I know I'm only a bloke, and we don't ask for directions 'cos we'd rather be lost and all that, but my OH won't let me get my hands on her stash (.. am I allowed to say that?) so I've had to go 'virtual' ... which is more fun anyway.
... can I, eh? B)

Hi, my partner does a bit of scrapping its nothing to be ashamed of. Would you like a copy of my freebie list, to help get you started?

That'd be great, thanks!
I usually help OH with her stuff and put my 5 eggs in when required, and thought I'd have a go at the digital stuff.
My PC has Adobe Photodeluxe, an application we have used successfully on our photos for years and Microsoft Image Composer and gif Animator which I have used on my website - hopefully these will be OK for starters.

If you need any help, you can usually find me on my team thread, feel free to post if you get stuck. Although if its technical questions you would be better asking in the digital thread, I scrap using either powerpoint or open office.

Hmm, Powerpoint, that's interesting ... I'll just run off and read the email, Thanks!

Hi AliceC... welcome to UKS.. i suggest you prepare yourself :) male scrappers are always a novelty and attract a LOT of attention :D (only kiddin.. but nice to have you here)...
Now i must admit powerpoint is a very ..mmmm... unusual choice for digiscrapping... i would suggest if you do not want to invest in the heavy duty packages like fireworks, photoshop or elements or psp go for something like the gimp (http://www.gimp.org/) ... its an excellent freeware program that will give you the versatility of the aforementioned programs, it supports layers and .png graphics format...
it takes a bit of getting used to the interface but you will find it more appropriate than powerpoint (not that im dissing powerpoint, but its intended use is rather different...)
Have fun and be sure to show us your creations :) there are a few guys on UKS but they tend to run and hide from the screaming masses of us girls... very sad that...
see ya

Hi Smurfie - don't know about attractin' attention - I've managed to stop a few threads already!
I'll check out the Gimp and see how I get on ... standby I'm gonna have a go at stickin' a LO up in my gallery ...

Just to say with them having released a newer version of Paint ShopPro, you can get version 8.1 on ebay really cheaply. I find it a great programme for scrapping.

Welcome Alice! My hubby has been the current 'novelty man' on UKS and recently even came on a scrapbooking retreat with all us ladies! He'll be thrilled not to be alone anymore!
As Nicky said, you lads do get a lot of attention! Most of it's quite tasteful ,though! ;)
I'll send him along to say 'hi 'himself later...!
BTW; I do a bit of digi scrapping myself and I'm looking forward to seeing your work in the gallery.

Thanks MandyNiO - I have used PSP (an older version, 5 I think, that was on a works PC) so I'll check out the newer one. I've got PDD running again and all is well at the mo - I'll see what I find in the stocking on the 25th!
Hi Princess Kitten - I knew there were some blokes here somewhere, other than Smax!
I've put a couple of bits in the gallery, but I'm working on them thar Coundown thingies at the mo.

Hi Alice and welcome! Great to see another bloke here #phew!# Don't worry, they're very nice here, speaking as the adopted Natural Born Scrappers 'mascot'! LOL
Never ask a lady about her stash - I did once and it went something like this:
Me: How about we share your stash?
Wife: How about I break your legs?!
I have my own stash - wont make that mistake again...!
Anyway, take care and happy scrapping!

Hi Spotty - With the amount of stash that HID has got we don't have room for too much more, which is why I thought I'd to a bit of digi stuff - y'know, boys toys an' all that.
I know what you mean about being careful about what you say - a bit like 'I'll show you mine if You show me yours' - they're bound to take it the wrong way.
Catch ya soon.

Alice,
Have you even bought "Scrapbook Answers". I got hold of the December's issue, and it has an article written by a bloke. From what I read I think he is a regular, maybe he will convert more men to scrapbooking?

I'll search thro' herself's pile of mags while she's at work - bound to be one there, she's got everything else!

it's an american mag.
AliceCropper
15-12-2005, 09:08 PM
... I guess thats why I can't find it in her drawers (?) ... or her stash boxes. Got to try and tidy it all back in the right places before she notices ... or I'll be in trouble.
Is the mag available from UK bookshops/newsagents like WH Smiths or will I have to go farther afield to find it?
When I was doing ceramics some of best work was done by male artists in the US ... Oh those were the days...

Can't help you there, Alice. I found it in a newsagent but I live in Ireland.
WHSmith... I miss it... (I lived in England for a few years)
There's a number of threads about this particular magazine in the main thread, one of then being:

Hi AliceC - have fun on UKS. As for borrowing HID's stash -no no no :nono: I would HATE my DH to use my stuff. It's bad enough when he borrows my scissors and doesn't return them, despite the "these scissors are not to leave the craft room under any circumstances" rule!
He can stick to his Lego and I'll stick to my scrapping!
I don't think I'd mind DH using my stash. His tastes are very different though so when it came to the expensive embellies etc I don't think he'd use them but would eventually get his own. At least I'd know he was interested though!

Next time she takes me shopping at her local scrapperria I'll nonchalantly flick thro the mag shelf (not the top one) to see wot I can find.
She didn't complain when I used her xacto knife to carve the rustic star for the Crimbo tree ...

Just read your message from 12th December- shows how regularly I can get into the PC - agree with you wholeheartedly!
Happy New Year !

Hi Elin, Princess and Mr Spotty Pants, alice, nicky etc. nice to see you all. My DH is getting interested too, but only in scrapping his endless sports photos - don't think much of my stash will interest him (fingers crossed).
