hi Deedee,
Thanks for your warm welcome.
Youve taken on a big job here you know! :D I am a complete beginner.

I confess i have yet to do my first layout as i like to be prepared and im still stocking up with goodies!

I came across scrapbooking whilst looking for a way to put a memory book together of my two girls first years.( Elena is 2 and a half and Lucie is 2 months.)and realised that this was perfect for me.

I have just read your profile an i see you are a teacher, we are in the same field of work then, as i am a nursery nurse working in a special needs school, or i should say was!!immon maternity leave still.

Perhaps you could help me by recommending some tools i could use, i am looking to buy a paper cutter and an acid free tester pen, do you know where i could get them from?either locally or online.

Sorry to bombard you straight away.

Sarah :D

No worries.:)
I have two favourite paper trimmers. One that will do 12" - a Zision trimmer which is fab and a small one made by Creative Memories which is the best I have ever used but is only small. Some people use the Fiskars 12" trimmer but it has a bit of a 'wobble' which some don't like. However I believe Fiskars have a new 12" cutter out now which is minus the wobble.
I got my acid tester pen from Artbase I think. I'll find some links and get back to you.:)

Great news Sarah.:)
Artbase have the tester pens here (http://www.artbasehornchurch.com/acatalog/Scrapbooking_Online__Miscellaneous___Accessories_1 35.html) but unless you are ordering other stuff it would be expensive with postage. Have you found that lovely little craft shop in Bourne? It's called something about wishing on a star. Anyway - there's a chance she might have them there. I'm half hoping to get up there myself this week - I say half hoping because I have a million other things to do  but I need to go to the Outlet place in Spalding to get more card and Bourne is kind of on the way (I'm in Peterborough).

Anyway - about getting started. If you don't fancy just going for it and throwing some stuff onto paper, how about scraplifting a layout from the gallery here or from a magazine? Do you have any mags? If not let me know - I have tons and really ought to get rid of some of them. I'll pop some in the post. Scraplifting (or copying a lo) is fine as long as you credit the original scrapbooker if you upload anywhere. You can do a direct copy (also known as a CASE - copy and steal everything) or just be inspired by a lo and do your own version of it. Don't forget to upload when you've done a layout.:)

Thanks for looking at that for me, i wasnt really sure what to look for.

I havent heard of the shop in Bourne, i dont go there very often although im not that far away ( we live in Donington, just off the A52). But i will definately be paying a visit now! :)

I will have a look through the gallery to give me some inspiration, when i get chance, Some magazines would be useful, i can send you an SAE if you like.
