thanks for the tip off :) I'm hoping to add the pix to my projects in between classes - they are both Christmas pressies for dh so it'll make it much easier to keep them a surprise that way!
BTW Katrina, your micro mailer class at ScrapCamp inspired me to do double ones as Christmas cards for close family - thanks for solving the annual card dilemma!

Window display is FAB Mandy!!!! Noticed it today, I was just rushing too much yesterday. Julia

Modern Scrapper
06-12-2005, 06:51 PM
Thanks for that Julia :D

Katrina, the stamps shouldn't be too much of a problem cos I've got 2 sets of Hero Arts teeny printers type to share round as well as yours :)

Ok, better late than never here are photos of the star book class project. If you want to bring photos to add later at the crop here are the stats.... there are 10 finished "pages" to journal on or include photos, the size of the finished pages is 7cm x 10cm. It would be useful (if you have them) to bring a bone folder and an ink pad to ink the edges as I have done :)

See you Saturday.

Ooo Ellie it looks lovely :) Ink pads? I never go anywhere without my collection of TH inks...

Modern Scrapper
07-12-2005, 07:29 PM
Oh, would you now? Well you might just have to fight me for a place by the fire as I always feel the cold. On the other hand, I might just have to raffle tickets for those seats, or even sell them to the highest bidder - want to make me an offer? :P :D

Sitting by the fire would be very nice indeed, especially as I too feel the cold and my poor little fingers go numb and its very difficult to scrap with numb fingers..... (are you feeling sufficiently sorry for me yet?!!)
But I promise I won't sulk if I don't get to sit in my preferred place - not for long anyway!

Hils, I've been given a sparkly name but I have no clue on how to change my signature - is there instructions on this hidden somewhere on this site? I joined 2 years ago but my DD did all my signature thing and I've gone into edit profile but cannot find how to do the signauture???????

soon to be new spangly mandy

Ellie@ModScraps
08-12-2005, 09:50 PM
Mandy, you need to click "user cp" then "edit signature" (which is on the LHS) :)

PS. please make sure one of those BG Notch & Die things has my name on it! :D

Hils
08-12-2005, 09:57 PM
Hi Mandy. Am I the new UKS/MS techie guru then? And is the answer worth a seat by the fire?!!!!

OK, first you need to have the sparkly thing stored somewhere on the net, like photobucket.com, and make sure its not too big else it'll be like our design team blinkies were to start with! If you're not registered with photobucket you can register for free and use their basic hosting services. You need to upload your sparkly sig, then click on the "generate html and img code" button. Then highlight all the text in the IMG box and copy it.

Now go back to UKS, and go to User CP (at the left of the red band above), click on edit signature. In the big box with all your siggie bits in, click where you want your sparkly name to be. Then you need to go to the little bit just above with all the text formatting stuff and click on insert picture. A little box should pop up asking for some formatted text - click in the box, then right click and paste. Go to preview sig to check all is well and that should be it.

If it's too big you can just go back to Photobucket, click on edit and resize :)

Hi Ladies

Please can I sit next to anyone who knows what they are doing and can say "no I think you are supposed to do it like this!!!!!"

Hi All :D

Big thanks to all who came and made the 12 hour day just whizzz by! Katrina and Sue had true scrappers stamina - they were first to arrive (before me!) and last to leave - I think it was the comfy seats and Julia's supply of Quality Street that kept them there

Hils - you're right about the escape from work week! The shop will be closed from Thursday 22nd and re-opens on Wednesday 4th Jan. I will pop into the shop over Christmas to sort out the January sale stock and pack up website orders - anyone who wants to join me in that is most welcome! Actually maybe a mini-crop would be fun (no classes, just a get-together) - who says yes to that one?

The next "official" crop date is Saturday 28th January and it is Modern Scrapbooking's birthday! yeah, I'm 2 years old :D Who wants to come to my party?!!

Mandy

scrapJ
14-12-2005, 11:09 AM

Well if there is going to be sweets ......... !!

I had a great day, my first 12hour crop ! Glad you all enjoyed the class, you have been very kind to me especially as I made you all emboss things :D :D
Us hardened scrappers even got to see Father Christmas and he waved at us !!!! :)

I think I might be at Mandys Birthday Party, perhaps even teaching, so if that hasn't put you all off I look forward to seeing you all there :P

Have a great Christmas every one and a very happy new Year !
