Here we are ladies - get chatting!
Once you’ve reached 10 posts and can PM each other then one of you send me a PM and I will delete your introduction thread :)
Ooops! Only just spotted this.... sorry!
I've been trying to get a swap finished (first time making tags), get a couple of RAKs out of the way (die cuts) and worrying about a poorly boy -- 14 year old had a really bad cold which used to kick off his asthma enough to need a nebuliser.... seems to have outgrown it now though
Oh, and I spent 3.5hours at a stamping demonstration on Saturday, which was great. Fairly quiet, so I even got to 'try before you buy' with them!
All this on top of work / housework / Christmas Shopping.... and I wonder why I've not managed to do any scrapping yet ;)

Hi Jo,
I'm Cheryl from very cold Greater Manchester, and I'm totally lacking in confidence as to what papers etc. go with what pictures. My main problem is that I want to do an album each for my grand-daughters, but I just dont seem to get away from thinking girls=pink! As I don't want the albums to be all pink, I just can't get started.....
I have done a total of one LO so far -- which isn't pink, but then it isn't of a girl -- which I have posted in my gallery. I did it as a competition entry on a card-making site (we sometimes have comps which are papercrafts other than cards!), and I was quite pleased with it :) I've been making cards since New Year, so think I'm pretty OK with most papercraft techniques and the associated terminology.
I've just about found my way around some of the main sections of this forum, but there are loads of places I haven't been, just 'cos I've no idea what they're about. I tend to check out General, Swaps, PIFS and Marketplace a couple of times a day. Then I also keep an eye on the Teams board -- but only for the Nooby Booby thread. I have been into the Sponsors bit a couple of times as well, but other than those and this adoption area that just about sums up my knowledge of the site! I'm really hoping that I'm not missing out on anything important/exciting anywhere else though......

Hi cheryl,
Cyber mum here :) well as to coming away from pinks are you meaning you would like different variations of girly colours? say like bright yellow with pink etc or even lilac with blue? i tend to just look at the colours in the photo find a base colour and then bring other colours in using a colour wheel can be useful, either scrapbook inspirations or scrapbook magic have a page in it in each issue.
What places on here confuse you tell me and i'll navigate you round,
Speak soon,
Jo x
Would like to try with ANYTHING except pink!
I saw a lovely layout of a little girl at the 3 day event at Bolton in the summer, which was done in browns. I've got a 'kit' with some pink, but a lot of black! It includes guitar picks and all sorts of goodies.... bought that at Bolton 'cos I liked the idea (and it was a very good price on one stall), but not plucked up the courage to try anything with it yet ;)
One of the first LOs I'd like to try is when Kayleigh (the older one) visited Mummy and Megan in the hospital for the first time. I took the attached pics to a "Scrapbooking for beginners" class, and told the woman I was trying to get away from pinks..... so she tried to push me into using pink due to my daughter's nightshirt. I felt this made daughter (Lisa) the focus of the piccy rather than the youngsters.... so she then went for a very pale mint green (which looked nice) with a darker green for mounting (which looked OK) and then gold or red (!) for a third colour. Neither did anything for me, at which point she basically told me I didn't have an eye for colour, and probably wouldn't even trust kit providers to get a combination right!!!!!!!! Kind of put me off trying anything else out
As for the site, don't "get" the Scrap Wars, Digi Scrapping (had one attempt, but the site I was on seemed to force templates and a limited selection of colours/patterns), or Circle Journals (can't see why people would want a book which other people have put pages into, as they're not personal anymore -- but guess I might come to understand this as time passes?)

Hiya Cheryl,
Maybe trying a light orange card stock (for matting the photo's) due to the blanket and a light blue backing paper due to the cover on the bed with a few of the other colours in the photo for embellishments??? does that help a little Also cheryl i have 2 girl's and a boy and i use lots of different colours for them when you first start out it is quite daunting cause you look at everyone else's and wonder how thay do it i found it was hit and miss at first and then finally some one from my crop came up with words of wisdom "in the end jo who is it to please you and future generations or other people" and thats when i thought yeah you are right and if i make a mistake who knows only me, so in other words i just go for it and don't give a monkey's.
Coming away from the subject smurfie is the best person to talk about digi scrapping thats her first passion with scrapbooking, Scrap wars is basically a weekend where a lot of competion cyber cropping goes on , teams compete and points get awarded etc its voluntary i don't take part but i believe its lots of fun if you can spare a whole weekend to it. as, for cj's its a good way of seeing oher peoples techniques and i suppose being part of a team.
Well hope that helps,
Hugs,
Jo x
Thanks Jo...
will have to dig through my stash and see what I've got -- although another excuse to go shopping never goes amiss :) Would never have thought of starting from the blanket colour -- probably 'cos I'd have problems seeing what else to put with it!
gave the digi-scrapping a go more as a way of testing layouts before attacking my paper/cardstock with the cutters..... talk about paranoid about wasting stash
will 'talk' to Smurfie when I get some time to myself to have another play with it.

How are you today cheryl?
Shattered!
Had a pretty stressful day at work, immediately followed by 2 hours baby sittnig my grand-daughter (daughter had a driving lesson) and got home to find a bulk order had been delived, which I've just spent a couple of hours splitting into a number of piles, as not everything in it was for me -- it's from a company I get together with other girls for placing orders, as you get bigger discounts when ordering in bulk -- and some of it needs to go into work with me tomorrow as I'm off on Friday and Monday!
